Corbyn wants to requisition private/corporate property to house all the people from Grenfell Tower?
Bad move IMO, but hey I believe in private property rights :-X
You don't because you support people like Trump who hounds people out of their own properties when they refuse to sell.
I know you are desperate to be outraged by anything the left does but THIS IS NOT AMERICA. Corbyn asked the government to consider using compulsory purchase orders for flats in the area that are deliberately kept vacant. (land banking)
What Corbyn actually said was
"But can't we as a society just think, all of us, it's all very well putting our arms around people during the crisis but homelessness is rising, the housing crisis is getting worse and my point was quite a simple one.
"In an emergency, you have to bring all assets to the table in order to deal with that crisis and that's what I think we should be doing in this case."
He questioned why people had been left stranded when airlines are able to find accommodation for delayed travellers.
Mr Corbyn said: "Every day at Heathrow, planes get delayed. Hundreds of people get stranded at airports all over the world.
"Hotels are found for them immediately, they are sorted out.
"400 or so people, still most of them have not got somewhere decent, safe or secure to stay in.
"Somehow or other, it seems to be beyond the wit of the public services to deal with the crisis facing a relatively small number of people in a country of 65 million."
Apparently it has now happened
68 flats have been purchased by the City of London Corporation in a deal brokered by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
The newly built homes are in two affordable housing blocks are on a site where private homes are on offer from £1,575,000 to £8.5 million.
The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) said the "expectation is that these new properties will be offered as one of the options to permanently rehouse residents from Grenfell Tower".

And yet there is outrage
As though people would be happier that flats were left empty and those affected were left to sleep on the street and add to the numbers of homeless.
It's what happens when people lose perspective, Fucking money mad pricks
Why can't they live in their own neighbourhood ? It's not temporary. The flats will be paid for and no longer empty.
NEVER
EVER
anything about the fact that huge swathes of London are bought up by your friends the Saudis and the Russians and land banked
Poor foreigners = fuck em
Rich Foreigners = Hooray
Never mind the fact that they don't live or spend money here
See you lot don't even really believe in controlled borders
You just hate poor people
Who is saying they can't live in their own neighborhood? Sooo the government is supposed to buy apartments regardless of their worth AND make them available for people who (pardon me if I'm mistaken) aren't the best off in terms of money? The apartments are already paid for by the folks who own them else the banks would own them and I'm sorry YOU don't get to tell people how they use their property. If I get a super awesome car and feel like taking a sledge hammer to it just for shits and giggles you can't stop me from doing that because you want that car dig?
"NEVER EVER" what? About eminent domain? That's EXACTLY what you're espousing here I mean by the damned letter man.
And I assume Londoners fucking sold those buildings to those folks....again not your property, tough luck.
Poor foreigners cost money ....Rich foreigners spend money....jobs, economy, etc
Unless the wealthy foreigners are evil and going to commit acts of terrorism then yeah they should be allowed to go where they please, same rules for the poor folks too. I'm consistent.
"You just hate poor people".....oh why don't you just call me a Kulak and send me to a gulag Comrade fucking hell.
Bullshit Lyle you have no consistency. You don't want people to be able to go where they please you want the UK to leave the EU and to tell Europeans what to do just like Brockton. It's pretty disdainful stuff and it's constant.
You don't even believe in capitalism.
So when the government decides to but up EMPTY apartments for those made homeless and many of whom have lost loved ones and ALL their earthly possessions. You still want it weighed in favour of the Russians and Saudi billionaires.
Even Miles has joined you with his RT loving, immigrant hating rhetoric.
London isn't owned by Londoners anymore and it's your lots fault
YOU are the Liberal elite
You and Miles and Brockton and all you alt right teat sucking fucking neo con dumb fucks who want the world to throw away anything meaningful in the pursuit of empty conservative mealy mouthed rhetoric and NO action.
Wankers
So dramatic....chill out
But think of l the diversity u are missing, it's enrichment
This sounds exactly like what we sometimes see in the States. Its the 'not in my backyard' attitude only now you're dealing with people on mass. I've been on both sides after disaster and have watched high end neighborhoods rightfully in my opinion object to trailer cities being set up for temporary housing within the property and can't imagine a government agency just handing out keys to houses next door. People can be veeeery upitty when it comes to devaluing, as they term it, neighborhoods on whole and I honestly don't think the instance over there is based on the individuals but more so one thing..money! Are these proposed flats already owned by others or is the Government purchasing them for victims? The elephant in the room may be race or religion for a sad arse some but I know for a fact that often the term 'temporary housing' very much becomes permanent housing. The official sighted there may have been better to focus on 'local' properties near the victims location, sounds like he said that was option b ???, firstly and try to keep them oriented with families, friends, transportation and jobs etc rather than basically bus them over to totally unfamiliar living conditions. I'm not trying to be flip and speak from first hand experience but sometimes it's setting victims up for a longer recovery or fall to just transplant them into a totally foreign living condition and surroundings. I mean shit are those silk curtains? And to be honest some people trying to recover don't want to lay their head next-door to some judgmental fukwit who may look at you as second class citizen.
Estate Families? Petty crime? What a judgmental self righteous attitude. You don't even want them to work? You are exactly the same as Brockton. Typical pretentious snob who demands privilege for themselves even if it means treading on others and not offering them the same opportunities to get it. The local population? Most of them were born there unlike many in the luxury blocks next door. You are just a typical racist class traitor.
