Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
The smart move for both guys is for Wilder to defend against Breazeale, then take the AJ fight in April. Fury can get a couple more step ups, 1 in Nov, another in Mar/ Apr. From there it's wide open really. It depends on what some of these other guys like Whyte, Miller, Ortiz and Parker do as well.

I think that's a marinating we can put up with, realistically.

Fury talks a lot of crap, but deep down this is probably what he really has in mind. You don't go diving into the deep end of the pool after taking a couple of baby steps in the wading pool. Either way he loses to either Wilder or AJ.

IMO the sun is already setting on Ortiz. Miller doesn't impress me at all, and to me will be a non-factor before too long. Not champion material. Whyte is definitely in the picture, and Parker, with a few adjustments, should be in there as well.
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
Yea I was meaning if they get in the way, Miller may get the April date over Wilder.
Whyte is still #1 with the WBC I think. That fight might happen before AJ. Or Whyte may rematch AJ before Wilder gets a shot.
Fury should be looking at Bellew or Chisora for the end of the year.
Pulev is floating about, I think he was still in line for an eliminator.
There is also the elephant in the room that is Charr vs Oquendo, someone is going to have to eventually clean that mess up.
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
“I believe 100 per cent that this fight is going to happen and it’s going to get done," Wilder, who is undefeated in 40 fights with 39 knockouts, said of the Fury match-up. "We’re very, very close. Closer than Joshua and me could ever get in a lifetime.
"It’s definitely gonna happen, there’s no doubt. There’s just a little more work to be done."
“Me and Fury, we talked with each other back and forth; I think he’s a great guy, we have a relationship together, and my team has a relationship with his team," Wilder told The Ring.

Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
Chisora wants Whyte who wants Wilder who wants AJ who wants Fury. :)
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
Maybe Finkel, Wilder, Warren and Fury have formed a little gang and made this whole thing up?
WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Deontay Wilder CONTRACT NOT SIGNED by Anthony Joshua, Shelly Finkel says 'IT'S CLEAR BY THE TERMS THEY DON'T WANT THE FIGHT'

Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
I'm glad Wilder's finally talking about it, since I believe about 0.000001% of what Fury shovels. If that's true, Fury had better make good use of his tuneup against Pianeta....... he's gonna need it.

I thought Miller had made the move to swerve Pulev in eliminator so he can get wba winner? The thought of a 'young' undefeated top Miller facing a 4 yr out Fres Oquendo sounds like a major step backwards for American heavyweights ;D.
Would love to see Whyte in big again right away. Not a AJ rematch though for AJs momentum sake.
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
I'm late to this so not read the full thread but this December too soon for Fury surely - like at least a year too soon.
If he takes it it suggests to me one of two things...
i) he's cashing in for a 10 million + pay day retirement plan and conning us all he wants to get back to the top. He could blame the defeat on it being too soon and then cash in more with an AJ fight next year too...
or
ii) he's actually fooling us all and is in awesome shape and back to his best already despite ring rust !
If this December I favour it 80-20 Wilder.
Rather he took Bellew in December
Either way Fury will sell it for sure
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
If those are my only two choices........ "I'll take (i) for $500, Alex"
Seriously.... if he loses to Wilder, blames it on coming back too soon, and STILL cons fans into a mega-payday against AJ........
Well, you know what they say about a fool and his money. ;)
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
If the fight was to happen and Fury did win would it be seen as an amazing feat for someone who has only fought 2 bums in 3 years or would people say Wilder was exposed?
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
Wilder seems 100% it's a goer...
“It could be wrapped up next week,” Wilder said. “Or it could be wrapped up [Friday]. We’re that close. This has been the easiest negotiation I’ve ever been in, dealing with a fight of this magnitude. That just lets you know this fight will happen. I don’t see nothing that will stop this fight from happening, nothing at all.”

If this does happen and Fury manages to pull off a win it'll be a fucking masterstroke in the art of gatecrashing the party.
Wilder is supposedly doing the commentary for BT Sports at the Frampton/Fury night so maybe we'll get an announcement Then?
I like this fight stylewise too so fingers crossed we get it. 😎
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
Certainly want it but with a fit Fury.
I'm realising how big a Tyson Fury fan I actually am after initially thinking he was a knob a few years back. Everything is tongue in cheek and extremely talented - oh and fucking huge too !
Hope he cleans up
Re: Wilder v Fury - Deal almost done for December
I think with Wilder you need to hit him hard and early. Not sold on Fury's power and composure to do that. He did brilliantly sticking to a master plan with Wlad but I think AJ irons out Wilder early doors, where Fury makes it dangerous the longer he drags it out. He is not in the kind of shape mentally to be disciplined for 12 rounds at the moment IMO.
