Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
Definately a time and place for everything. I certinaly had my moments where Pantera was it :)
I'm suprised you don't hear too many fighters walk into the ring with Pantera, Alice in Chains, or something like that. It seems very fitting for the occasion.

CCR may be confused with southern rock but they are from CALIFORNIA
Southern Rock Groups
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Allman Brothers
ZZ Top
Molly Hatchet
Charlie Daniels Band
Southern rock, country rock, rockabilly, folk rock...call it want you want if you want to get anal about it. The ozark mountain daredevils were from the midwest but does that mean they did not sing southern rock?
Everybody knows CCR (or originally known as the golliwogs) were from southern California but it does not matter where they were from because with lyics, tunes, songs, and albums under names like Mardi gras, Bayou country, born on the bayou, proud Mary, Cotton fields, green river, etc. etc. etc.........................you can't get any more southern than that!

There is a guy by the name of David Torres that I see box on a regular basis. He is a good up an comer. He comes out to the Welcome to the Jungle (G&R) and right where the music kicks in from the beginning giutar mahem his Mariachi music takes over. So clever !! It's really cool he tricks you!! Those Mexican fighters have the best music!
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
One I think of is Spinks' entrance for the 1st Judah fight.
What kinda dance was that?

number one skynard ain't gay, and i'm a big rap fan, O0 but more importantly a fan of good music. but if you knew anything about music and boxers, you'd realise that taylor is from alabama which also happens to be the hometown of one of the biggest rock bands of all time...yep u guessed it LYNYRD SKYNYRD!!! the name of the song which you so eloquently deemed gay is called "simple man" which speaks to the fact that taylor thinks of himself as a simple man who keeps his training regiment simple and effective. be as it may i can understand your dislike for certain genre's of music, but leave the ignorance off your keystrokes! i like the fact that fighters are choosing more personal songs rather than typical fight songs which are a dime a dozen you can literally pick up any rap or rock album and find at least 2 or 3 "fight" tracks, to find that perfect song that expresses who you are and what you are about is a beautiful thing and imagining that moment as you enter the ring to "your" song brings a smile to your face, but that's just the opinion of a punch drunk monkey that owns a computer! peace. correction: i believe taylor is actually from arkansas, but i could be wrong i could google it but i'm too gawdamn lazy! it ain't eazy bein cheezy!

Even though his music did not appeal to me I recognized Sinatra's class and in no sense of the word is his music gay.
It was most appropriate for Hopkins to come out to My Way for his ' final fight' and I and I'll bet millions of others had a broad grin on their faces during his ringwalk
Damn right TKO. ;)
Gay's ass. ::**
Some songs are timeless & say what they said forever.
And also, respect would be nice.
Ali's achievements aren't any lesser as the years go by, why would Frank's be?
And it seems that nobody knows how to spell Lynyrd Skynyrd. ;D

Funny you should mention this. Manny Pacquiao actually came out to Rocky's "Gonna Fly Now" during his fight with Larios the other night. That was surprising for me, since I was half expecting him to come out to one of the two Filipino songs he recorded (Para sa Yo and Laban Natin To if I'm not mistaken).

The boys from Skynyrd are from Jacksonville, Fla...they only sang Sweet Home Alabama because of Neil Young's whiney ass song "Southern Man"...hence "I heard Mr. Young sing about her, a Southern Man don't need him aaround anyhow"

Neil Young is great but another main reason that Skynard wrote that line was because Young wouldn't let Skynard open up for them in concert. Why should he let himself get blown away by Skynard like the Who was blown away by them earlier that era.
