It's great you like a guy from your town and want to root for him. And congrats on your silver glove.
So you say you are a student of the sport... take a pen and paper with you when you watch this fight in Memphis. Miranda is gonna teach you that your hometown hero is not what you think he is! After the fight you can consider yourself more educated.
I guess. good luck and god bless.

Yes I said it Pavlik swats harder than that Columbian with a glass jaw.
Nahhh. If he hits so hard than why did all those flush shots on Pierre take 4 rounds until the ref stopped the fight? And even than Pierre looked ready to continue. On the other hand Duddy absolutely murdered the guy in 90 seconds. Makes you question the power of Pavlik...
Not to get in the middle of this...but Pierre looked ready to continue? Should have been stopped in the first, Pavlike was toying with him.

Re: *Breaking News* It's OFFICIAL - Miranda vs. Pavlik on May 19th on HBO*
Pavlik has him hurt at the end of round 1, but couldnt stop him.
And yea, Pierre jumped up off the canvas right away and could have continued, but the ref was looking for a reason to stop the fight. No doubt Pavlik beat the shit out of Pierre, but he didnt have the skills or power to finish him as early as he should have (like Duddy did in 90 seconds)

Re: *Breaking News* It's OFFICIAL - Miranda vs. Pavlik on May 19th on HBO*
One thing Pavlik has developed into is a patient fighter.
-
Re: *Breaking News* It's OFFICIAL - Miranda vs. Pavlik on May 19th on HBO*
That is so true. 4 or 5 years ago, Pavlik would have been running all over the place to knock his opponent out. Now he paces himself, hits with better accuracy and has outstanding KOs. (and KOs fighters who have never been KOd or even seen the canvas before.) :boxingmatch:

Re: *Breaking News* It's OFFICIAL - Miranda vs. Pavlik on May 19th on HBO*
The real question is this? Can Pavlik take a punch? We know Pantera can hit. Even if you think his power is a little overrated, you have to admit he can crack. For me there should be two stipulated facts on any real discussion about this fight. Pavlik has never been in with a someone with Pantera's power, but Pavlik has more skill than Pantera. I...if you deny that, you have no credibility in my eyes.
If Pavik has enough chin and heart to take some shot and keep throwing, we'll get to find out if Pavlik has power that translates against a real opponent. Green froze in his tracks as soon as he tasted Miranda's right and basically stopped throwing. As soon has as he threw, he got hit and hurt. I don't think the same will happen to Pavlik. I think he will throw back, but that could lead to him getting hit...potential early night. To me, it's facinating matchup. I like both fighters. I've been wanting to see Pavlik fight a decent opponent for a while and that time has finally come.

I think the question you need to ask can Miranda take Pavlik on the chin. Miranda has been knocked down by weak opponents before. So think can Miranda take Pavlik's two hand arsenal. He hits just as hard with his left as the right.

Green is a puncher and far from weak... not to mention Edison was moving backwards and had his feet crossed when Green hit him, Miranda was far from hurt, he took the 8 count got up and showed ABSOLUTELY NO effects and continued on like nothing had happened

Re: *Breaking News* It's OFFICIAL - Miranda vs. Pavlik on May 19th on HBO*
I can't wait for this fight. Everyone will finally see what i've been saying for a long ass time. Give him a shot at anyone and they will drop. HE HAS WAY TO MUCH POWER IN BOTH HANDS. He writes with his left. People get ready, and believe the hype. There is a good video on youtube that shows both knockdowns of Zertuche. I didnt realize how hard he actually hit him in the 1st knockdown, but watch the video and you'll see. It would be cool if someone could post it.

Re: *Breaking News* It's OFFICIAL - Miranda vs. Pavlik on May 19th on HBO*
8) I saw Pavlik fight a guy from Mexico Just recently the guy from Mexico had not ever lost but moved way up in weight to take this fight with not much time to train for it. Well I was suprised he was able to hit Pavlik and it went into past the middle rounds before Pavlik stopped him. Also Pavlik was in great shape he said before that fight. This fight was the under card of the Arce fight at the OC Pond did anybody see it? Pavlik wasn't empressive not at all to anybody sitting around me anyways infact both fights stunk! I think if Miranda lands his shot he will stop Pavlik who stands right infront of his opponent to get hit and he better not do that against Miranda early as he did with this other kid or this will be and early fight. After he mentioned he wanted Taylor Pavlik better not even think of taking on Taylor or Wright!8)

I've asked that question. Miranda has never been KO'd. He's been knocked down, sure, the knockdown against Green was flash, and at that, I'm not sure you would call Green a "weak" opponent. Honestly, Pavlik has probably never fought anyone as good as Green.
Still, I think that with SKILL, Pavlik might stand a chance, maybe even have a good chance, but please, don't try to say that Pavlik's power will be something new to Pantera. Pavlik has fought sparring partner's compared Pantera's resume. That's not even up for debate.

Re: *Breaking News* It's OFFICIAL - Miranda vs. Pavlik on May 19th on HBO*
I think the key thing here is Pavliks stamina, and I say this cause like I said before he starts to slap not punch by the 4th round you'll notice this.
If this fight goes past the mid-way point look for Pavliks stamina to go down and be the determining factor of the fight.
The only opponents I give credit to Pavlik for are McKart & Zuniga (and Zuniga is just me being nice)
Pavliks gonna find out what a difference levels of competions make.

DID you even catch the Abraham fight were Arthur backed him up at will it frustrated him so bad he started being cheap. Wow I want to be his fan too. Eatman hurt him.Green hurt him.Pavlik swats harder than Green and is highly skilled. Yes Pavlik has a good chin too. What makes you think that Pavlik cant back him up and put him on the ground.

Berto, Hearns Added To Taylor-Spinks Card
Unbeaten Winter Haven, Florida native Andre Berto (17-0, 15 KO’s) takes on Martinus Clay (12-14-2, 4 KO’s) in a ten round welterweight bout.
Super bantamweight standout Jose Navarro (25-2, 11 KO’s) will be in action as he faces Roberto Gomez (14-14-2, 10 KO’s) in an 8 round super bantamweight tilt.
Undefeated Ronald Hearns (13-0, 11 KO’s) will also see action in Memphis. The Motor City native Hearns will go toe to toe with Dennis Sharpe (17-4, 4 KO’s) of Bayonne, N.J. in an eight round middleweight clash. The hard-hitting Hearns has disposed of 11 of his 13 career opponents with a knock out.
In the co-feature, no. 1 ranked IBF middleweight contender Edison Miranda (28-1, 24 KO’s) collides with No. 1 rated WBC middleweight contender Kelly Pavlik (30-0, 27 KO’s) in a twelve round WBC eliminator bout billed as “The Right to Fight”

Whaaaaaaaaat??
cc for the news!
Damn, that's gonna be one hell of a showcase card.
Those are the names I wanted to see on the PBF - ODLH undercard.
Something showcasing the future "names" of the sport while the world is watching.
That card is STACKED.

Re: Berto, Hearns Added To Taylor-Spinks Card
Tommy Hearns was great, but Ronald Hearns will win only as long as they give him bad fighters. He just does not have a good amateur career. He only went to boxing when his basketball career was over I think. But he is doing ok for a guy who just boxes to fill in the time.

Re: Berto, Hearns Added To Taylor-Spinks Card
it is very rare to have a great fighter have a kid whose fighter is great. Now Floyd is a possible great, but his dad was not great. Sometimes a not so great fighter has a kid who is great like Roy Jones Jr. But not both of them. So the chances of Ronald Hearns doing well is very slim. I hope he does well but he probably will not , as well as Chavez Jr.

:coolclick: #1630 you news posting Whore....  ;D  I luv the scoop you be dishing Homie.... You Fukin know it happy crappy, this shizit beith good news and just another great card for 07... My boy Berto is on the fast track to stardom... His opponent aint shat according to his record, but being active is good and no need to get Berto rushed and busted up or befuddled in a marquee fight at this stage..
Welter is such a stacked division... I gotta tell you Joshua Clottey has captured my attention since Margarito and then how he dismantled Chico(God Bless his soul) Gamo I really want to see a Healthy Clottey and Margarito Re-match...
Clottey has the goods and is my dark horse in the Welterweight division..
I know we talk about the 4 way of Williams, Margarito, Cotto, Judah but Clottey needs to be in the mix somewere.. I dont count his fight against MArgarito as his "shot" that fight was close, real close and could have easily been a draw or Clottey's fight... Both were injured and both had good excuses for not putting the other away convinceingly  ;)
-
Re: Berto, Hearns Added To Taylor-Spinks Card
Clicked you already JT earlier on. I don't want to go too off topic but yeah both men were hurt but Tony showed more heart and won imo.
And as for a rematch,a fully fit Tony beats Clottey for me. Clottey ALWAYS starts amazingly fast(I have 5 of his fights, the main ones, same thing) and he ALWAYS gasses,it's just something about him first and second,he weighed in at 170 pounds for the Corrales fight,he needs to move up!!!!
In a return match,Margarito would focus on his body allllll night long and if he can wear Clottey out with those arm punches(Clottey looked winded in round 9 I think, reeling back to the ropes after a bodyshot), then he can do it easier to him fully fit and anyway,Clottey's hands are in awesome position to protect the face but not the body. Dam Clottey is a good name to have on the resume 8)

Well here is the problem. Leon Spinks was not great so his kid might be better. I am joking here although the great fighters usually do not have great fighting sons. And I doubt anyone would say Leon Spinks is great but I might be wrong. But I am not that knowledgeble on boxing history so if anyone can tell me who was a great boxer and who had a son a great boxer please clue me in. The Spinks/Taylor fight I am not sure of. It looks like Taylor will stop Spinks but at the same time Spinks is fast and he is a good fighter and he is southpaw and he did fight his last two fights at 154 pounds just 6 under what they will fight. Taylor should win and get his right hand through. But I would not be surprised if Spinks does better than people think he will.

Re: Berto, Hearns Added To Taylor-Spinks Card
Jermaine needs a good fighter to fight like Calzaghe, and Joe needs Jermaine. It is a great matchup which at this point I am not sure who would win but they need each other. Fighting Spinks is a good tuneup for Jermaine and he could have trouble. He seems to struggle in fights where he does not stop his opponent. But let's hope he fights Calzaghe or someone fights Calzaghe since Joe deserves the shot at the big time. I think the winner of Winky/Hopkins should fight Calzaghe. Joe would beat Bernard on decision I think, and with Winky I pick Joe because of size. Jermaine Taylor vs. Joe Calzaghe is a pickem fight. Great matchup..

Pavlik plans to bully Miranda!
Pavlik, who has trained for weeks in his hometown of Youngstown, said he prepared to take on Miranda who has a difficult style, punches hard and presents a lot of different looks during a fight. "Miranda is a big puncher with a bigger mouth," Pavlik told fight writer Joe Maxse of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "The way you stand up to a bully is to bully him.
