Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
comparing hatton to ruiz saying with more speed and aggression
is like me comparing mayweather to paulie except mayweather has more power....
you dont see how true boxers cant appreciate mayweathers style???
but you can totally dismiss hatton's no skill grabbing though huh???
by the way no one said they didnt appreciate PBF skill... i said "running" style caus it pisses me off when they equate hatton skills to grabbing..and for some reason those same people love the sh!t out of mayweather..

Since you keep asking, here's the easy answer: holding is illegal.
More substantively, the difference is that using movement to not get hit requires a great deal of skill and athleticism. This is why even people who don't like Floyd's defensive style constantly preface this by saying things like "I mean, I respect his skill, but..." or "I can appreciate that he's great, but...." Excessive holding, on the other hand, does not require any skill or athleticism at all. This is obvious from the fact that any fight you watch between a couple of guys with no amateur background and only a handful of fights under their belts is characterized by excessive holding. And while some people may not
like watching defensive movement, no one even
appreciates watching holding.
That is a super post SHZA,cc in 24. sums up how I feel. I can appreciate Floyd,I'd consider myself a huge fan of his skills and like to watch him box but I cannot stand the holding. I've watched the fight 3/4 times,I've tried to enjoy it but I can't.

holding excessive (for along time) is illegal.... JLC held too
you all are right mayweather defence is skillfull and hatton is a nonexciting holding fighter..... ::**
you keep giving each other cc's for defending that holding is bad and mayweather footwork is skillfull......NO SH!IT ...HOW EASY IS IT TO ARGUE THAT POINT...
THATS NOT EVEN WHAT I'M ARGUING AGAINST
where was all of you when saddo was slamming the hatton haters at the end of the match ........ yeah you all was silent about hatton holding, then you all start bashing on the guy getting thrown out for not giving due credit to hatton and his style..
ITS YOU GUYS ARROGENT THOUGHT THAT: MAYWEATHER STYLE IS SO SUPERIOR TO HATTON'S STYLE THAT IS PISSING ME OFF... WE ARE ALL AMATURE BOXING ANALYST....
then when saddo leaves its back to.... HATTON HOLDS SO MUCH ITS UNBEARABLE TO WATCH... FU#KING PLEASE....
I was simply comparing mayweather's 3,4 punch move away style
to hatton 3,4 hold style..... and you all just cant get it huh...
now if you want to argue that mayweathers tactics are more skillfull than hatton's that is one thing, but to act like mayweather is some exciting fighter to watch and with the same eyes hatton's style is boring, holding to the point where you cant watch is just f**** stupid....
REALITY: HATTON IS KNOWN BY MOST FANS WORLDWIDE AS A EXCITING FIGHTER
MAYWEATHER IS KNOWN FOR BEING A SKILLFULL, BORING FIGHTER BY FANS AND JORNALIST AROUND THE WORLD NOT JUST ME..... EVERYONE LOVED THE DLH-PBF MATCH ...OH YEAH DLH CHASED HIS ASS AROUND THE RING FOR 12.. THAT WAS SO MUCH MORE EXCITING AND SKILLFUL THAN THE BEATDOWN HATTON GAVE CASTILLO ::**
SHZA: LIKE I SAID BEFORE JUMP IN THE RING W/ (UNSKILLFULL HOLDING) HATTON AT 140
THEN JUMP IN THE RING W/ MAYWEATHER AT 154 AND SEE WHO F#### YOU UP MORE
i know i am making alot of enemies quick on this issue
sorry if i offended anyone ..but it offends me to hear such great posters on boxing equate hattons style to simply holding to much
i know alot of arguing with me dont get my point, but i know alot of people are reading and do get my point
again sorry if i offended anyone
i know mayweather would probably beat hatton
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
Look if Hatton's so hard to watch, then just don't watch him....
If u wanna have a jr. welter champion who fights exactly the way u want, go find him then get him to beat Hatton...

lol.. thank you for a reality dose.............
i think malignaggi fits the description throw him in their w/ the unskilled, barely-watchable, hatton and see what happens..... :o
oh all people that moves good dont have good defence (comparing PBF to malignaggi) well not all people that hold is 43-0 2 division 4 time champ

Since moving up, all his focus is on defense. All the names you mentioned were at 135 or below. I would much rather see a fighter use a little clinching and try to KO his man than use his legs to run and pot shot his way to boring decision, ie Floyd against Baldy and Oscar or Andre Dirrell against Stevens.
Again...it's all what you want to see & how you view boxing. Floyd is exciting & the Oscar fight he took chances. Trust me...seeing that fight live & watching it on the telee are two totally different thing...as is any fight that anyone has sat through. Floyd hurt Oscar, Oscar hurt Floyd & Floyd did very little "running" as his "detractors" like to say.
Also...I don't go for that "what have you done for me lately" bullshit...because it is just that...TOTAL BULLSHIT.
Boxing is boxing & fighters are fighters & if they keep on winning & outclassing their opponents, which Floyd does...then the critique is ridiculous & unfounded.
The fact that Floyd has been in action fights in days gone by doesn't mean jack to them because he's not a knockout artist...that's just crap. Boxing is what it is & whether you like him or not...Floyd is boxing.

The problem is...clenching is fucking clenching & it's painful to watch regardless. I hated it during the Tszyu fight & every other one since. He couldn't do it against Collazo as much because Collazo didn't stand there to be clenched.
I agree with Lederman...Hatton was doing the holding...he always does.
Fact.
Sorry...but it is. That being said...I'm proud of Hatton for the win & I think that it is very VERY distasteful that people were salivating over this match up weeks & months prior bu then tore down Castillo the minute Hatton dropped him & no matter what anyone says...Castillo wasn't just sitting that one out. He got stopped.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
I agree with your post apart from 1 thing Wack,Floyd took VERY LITTLE risk v Oscar apart from the last 3 rounds, when he knew Oscar would be tired. His focus is almost entirely on defence at the higher weights with limited offense, potshots, which I personally don't mind because his defence is superb but what the main issue is:
Would you prefer to watch a guy who holds BUT tried to go for the KO and give the fans what they want
OR
Would you prefer to watch a guy who takes very little risk, focusses mainly on defence and coming out with the W?
Personally,I enjoy watching Floyd more because I don't like too much holding but I can see where Hatton fans are coming from. And I think the average Joe would much rather watch someone go for the KO than watch a defensive master like Floyd.

One thing you'll need to learn in order to stay on this forum...try to discuss & not argue. No one here is arguing...just you. :coolclick: s are given out between members that respect & agree with one another from time to time. You have a few of them...that means someone has either agreed with something you said...or liked it. It aint because you viciously argued your point.

Now...you need to step back & rethink what youv'e just stated. Go back & read the round by round...I was sour from the beginning from start to finish on Hatton's holding & made that very VERY apparent...but I respected his win...I was also disgusted with the fact that everyone ripped on Castillo the minute Hatton stopped him.
We all pride ourselves in being tight knit here & enjoying each other's company. Questioning people's integrity the way that you are...that aint cool.
No one's not giving Hatton credit...just because their not saying what you want to hear doesn't make you right & them wrong.
Again...don't let your emotions rule your posts. You won't last long.
Debate...not argue.

You have to look at it like this...live & learn. Everyone always discusses their likes & dislikes regarding fighters. If I got so pissed off (like you have) over what people said about Wright, Floyd, & Hopkins & acted a fool over it...I'd have been gone the first week.
Don't make that mistake. Just calm down & listen & comment maturely. Stay awhile.

IWO, Hatton moving up...he loses.
IWO, Floyd moving down...Floyd loses.
I say that the fight is very improbable.

Honestly...I can't answer that question with just a yes or no...because I'm just not a big Hatton fan & in comparison to Floyd...well there is no comparison for me.
As noted...I really liked the fact that Hatton won...but I do not like his style. As noted prior in regards to my favorite fighters...I like a fighter that is a defense first fighter & slips, slides, picks & chooses shots, & then places them.
People kill me saying that Floyd takes little risk...every fighter takes a risk climbing through the ropes.
You have to look at it like this...because Floyd doesn't get hurt, bloodied, battered, dropped, punished, or whatever...does that make him a fighter that takes no risks & runs? People say yes...but what about the man across the ring from him? He's the one that is usually hurt, bloodied, battered, & punished...so let people say what they will...but I like Floyd & no matter what anyone has to say about that...it will stay that way.
The Hatton fights, to me, are ugly. I'm not saying that Hatton is not skilled...because he is...I just don't like that type of fighter.

Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
From scale of 1 to 10. I give Hatton 8.
A win is a win, eventhough it was an ugly victory.
I hate Hatton's fighting style.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
Alright now this is getting crazy. Ruiz err Hatton being compared to Floyd is ludicrous. Everyone here who knows my posting in here knows that I'm no fan of PBF but he fights within the rules and he shows plenty of skill.
My problem with Floyd is that I think he is defrauding the public with his claims to be the best without fighting the best in their primes. Now Ruiz, I'm sorry I just keeps coming out that way, Hatton is a likable guy and has good speed and pretty good skill but it's rarely shown because he spends so much time holding and mauling.
I for one, am not a fan of holding and you Hatton fans can defend him all day but it is what it is.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
I understand why some people do not like Hattons style, he does hold and tangle people up after all, thats his syle. Altough i understand this view i personally do not like the way mayweather fights because regardless of his skill, his fights are a snoozefest, The majority of hattons fights i have seen have been more exciting than the mayweather fights i have seen.
I really do hope Hatton and Mayweather fight, it will diffenently be bigger than the de la hoya fight, both are unbeaten and are in the prime fighters age, both have contrasting styles which people either love or hate, both are champions, 1 is from america and 1 is from england, one is cocky and flashy while the other is an average british guy, it has the ingrediants for a terrific fight. My only other thought is what weight the fight would be fought at, i would guess that it would be at welterweight, in this case although i would want hatton to beat mayweathers cocky ass so bad, i think mayweather would win based on hattons performance against collazo at welterweight.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
I think he did fine i'd give him a 8 or 9...castillio's performance is in no way hattons fault and reguardless of all that hatton took care of buisness hattons style doesn't bother me as much as some others i think he performed well.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?

DELETE DEM MESSAGES BEEEEEEEEEEYOTCH!! ;D

usually ricky comes out a row with a cut or a swollen up head so he did well on that account
as for for fight itself he blew the guy away as expected

What Floyd fights have you seen? Apart from Baldimor I can't recall a single fight over which you could realistically say was a snooze fest. ???
His fights with Jesus Chavez, Diego Corrales, Philip N'Dou, De Marcus Corely, Arturo Gatti were all either barnburners or eles a superb clinical display of destructive skill.
Hand on heart apart from the routine defense against Baldomir I have never seen a FLoyd Mawyeather fight that I didn't prefer to every Hatton fight I've ever seen.

:coolclick: Totally agree.
But as I always say when arguements like this arise...it's all in what you like from boxing.
I love a tactical slickster...others have to have a brawler or knockout artist to get a rise outta their seats.
That just aint me.
Brains over brawn...that's why I have always loved the lesser weights & never understood the love of the heavyweight over the middles.
Again...that's just me.
