Ricky looked like a fighter in decline against Lazcano but based on the performance he gave vs Malignaggi he has what it takes to beat Pacquiao.
Pacquiao has been flattered recently with stoppage wins over Diaz and Oscar but before that he didnt look good vs Marquez and Barrea who are older smaller Mexicans. Hatton will bring far more to the ring than a weight drained Oscar or a limted Diaz. Plus with Mayweather snr refining his boxing skills he will pose a huge threat to Pac who has been stopped before by lesser men. He was also beaten by Morales who was in decline so I see Hatton starting as a comfortable favourite in this fight. Unless he cuts I struggle to see Pac beating him .
I can agree with that. If Hatton does his homework and lays off the grease fodder then he can beat Manny. He will certainly check the Pac chin and has a style that could potentially give Manny fits. Going on recent performances Manny has the edge, but Diaz isnt particularly good and Oscar was just bizarre. Hatton showed promising signs against Paulie, but it will be great to see him try and deal with a hard hitting, two handed fighter like Pac. Will be a war, and Manny hasnt yet been properly checked above 135 pounds.Quote:

Hatton is relentless fighter and keeps coming straight forward because Hatton he knows he has skills on the inside and wants to use them. Mayweather Sr. aint going to change Hatton. I just cannot believe Manny is going to fight Hatton. Hatton is a great fighter losing once to Mayweather in his 40 something fights as a welter weight. Manny is a great fighter but hes coming from a Super featherweight. When a small fighter like that tries to move up so quick bad things happen. I wish him the best though.

hatton with a very late stinging body punch that floors manny and has roach jumping in to save his fighter from further punishment!
I can see pac out boxing him in the early rounds.. not hurting ricky, but racking up the points.. then he will make a defensive error and leave himself open, like he did often against JMM, and Hatton will catch him with a smoking hot shot to the ribs, and pac man will be on a downward spiral from here.. he will survive the next 3 rounds but be DOMINATED and will often be clinging onto ricky for dear life, then Ricky will finish him off with a barrage of more body shots in the 9th.
This is all depending on if Ricky uses his body shots, which were almost non-existant in the malignaggi fight.. I didn't understand it, is Floyd encouraging him not to use arguably his best punch in his arsenal?

I agree, lat two fights are a bit misleading. Very hard to call this fight as there are so many unknowns, the key one being how does Pac really handle the extra weight against a genuine LWW. only two fights for Pac over 130 and one of those guys was very limited and the other didn't turn up.Quote:

IMO, Pac is to fast and to strong. He was able to keep his power fighting at 147 lbs, and his speed. Hatton is a great inside fighter, IF he can get there. Pacs footwork, speed, and straight left will keep Hatton at bay allowing Pac to systematically break him down, eventually leading to a KO. I think by 9 or 10. Just look at how FMW Jr did it. Hatton didnt know if he was British or Scotish by then end of that fight!
I think Pacquaio was 144lbs when he stepped into the ring with David Diaz and 147/8 with De la Hoya so he is already a natural jr welter weight which is mostly muscle I might add. Heres my take one the fight...Ricky will have trouble early on adjusting to Mannys speed and style. Then I think things will fall into place and the tides will begin to turn around rounds 4 or 5. I think in the first few rounds a few important things will happen. One, pac will continually land his left hand on his target and realize that his while he lands his punches, he cant back up the Hitman. Two, Ricky will begin to establish the jab, yes the jab. Yes indeed, almost impossible to pick, the both are exceptional top class fighters with very different styles and neither of them has ever met someone similar. There are indeed many unknowns like how Pacman will handle the extra weight against a legitimate LWW, will he struggle to avoid the inside fight with such a pressure-fighter who knows perfectly how to cut the ring?
