well said, big H :coolclick:
with hindsight calzaghe was simply too good for lacy and it was too soon for lacy....
lacy WILL be back and he will be a force to be reckoned with....
fighters lose, its no reason to quit....

Cannot disagree with you, but it is kind of funny so easy posters here change their views.
Before the fight many posters of this board hyped Lacy to KO Calzaghe very easily – the fight was a walk in the park for Lacy to KO overhyped Joe Calzaghe.
Now the same posters had changed their views dramatically.
“Jeff was brave to even face Calzaghe”
“I was clear that Lacy met Calzaghe too early, the kid had only 20 fights”
All those excuses would had been much more valid if posters had been giving them before the fight instead of all those hype posts: Lacy KO3 etc etc
;D
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
I know what you are saying, coz a lot of people have been very quick to trash talk Lacy, when before the fight he was the second coming, but there were also a lot of people (basically all the Britks & Wacko) that were giving credit to JC and questioning Lacy's opposition and whether it was a step too far too early.
I admit, I called it 50-50, and I was very disappointed with Lacy, coz against Reid he looked fantastic in all departments.
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
I think Royal should call it a day

These days it is not hard to look good against Reid - he is and was more busy being an underwear model than a boxer. Remember that Lacy did not look that good before the referee Jorge Alonso fucked up the fight.
Watch Reid in his fight against Ramdane Serdjane just before the Lacy fight and it would be very clear that Reid was only there for the money.
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
He said it himself, he needs to improve his boxing skills. If he does that he could come back a much better fighter

You might be right, but at the age of 28/29 and after more than 250 fights I guess it is hard to improve that much. Just my guess.

You could be right, and the fact that he has a great trainer in Dan Birmingham leads me to believe that he hasnt improved his skills thus far he probably wont get much better. The Lacy camp should steer clear of savvy veterans and southpaws and go after B level compitition. I really cant ever see Lacy beating an A+ fighter at this point though he always has a punchers chance i guess
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Lacy should have listened to Birmingham's instructions and the night would have been less painful.
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
He lost to one of the best boxers in the world today so no he shouldnt. Theres no shame in losing to the best!

Having said about the Tyson thing it wouldnt be a bad idea to see what Rooney could do with him, Birmingham sure as hell doesnt have a clue.
You cant argue that Birmingham is the reason for Winkys success because Winky has a very basic style, Vargas beat him, Vasquez battered him and I think Taylor is going to be too big for him
dont forget harry simon beat winky's ass

New Wind, the genius who started this topic, I guess its no wonder your cool-sad click ratio is 7 to 30. This post of yours makes no sense. Guy loses one fight, one!! And you have the audacity to post something this stupid?
I have no doubt you are a die hard Calzaghe fan, if not one of his relatives.
