He is an American with a Mexican heritage. If you are born and raised in the US then you are an American with whatever your heritage or nationality is. Just like I am an American with a Mexican heritage. My personal feelings is that you really should not be able to claim you are (insert nationality) unless you were born and raised in that country.

So you like Oscar and most Mexican Mexican's dont? I know the JCC fight won him alot of the Mexican fans....how do they see him now?

I like him but not really a huge fan. I think he has gotten too corporate, but good for him. It is nice seeing a boxer being able to do something besides smash in somebody else's face. From what I have read and heard most Americans with Mexican heritage have a harder time being accepted by the Mexican fans because they are not familar with or can not relate to Mexican Mexican's. For some reason there is a grudge against them for growing up in America. Personally, I can somewhat relate. I grew up with my Mexican mother and her parents. My mothers family were the only Mexicans that I grew up around. And they were plenty Americanized as I was growing up. If you were to see me, Mexican would not be the nationality you would think that I am. So I have always felt that I was not a part of that culture.

a dive is more pre -planned---i dont think dlh planned to take a dive but as the fight wore on and hop started to puish him and he realized he couldnt win i think he was looking for a way out--the body shot was a convenient and probably a better way to lie down--for some reason there is less emabrassment in getting kayoed with a body shot vs taking one on the button i think

Makes no sense at all. The man had NEVER been stopped before. Do you know how many champions there have been who can say they were never KO'd? Not that many. Only a handful. No f@#kin' way Oscar would lay down as opposed to sticking it out and losing a decision. That's utter nonsense.

And yes Mayorga did get put down hard by Tito's body shots - but Tito's left hook his harder than Hopkins' - and Mayorga got up each and every time. He is (or was??) tougher than DLH by a street.
I like Mayorga in this fight big time - provided Tito didn't take all the fight out of him with that beatdown.
Yes, exactly. Did you see the Picharillo fight? Mayorga looked pretty good, not great though. He did show a jab. I'm tellin ya folks, Mayorga will die to defend this title, he loves it, you see how happy he was when he won it? Oscar just wants to add it to his collection and thinks this will be an easy fight. That will be his fatal mistake.

Barrera isn't a peasant. He's middle class University educated (was studying law in the early part of his carreer before giving up to focus on boxing). Some of the aggro between him and Morales was down to class. Morales if from the street and he and Barerra traded insults about class/education etc

I agree with this analysis. The pain was comin, Oscar was gettin winded a little, couldn't run anymore, and looked for a soft spot on the canvas.

Thing is, Mayorga says all these things, but after a fight win or lose he always shows respect to his opponents, even away from the crowds and in the hallways but only always AFTER the fight.
And I am very glad Mayorga hasn't said anything about Oscar's mother :-\

Well, there is still time... ;D But no, he should not, that is not tasteful or appropriate. He says whatever he needs to say to pump up himself and the event. I truly believe Mayorga can and will defeat Oscar Delahoya. Watch and see.

delahoya has a chance if he counters all night and stays on the defense tip... mayorga... i could see him winning by knock out in like the 5th,6th or 7th.... delahoya i could see winning by decision , but not knocking this man out ...

He does have some defense, good head movement. And some boxing skills, faints and a developing jab. However he is totally outgunned in the boxing skills and talent department. But when has he not been? It won't matter, Mayorga wants this one BAAAAAAAAAAAD.
