What kind of a boxing site is it without a Hagler - Leonard thread eh I was wondering where this site's one was ! Leonard still even now by two rounds.I remember being 11 and just being genuinely scared for Leonard , Hagler was and looked like a bad man especially after seeing what he'd done to Hearns.Hagler started the fight like he was still fighting John Mugabi and paid for it.

Definitely was boring as hell. Leonard running like a rabbit the whole fight. Is that what you call exciting? Terrible fight.

LMAO! Now you sound like me when I complain about Floyd.
Not many people know that I like Sugar Ray Leonard, I do. I was the only person in my home who was rooting for Leonard against Duran :o As a matter of fact, I would always root for Ray, not matter what or whom against. Those who do know me ask, how is that you liked Leonard but you can't appreciate Mayweather Jr.? First of all, there are no real similarities other than their speed and foot work.
Now if you want to complain about running? I think Leonard vs Duran II was one of SRL's best track meets to date :-\
I guess if I can be a SRL fan, I should not be knocking those who are Mayweather Jr., fans ;D
Both SRL and PBF were hustla's. Too bad PBF had to try and sell himself so hard and become a heel. Had Floyd been from the same era as Ray, I think he would be a lot more respected today and he would not have had to try and sell himself as the bad guy as much as he has had to do it in this generation
;D

I agree it was for certain boring and probably one of the least exciting FOTY's ever 1987 must of been a poor year for boxing action wise for Sugar Ray Leonard vs Marvin Hagler to win FOTY.........

Marvin Hagler looked like a shot fighter and couldn't get his shots off i don't know what the hell he was thinking trying to outbox Sugar Ray Leonard in the first 4 rounds whether it was an ego thing meaning that he could beat Sugar Ray Leonard at his own game or etc........

It was for certain the wrong choice and it cost him the fight but i didn't really think much of Sugar Ray Leonard's pitter patter flurries either Marvin Hagler certainly did land the more telling blows and i don't care if Sugar Ray Leonard outlanded Marvin Hagler in punches landed.......

Sugar Ray Leonard didn't ever really land any telling blows except flashy flurries which were mostly slaps but Sugar Ray Leonard did make it more his kind of fight than Marvin Hagler did so thats always the arguement do you like Marvin Hagler's slower more telling blows or did you like Sugar Ray Leonard's less effective but more flashy punches combined with his ring generalship.

Do you think the then number one contender, Herol Graham would have out boxed Hagler.

I think he could of forgetting all of Herol Graham's unlucky World title shots lets remember he gave Mike McCallum all he could handle and i would say Mike McCallums power is on par with Marvin Hagler's and lets remember Marvin Hagler was on the downslide of his career at that time after back to back wars with Thomas Hearns John Mugabi........

But could Herol Graham dig deep in the later stages of the fight thats the question because no matter how slick and how fast Herol Graham is there would be a point in the fight where Marvin Hagler would close the distance like he did against Sugar Ray Leonard who did have to dig deep in some parts of there fight.......

I think Marvin Hagler would get very frustrated Herol Graham is one of the most frustrating fighters you could fight and in the Sugar Ray Leonard fight Marvin Hagler was getting very frustrated and i think Herol Graham's slickness would have gave Marvin Hagler an even more frustrating night i think it depends on if Herol Graham could dig deep in the later stages.

For as long as it lasted yes (4-6 rounds) ... Hagler would have caught up with Herol though in the end you couldn't trust Herol's chin at that level.;D

Hagler was no Julian Jackson who was a freak of a puncher.
