Rest in Peace my good man, I heard the news when I walked into work today, the ironic thing is, you popped into my mind on the ride in :'( I'm so gutted your were one of my favorites and along with Holyfield thinking about some of your performances have lifted me up in my own times of despair or when I needed strength and inspiration
your courage, will and determination all go without saying.. As we were in constant awe of your fighting spirit and extrodinary heart, you were just being you and wouldnt have it any other way, you didnt act courageous, you were courageous..
Thanks for the constant inspiration. My prayers go out to your beautiful family, may they get the strength they need to cope with this tremendous loss..
On a side note Diego I feel as a fellow Motorcyle Rider I have to say this so dont be mad... When I here you were traveling at a high rate of speed on your racing bike.. It saddens me that you werent careful, you owe it to your family and friends to do everything in your power to come home safe after a ride..
Whats done is done I know, luv you brutha you were all heart
I was ripped by this story this morning when I got into work... I seriously welled up... :'( This is a true lose... The sweet science doesn't get warriors like that often. What a fighter... What a carreer...
What a tragity!!! :-\
It's very tragic that he died, but as a rider for over 35 years, I knew someone here would blame the motorcycle which is also tragic. I don't know all the circumstances behind the accident but I know it was not the motorcycles fault.Quote:

Tragic way to go out. This serves as a reminder that the fighters we love (and hate) are human, and deserve our respect, no matter what.
Peace be with his family and his soul.
A warrior just died...
Strange that he died exactly 2 years to the day after his legendary 10th round defeat of Castillo!!
Weird that :-\Quote:

Chico, I thank you for all the memories and battles you have left us with. I hope you are in a better place and that you know your fans greatly appreciated your career, your heart, and for being such an all-around good guy.
R.I.P. Chico
Really tragic. Corrales was one of my favorites just on his sheer courage alone. On Sunday night me and a bunch of friends were watching Frietas/Juan Diaz, and I brought up how Corrales made Frietas quit several fights back before this one. They didn't really follow boxing so I talked about how gutsy Corrales was and about his fights with Castillo.
Goddamn what a shame, this is really a terrible thing to wake up and read about. My prayers go out to him and his family and loved ones. I dont know what else to say, I'm like all of you: shocked and depressed to hear that such a good, gutsy fighter who I really admired has died before he could even reach his 30s. Its a crying shame.
RIP Chico. I got a bit sick in my stomach and teared up reading the story. One of those fighters you'll never forget for his courage in the ring. :'(
RIP, warrior and thanks for what you gave us.
Oh man, horrible news to wake up to, god dam it what a warrior he was. Rest in peace Diego, thanks for the memories, from a real heart broken fan.

en paz descanses Diego, el mundo del boxeo nunca te olvidara.
Just heard the news and it is with a lump in the throat and tear in the eye I type. Such a sad loss for boxing. A real gentleman outside the ring and a real warrior in the ring. His fight against Castillo is probably one the finest fights I have seen and will be a top fight in many boxing fans views. What a fight that was and he showed the true warrior heart that cemented him as a hero to me and many others.
Hard to believe we wont see Chico in action again. A terrible loss to the sport, gone but will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Chico.
I just read this on www.fightnews.com
I don't know what to say except I'm sorry I said so many cruel things about him and that I never truly appreciated him until the Clottey fight.
I hate motorcycles.
Damn. F@ckin motorcycles are so dangerous. I guess that's how he was though, you know, he liked to live on the edge and take it to the limit. He fought like that too. Diego was a fighter with a hell of a heart. He was exciting to watch and man he had balls too, to move up and just take on Clottey at welterweight. My heart and prayers go out to his family...and remember...as long as you keep someone close to your heart and your mind, they will never truly be gone. With great fighters like "Chico" Corrales, we have been given so many great memories, they will never truly fade away. Diego gave us those kind of fights and those kind of memories. He was/is so many things, but one thing he will never be is forgotten.
Diego Corrales, rest in piece, dude. You were a great fighter and a really good man. I know they gonna be up there expectin you with open arms and one hell of an after-fight party.
When i seen the topic i just hoped he had retired and not this... What can you say to news like this? he was a true warrior, respected by all and rightly so.

LAS VEGAS (TICKER) -- Ricky Hatton has hailed Diego Corrales as one of the stand-out fighters of his generation after the 29-year-old former two-weight world champion was killed in a motorcycle accident in Las Vegas.
Hatton said Corrales, with whom he had long been linked for a prospective future fight, deserved to rise above many of his rival champions because of his attacking style and his desire to test himself against the best of his time.
"It is absolutely tragic news," Hatton told PA SportsTicker. "I had a lot of admiration for Diego Corrales and his mega-fight against Jose Luis Castillo deserves to be ranked among the finest of all time.
"I had often been linked with a fight against Corrales, and it is a fight I would have loved. He was my kind of fighter, a fighter's fighter. He was very passionate about his sport and boxing is a lot worse off without him."
Hatton is training to fight Castillo in Las Vegas next month. Corrales will be best remembered for his extraordinary recovery from two knockdowns to stop Castillo in the 10th round of their third meeting exactly two years ago.
"I am proud to have promoted one of the true warriors of the game," Corrales' promoter Gary Shaw said. "My heart goes out to his wife and kids. Boxing has lost one of the most exciting fighters in the ring."
Las Vegas police said Corrales was travelling at considerable speed prior to the accident, which reportedly involved at least one more vehicle. His manager James Prince said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Good to see y'all too...despite it being such a tragic event that I came to post about. Wanted to be amongst my boxing brethren after hearing about this. [click] 8)Quote:

its ironic how a fighter who lived his life on the edge in the ring in the way he fought could be wiped out by a simple accident such as this but also very very sad :'(
