Five guys right there that feel so obligated to S*** on a fighter they simply dont like that they are prepared to turn a blind eye to the facts.
Those facts are that after the Castillo fight Hatton said on camera that Floyd is the fight he wants. He has repeated it today on film.
End of story.
If there is something I am missing please enlighten me.
One word: welterweights
not too complicated is it wacko?

Hatton needs PBF more than PBF needs Hatton IMO. It will play itself out one way or another. But whatever does happen, no one can blame PBF if this fight does'nt get made at this point.
To be honest fighting Hatton adds no more to Floyd's resume than fighting Baldimor or Gatti imo.
Honestly who even cares about Hatton? I'd rather see Floyd in with Cotto, Margarito, Mosely, Ouma, Karmazin, Spinks, hell even Mayorga or Vargas.
thats offensive
yes, cotto is the one who should get to fight mayweather, and mosley is #2, but hatton is EASILY #3
also, i support hatton in demanding that mayweather come down to 140

Anybody who calls a man that stepped into a ring with Kostya Tszyu a coward is just plain crazy.
I wouldn't...unless I just felt like getting knocked on my ass ;D

Re: Hatton : Mayweather must make light-welter to fight me
I would never use the word coward or scared to describe any fighter. Boxing is a business & guys make what they think is the best business decision for their careers.

Re: Hatton : Mayweather must make light-welter to fight me
" That's what peees me off about giving some interviews, the words you say can be taken completely out of context.
Floyd has made no secret of the fact that he wants to fight at 147lbs, we have already accepted the fight from our end, and we will fight him anywhere in America, Central Park in a telephone box if we have to. We will say this now, and we hope that people understand what we are saying. Ricky Hatton will be fighting at welterweight, but Ricky will come into the fight as a light-welterweight because thats his best fighting weight, and we dont want to compromise his speed. The ball now lies in Mayweather's court, if he wants the fight, we are ready. "
"And a little footnote, does anybody realise Ricky Hatton came in half a stone lighter against Castillo than he ever has ? He usually comes in between 154 to 156lbs, Ricky came in at 149lbs, and thats his weight from now on. At one stage during training Ricky was at 9 stone 13. This was due to the fact he only had 8 weeks out of the gym after the Urango fight, and instead of having to spend the first four weeks cutting weight, he started straight on the weights, and we all saw the results."
"The Collazo fight was a disaster on all counts, we all got it very wrong, it was a suicidal move, that we all hold our hands up to, and something we have learnt alot from. We put the weight on in the wrong way, we had a very turbulent and short training camp, and Ricky won that fight on heart. "
" Ricky is flying out to Tenerife with his girlfriend to meet up with Jamie Moore and his family, then he is off to Barcelona or Marbella for a short break, then he will be back in the gym for 3 days a week to tick over. He will start full training in the first week of August for a fight in November or early December. He will look even sharper and stronger again as he will only have had 8 weeks out of the gym as he did after Urango. " concluded Ray.

Re: Hatton : Mayweather must make light-welter to fight me
This can be viewed in 2 ways,he is either making excuses for not fighting Floyd OR he is just pushing to see how willing Floyd is to take the fight, trying to maximise his chances of winning by making Floyd lose more weight, come down to the lowest weight possible.
I'm not sure which it is and no-one here can say conclusively until we hear Floyd's response and Hatton's reaction to the response.

:coolclick: you are right Sal I was probably in an angry mood when I wrote that, I think I had run out of teabags or something!
Hatton vs Mayweather is a huge fight no question, Ricky certainly deserves the shot.
I still think he'll get owned but at 43 and 0 he's a legitimate contender.

OK first off this has nothing to do with America and our boy as you like to call him getting beat....
Lets lay out some facts...And while reading this keep in mind I am one of Floyds bigest detractors...don't believe me search the boards and you will see I give him little credit unless forced to
With that being said.....
Floyd never sought out Hatton....As Floyd moved up in weight Hatton Moved back down.....
Floyd Started at SFW...Hatton started at 140 and never went higher then 147....
Floyd has flourished and won the title at 154...To my disapointment I thought the weight would be too much and he would finally get starched but I was wrong ( this is why I spend my days with KillerSheeps sports book hanging on by a thread my predictions suck...Need to bet with mind not heart but that is another story)
Hatton went to 147 won a title and did so with difficulty...In fact 147 was such a problem he went down to 140 again...Now mind you this is a guy who balloons up to 170-180 when not training so 147 should in all reality be more comfortable for him
Floyd retired... ::** (We all know how that works in boxing)...........HATTON CALLED OUT FLOYD FLOYD DID NOT CALL OUT HATTON!!!!!....HATTON STATED CLEARLY HE WANTED FLOYD NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND....HATTON STATED HE SHOWED MORE EXCITEMENT IN HIS BOUT WITH CASTILLO THE FLOYD IN HIS WHOLE CAREER......
Now that Floyd took the bait Hatton is going to state he needs it to be at 140 or no fight BULLSHIT....
That is like Hopkins Calling out Klitschko but then saying he wants the fight at 175....give it a rest already.....Either argue a valid point or don't argue at all...
This America UK crap doesn't fly around here...When someone can not come up with something legit why is it they always use stuff like that as a last resort

The Hatton camp know Mayweather is never going to come down to 140. They're ducking him. Maybe they're ducking because they think they can make more money with alternative fights, that's the most charitable way of looking at this. I wonder what PBF will have to say about it. :)
Here we go again with stupid accusations of ducking..
Ray is not in the hatton camp..He is Ricks dad
And Both billy graham and ricky himself say that they will make 147 should they need to..
This is just a plot to try get him to 140..Why wouldnt they want it there if they could

I agree I do not believe that Hatton is ducking Floyd but I do believe that he is trying too make this to his best advantage....Ricky could not duck Floyd now if he wanted to....If he refused the fight now his credibility would be shot as a fighter and he would never be taken serious again...Untill Hatton actually refuses to fight I or anyone else can not say Hatton is ducking him...Though it is a shady move to try and force the fight to 140....

Re: Hatton : Mayweather must make light-welter to fight me
How short memories people have...I'm sure I recall Hatton turning down Floyd for a.) not meeting Hatton's $13million demand and b.) Hatton was not ready. He asked for a few more fights.
Like I said,we should wait for responses from the respective camps BUT Hatton HAS turned down a fight with Floyd before.

Yep. If Hatton won't fight above 140, then he's basically ending any chance of this fight happening. Mayweather's not coming below 147, and he shouldn't have to.
As for what Mayweather will say about it, he'll say Hatton's ducking him, and he'll be right.
I'd like to see a Hatton-Malignaggi fight. It will be interesting to see what Floyd decides to do.
I agree with you( rare Occasion ;)) PBF would not fight below 140 and HAtton has to come up. IF PBF or Hatton want a piece of the current WW big names the have to make 147 no catch weight crap

OK You are correct I should have worded it different.....Hatton WANTS it at 140 or no fight......
Truth is Memphis most of it is just hear say and a business ploy...From what I understand the contract is signed already...IMO I doubt Hatton would not fight if it wasn't at 140...Or I would hope he would not cancell the fight for that reason anyway...I think more of him then that....
I just hate when people start with the well it should be how so and so wants it or not at all then try to justify any type of unreasonable demand on it

Let him go after the Malignaggi's and Vivian Harris' of the world whilst the real players like Floyd and Cotto get on with fighting each other.

Re: Hatton : Mayweather must make light-welter to fight me
Mayweather can still perform optimally at 140lbs and without doubt it is Hatton's best weight. I'm not sure what everybody's problem is as it is the weight which would deliver the best spectacle for the fans and I thought that's what we all are here, fans of boxing.
So what's wrong with Hatton wanting to give himself the best shot at winning possible? IMO he should do everything he can to fight at 140lbs and only if he absolutely has to, move up to 147 for Mayweather.

On the other hand, 140 is now a stretch for Mayweather. And if you can't fault Hatton for "giving himself the best shot at winning", neither can you fault Floyd if he insists it's either at 147 or nothing. And it's Mayweather who's considered the world's p4p, not Hatton... it seems to me it's Mayweather who sits in the better bargaining position right now. I say if Hatton really wants Mayweather, let him go up to 147, where the action is.

Honestly...I couldn't give a shat what Hatton says or wants...Floyd is the P4P #1 fighter on the planet...Fatton aint in the position to dictate the what, the where, or how & it seems unfeasable to me that Floyd can get down that quickly...safely...for this type of fight.

If the lead post is the actual believe of Hattons camp(note that I said if) theyre huffing
Floyd's the name, and Hatton talked the smack, the fight happens at Floyd's wants and desires
As a fighter,I enjoy Hattons style more then Floyd's(personal prefrence) but Floyd's the name, and Hatton talked himself in to a corner

Here's a thought:
Maybe the Hatton camp can take a page out of Pavlik-Taylor....... take the fight at 147, but demand a rematch clause at 140.

This is talk from his father.....
Hooray!!! Were getting there.
Now find the actual quote where his Daddy says the fight wont take place unless it's at 140
Ricky Hatton's father, Ray, said yesterday that Floyd Mayweather would have to come down to light-welterweight if he wanted to figure in a contest between the two undefeated fighters in November.
pretty much states if Floyd wants the fight Hatton he has to come to 140....
Next time look for it yourself
Thats a 100% bona fide quote from Ray Hatton is it?

Or maybe the journo was relaying secondhand info wrongly. Maybe that's the reason there isn't an actual quote from Ray Hatton. ;)

Re: Hatton : Mayweather must make light-welter to fight me
Mayweather is the one who held the press conference to say he's coming out of retirement to fight Hatton and that he wanted Ricky more than any other fighter ever.
If Floyd really wants the fight so bad, why is fighting Ricky at 140 such a problem?
I think Hatton will easily beat Mayweather at 140. At 147 Ricky still would win but it would be harder for him.

When trying to insult someone on their intelligence you should at least make an attempt to use proper grammar. Moron! :drunks:

Fact is you guys hating on Ricky Hatton still can't back up anything your saying.
It's opinion based on what you want to see/hear. That's what's so annoyoing about this thread. Even though the pro Hatton side are prepared to take you on you won't actually engage the argument...you see an excuse to slate Ricky Hatton and you're off... ::**
