I think mathew hatton would be a tougher fight than gomez as i think hes a better boxer nd i dont know how every1 c's alfonjso stopping gatti as he doesnt have much power nd some1 said he gasses out nd i no gatti's far from his best but i feel aslong as he in gd shape hes still got enough ability to get a ud or ko over someone of gomez's or M hattons calibre.

Gatti should be able to beat Gomez IMO. Isn't Gomez like almost equal to Jesse Feliciano, they had a trilogy or something right? I can't stand Feliciano, he's a punk, but he's tuff. So is Gomez. Gatti is too, but he's a class above these two guys and should be able to out box Gomez and hurt him. It'll be an exciting fight and surly one of Gatti's last, and for sure his last if he loses.

ok ted i can be pretty mean in response to stupid things people post but i'll try to be nice on this one.
A. that is not a complete sentence. The full form would be (which i didnt post because thats what the elipses are for) "If the shoe fits, wear it" which would be said in response to something like "so are you saying that (insert an object here) is (insert an adjective here)?" Basically if a title pretty much describes someone/thing, call them/it by that title.
B. (and most importantly) Even if used correctly that expression has NOTHING to do with my previous post. There's no way you could even make sense of using it there. ::** ???

Gomez is a journeyman and Arturo is a former champion, Gatti must be becoming pretty desperate if the best opponent he can find right for his skills is a hyped up brawler from a TV show.

This is a brilliant decision on Gatti's part.....did you the UK Vs USA contender, the crowd cheered more for Gomez than Conception. Gomez has a pretty good fan base and put that with Gatti's fanbase and you have a major ticket seller.

Low risk? I don't think so. If Gatti has anything left, he wins. If he is shot, he loses badly. Off the Baldomir fight, I am betting the later. I could be wrong, but more often than not, I am right and I am backing my analysis this time with a chunck of green (with appropriate W.C. Field's type odds, of course).

gatti is a former champ (shot or not it makes do difference, he's been in the ring with good fighters). Gomez has never been in the ring with a legit contender let alone a former champ. (and you can bring up ishe smith, manfredo and feliciano here and i will ask you to show me any of the paper titles they have held by beating any chump in the world that can practically buy a title today and they haven't beaten any champiuon legit or otherwise.)

In previous eras of boxing you could make cases for some fighters being great when they never held a world title but in this day and age when theres enough titles for everyone to share not even getting a shot at one speaks volumes. Let's say gomez beats gatti (which he wont) who can he possibly fight and beat? Mayweather? Judah? Cotto? Spinks? i am asking you, if he wins this fight what bigger and better things will he move onto successfully?

If he is shot, everything you assert becomes academic. If not, I lose my bet. Simple as that. The point is I am betting on his being shot. I remember Michael Nunn catching a shot Cecil Pettigrew and savaging him. These guys can lose it all over night. Gomez is a known quantity; Gatti is not. Gatti may or may not have any gas left in the tank. Tyson looks likes he is going to murder McBride and quits on his stool. Gatti won't quit, but he could get hammered. If he gets pinned agaisnt the ropes, my guess is they will stop it fats so as not to let him take any unnecessary punishment and risk the warth of the fans. Either way, I will be at ringside.

i like gomez but the guy is a club fighter really, not at all world class.....IMO he will never be a world champion, but i would love it see it happen though

The difference between beingh a club fighter and a world champion is all the differnce in thew world. Gomez may not make it to chamapion, but he is by no means a club fighter. His skill set far exceeds that of a club fighter.
