Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Like I said,Germany have gone for the more attacking approach but see how vulnerable they looked. Imagine Ronaldo,Ronaldhinno and Adriano there!!! I'm a big fan of Lahm though,he played very well last world cup too and those goals....goals of the tournament already?Actually,I think we will see more of those, the ball swirves alot!! Want see Carlos or Gerrard whack 1 !!

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Germany are gonna concede 4 or 5 if they come up against one of the big boys - can't believe how pushed up the back 4 were - suicidal tactics when your defence aint that gr8 anyway
-
Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
worst german defense for a country that normally excells in the defense.
yea they got exposed against italy not long back.
equador might do em ;)

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Great game today, by zi Germans & Costa Rica.....Remember 'Wanchopa' (forward for Rica) used to play in Europe so he pretty much knew how to play them great showing of skills by him.
Ecuador showed class and with a bit of luck they managed to get by Poland 2-0..The game was good for as a follow up to the opener you could say it sucked... ;)
-
Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Ecuador Costa Rica could be a cracker and I'll be honest,I can see Ecuador's pacy team opening Germany up a few times too!!! England today, any predictions guys??

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules in
Paraguay 7 - 0 England. 8)
Haha, just kidding. ;D
I reckon it will be a draw myself... maybe England will pip it by a goal. I'm expecting them to be a bit cagey in the opening match though, while Paraguay have little to lose.
Chances are, I will be completely wrong and England will hammer them, in which case I will hold my hands up and blame the pitch. :)

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Sacrilage, but ..............
I am bored of football (which has little that is noble about it), sick of all the merchandising, revolted by the false emotions and bandwagon-jumpers, sickened by the hero-worship of a bunch of chavs who can run fast and kick something.
I am tired of thick inarticulate TV presenters, if someone talks about 1966 again, I think I will stab then in the face.
I wonder what our governments will sneak in while we, the masses, are distracted by the games at the Colisseum world cup.
I am standing by for the inevitable torrent of sad clicks when political/societal correctness is not followed in public, but it is the truth (I swear, your honour)

I sort of feel the same way X, I like football... Not nuts on it but its the over the top, Hysterical contrived fans that get too me... I don't mind genuine fans I just can't stand bandwagon jumpers.

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Despite playing shit for half a game we are in perfect position to qualify with little fuss, Trinidad were great today but had the Sweds had thier shooting boots on and Hislop wasnt inspired they would have got a thumping.
I thought Crouch was excellent today.
-
Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
yea crouchy played well, bag 3 points against trinidad and were thru to group stages, all good, rooney yet to come yet, he adds summin that no other single player in our team has.
on a diff note whos watching would cup wind ups tonight?

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Ivory Coast looked poweful, very very impressive,I have a feeling they can beat the Dutch. Argentina looked very very stylish but I feel Riquelme can be brushed out of a game like Arsenal did.Amazing player if you give him time though.Saviola was superb,Trinidad were very good too but had ALOT of luck with them.
England......unimpressive.First half, super stuff, second, strange change of tactics and Eriksson's decision to leave Defoe at home will backfire. There is no plan B,when Owen went off, they looked flat.Granted the 3points are the most important thing but for an opposing team like Paraguay to push England back. :-\

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
So far the ONLY teams that have impressed me and have won convincingly are: Australia, Czech Rep. & Italy
Germany, Mexico, England, Argentina, Portugal and the rest haven't been so convincing.....
Snakey must be drunk........I bet theres a lot of celebrating going on 'Down under'.... 8)
The Czechs gave the US a beating....I really think the US will not get back up from this loss and will be out in the 1st rd.
The Dutch did not convince me either but I have to side with Arg. when they play as long as Coach: Pekerman makes the right calls in substitutions and doesn't think that now is a god time to put in Palacio (who?) instead of Tevez or Messi. I sware I fell off my chair when I saw the sub. being made............I think Serbia & Mont. can beat the Dutch 8)
Mexico will qualify in 1st place they will beat Porugal.
England struggled and I will reserve my comments if they will advanced or not when I see the first 20 minutes of their next game, If they start off and continue playing the way they did vs. Paraguay then theres something wrong their....If we see a whole new startegy then they're back....

Mick i will be suprised if we dont beat Trinada by at least 3 goals we will cruise into next round but after that who knows.

If I recall correctly a similar score was predicted by MOST people here prior to the Paraguay game....3-1 I think.....
I don't know, your probably right they will advanced but they need to show what they got...

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Czech Republic looked awesome, soooo glad Wenger signed Rosicky for us,he looks a great great buy!! I was not impressed by England, and people may slate me for this but Holand either. Ok,at times, there passing was rivetting but defensively, they looked weak, and their balance is all wrong.Ok,Robben was awesome but what about Van Persie and Ruud? Everytime Sneijder had the ball,he went to Robben who went for goal most of the time, great against S and M but against better teams,he will be marked easily.
Mexcio look very very impressive, maybe because they play together so much but Portuagl looked good to me,Figo was sensational!
Back to England, people may say 3 points etc most important but the fact is they were playing a team who had absloutely no chance of scoring and England could not kill them off and gave possession away.People talk about the heat but England were poor from the beginning of the second half and not just that, there was no PLan B!! Why not bring on Walcott!!!

Agree with most points there the Game cc,
For me England basically scored the goal to early and at the end of the day 3 points was the most important thing especially with a relativley weak team in Trinadad coming up, they will no doubt improve, i havent really been impressed with any of the top dogs so far, and i missed Czech game so cant comment, but so Mexico have looked good but lets not forget they played a weak team.
As for Ruud i really feel he is turning into the Evander Holyfield of football, he wasnt quick to begin with but i think he has lost all his sharpness, i think the two Cruciates earlier in his career have caught up with him to be honest, still a great poacher but he has lost alot IMO.
I still cant see past Brazil, Argentina, England and maybe the dark horses are the Czechs, who knows.

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
The Game Karma, i o u one in 24.
-
Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
CC back Skel bossman, owe you in 24 too.I think Ruud is still sharp and give him a chance and he will most likely score,I just feel too much of the play went through Robben and a better team would easily mark him.
I see what you mean,3 points are important for England but seriously, that second half was dreadful!! Could not hold on to possession,I'm still not convinved that Lamps and Gerrard can play well together,Gerrard is better going forward than Lampard but he sits instead. Also, like I said, there was no PLan B!! As soon as Owen went off,England kept hoofing the ball forward to Crouch who could do nothing. We shall see how things go against Trinidad but I was not impressed.
You have to see Czechs, they could have scored 5 and I think you missed goal of the tournament,Rosicky,30 yarder!! He also scord another class goal aaaand hit the bar with a 25 yarder,he and Nedved stole the show!!! They can be countered but when they are going forward, they are irrisistable.

I totally agree with Gerrard and Lampard combo it dont work Sven needs to realise this quick, and for me get Carrick in there.

But which 1 do u drop ???
-
Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
Good point coz imo Lampard has been a better player in an England shirt than Gerrard
I think they can play in the same team just not in the way they are currently playing

Re: Fifa World Cup... GERMANY 2006 discussion thread (link to match schedules inc)
CC from earlier Skel.I think you drop Lampard, just because he is a big player,Eriksson won't have the balls but the fact is Gerrard is better than him going forward, especially at international level. I don't rate Lamps at international level, hasn't done anything for me.
