Why would Lewis have had his number? They met once and Tyson was a long time gone. Still took Lewis an age to close down that shell. Of course, they met as youngsters but that encounter has now merely passed into the realm of myth.

Not true. Lewis is on record as saying he was amazed that Tyson was taking the shots he did. Emmanuel Steward was screaming his head off for Lewis to stop pitty-pattying and clear Tyson out because he knew that the Iron one was potentially dangerous.

If they fought in Tyson's prime in 1988 Lewis would definitely have lost. Tyson had a penchant for chewing up tall heavyweights at the time and Lewis, while good, was still somewhat green.

But magically-mystically if they both could have fought in their own relative primes... it's a pick 'em. I don't think Lewis ever got the credit he deserved and people are sudden Tyson-revisionists as if he weren't as good as he was. Sure Tyson had flaws, but that certainly didn't make him unique. The combination of speed, power and defense inside a little package did.

Cuz I reckon Mike was too short to deal with a focused Lewis . When you see how a washed up Larry Homes jabbed at Mike , Lewis had alot of power to follow up with in his right hand . Rudduck is nowhere near the class of Lennox but he gave Mike a hard 12 rounds . It would have been a good fight . Mike is great but I cant imagine him beating Lewis .

[/quote]lewis never had kids at the time,so why would he take offence at it....it is obvious that tyson was acting to promote the fight and for the press confrence meely,tyson was trying to make a show of it so he walked over to lewis and lewis bodygaurd pushed tyson first and that brought out mikes volatile temper (no one pushes iron mike) so tyson swung at the bodygaurd for pushing him,then lennox swung at tyson so tyson bit him....................................the bodygaurd started it all....and lennox swung at tyson first

i think tyson easily had the power to KO lewis if he conected and a prime tyson had a very good chance of conecting because of the speed, stamina and head movement (that was pretty much all but gone when the pair did actually fight). but mike always had problems with the big technical boxers with a decent jab like lewis. i would say iron mike but i've already voted so we need someone else to join the topic.

I bet Saddo is fucking sick of the who could beat Mike Tyson threads.....hell there has been a shit load just since I started......

Sad part is when he spoke of being the most ruthless champion ever with his great style and being liston and dempsey then some...At one time that was all true.....A prime Tyson would have beaten Bob Sapp to a pulp

Tyson was a monster during his peak, there is no way a gentleman would've beaten him during those times.

Its a tossup, but to be honest I don't see a prime Lewis knocking out a prime Tyson. For me, it would either be prime Tyson knocking him out or prime Lewis cautiously (SMARTLY) outboxing him for the decision. Either way it would have been a great fight.

Im not even going to bother on this very old topic i remember another thread about Lewis vs Tyson that i debated on it went on for 25 pages so i think i'll keep my opinions to myself on this one ;)

I always knew Lewis would beat Tyson no matter when they fought. Lewis had the style, size and skills to defeat tyson when he was at his best. Lewis was susceptable when he didn't take a fight at 100% and that would never have been the case against tyson who has always been such a great fighter. When Lewis was at his best Tyson always would have struggled.

If they let Mike bite lewis's Shins off it may just take the height advantage and tyson would reck him..otherwise i think lewis is just way to tall for tyson and just jabs his way to a UD

Tyson is not Tua he would be all over Lewis and force him to be negative and thus loose a UD.

Lewis easy. Prime vs. prime??? Lennox beat everyone worthy in his prime; Tyson' arguably best opponent in his prime was Douglas and we saw what happened there. Spinks??? What a joke. Lewis would have been in trouble maybe as said already up to the 4th or 5th, but after that it's goodnight. Whenever Lewis had his mind on a fight and didn't underestimate, he was devastating.

If Tyson could get to him early he would stop Lewis imo, BUT If he couldnt stop him in 6 rounds he would get stopped himself in 10 or so.

Fighters that give Tyson trouble are rangy fighters with a good jab Tillis was able to stay away from Tyson and give him alot of trouble especially with those body shots and the movement and just to let you know Tillis had a even weaker chin than Lewis 22 of Tillis's losses were by ko or tko and he was also stopped twice in the first round.

My response about Tua was to someone else who said that just because Lewis beat Tua he would beat Tyson, and I responded that Tua is not Tyson.

I didn't say Lewis had weak chin i said Tillis had a far weaker one Lewis's chin may of not been granite but he could take his whacks aswell and Bonecrusher ?? he was nothing more than a journeyman with a big punch his boxing skills were below average and that showed getting outboxed by Marvis Frazier and losing every round to Bruno before he got a lucky punch in the final round no way would Lewis fight anywhere near the same way Bonecrusher did.

I have to believe it is true. Lennox could have finished Tyson off at anytime in that fight after the 4th....Even Tyson himself said he was hurt in the early part of the fight and could not recover..Lennox knew that as well...Lewis wanted to make a statement.

Lennox would either stop Tyson late or win a ud his height and jab would have his jab in Tyson's face and punish him all night and maybe stop him with a good right in the later rounds of the fight probably the 11 and as far as carees go lennox was better as well lennox was better then tyson in every way and yea i am a lennox fan and think he would kill tyson all i am going to say about that
