The World and British RBR's! - Chagaev/Skelton and Pickering/Hughes

Matt's style is awful and Ruslan is doing well just picking him off now and Ruslan's left is brilliant.

Rnd 6 even...Chagaev shouldn't take the infight...

Skelton hurt in the corner . Dont often see him covering up for so long . The refs on his back too . Chagaev thinks he has his number and is landing the classy blows. Matts resorted to his agressive tactics but even thats not working against the superior champion .

Roudn 7:

They tie up straight away, and Skelton diggin short uppercuts in the chin. Nice jab fgrom Skelton, then a left. Skelton with a body short. Big flurry from CHagaev, two good hooks land flush and Skeltons' chin is impressive. Skelton jabs then leans on, but not throwing too much. Some short but light uppercuts, then a big uppercut. Right from Chagaev pushes Skelton off balance, but he seems to stumble. Another uppercut in the clinch from Chagaev. Skelton working away in the clinch well. Jab and uppercut from Skelton. Another right uppercut, but a body shot from Skelton. Chagaev seems to fight in spurts. Left hook from Chagaev, but Skelton works away to the body again.

Skelton's round, his first in fouur on my card.

I gave the 7th even both landing good shots.

Ugly fight . Chagaev looks the harder hitter and better boxer . Matt is spoiling but not landing anything

Round 8:

Chagaev trying to draw Matt in, and succeeds, as Matt comes forward with a jab and some decent blows inside. Skelton given a final warning for use of the head. Good right hook from skelton, then moves out of the way of a Chagaev uppercut. Skeltong working inside with more body shots and an uppercut. Chagaev looks a bit nonplussed again with what to do on the inside. Chagaev finds arms with two hooks. Left hook lands on the chest of Skelton. Good left hookfrom CHagaev, but Skelton digs away once again with body shots and uppercuts on the inside. Matt's dictating now and seems to be wearing Chagaev down. Decent left hook from Skelton. Chagaev looking to roll off and isn't working hard enough. Left straight from CHagaev. Skelton deducted a point for use of the head.

10-9 round for Skelton, becomes a 9-9 round for me.

Easy 9-9...but I had Chagaev winning the rnd...

Looks like Chag is cruising to apoints win . I cant see how Matt can turn it round from here . Matt got hurt on the bell .

Round 9:

Whoever said its ugly is bang on. Skelton with a nice uppercut, then a couple of hooks, and another uppercut. Chagaev throwing and missing, while Skelton lands short shots. Two good hooks from CHagaev, who is certainly the better puncher. Good uppercut from Chagaev, but Skelton retorts with body shots. Rigth hook from Chagaev. Skelton finds gloves with shots as he comes in, but lands a decent uppercut. Chagaev with an uppercut as ref splits them. Great left uppercut from Chagaev, but Skelton not too bothered by it. Another nice left uppercut. Ref warning Chagaev for something, no idea what though. Another straight left from Chagaev. Good right hook, and Sketon returns to the corner.

The 9th rnd definitly was for Chagaev...had Skelton wobbled in the last seconds...

I give Ruslan the 9th and scored a good flurry in the last 10 secs and Ruslan is just picking matt off.

Ruslan definitly won that 9th but Skelton is doing better than expected

Matt looking tired . May be age but defo not as strong or fit as the champ at this stage . Matt looks dreary and Chag fancies the stoppage . Good speed and variation by the champ.

Rnd 10 Skelton is getting tired...though Chagaev isn't fresh either...rnd to Chagaev...

Round 10:

Skelton with a couple of jabs. Good left hook from Chagaev. Skelton still looks fairly alert. Skelton pinging ut a jab. but gets caught with a good flurry of hooks, and Skelton covers up on the ropes, covering up nicely. Clinch again, and Skelton's uppercuts on the inside again. Does the referee sayanything except OK and No. Clinch. Chagaev to the body. Nice left hook then a right from CHagaev,but Skelton puts his head down and digs in some hooks of his own. Skelton ships shots when he's going in now. Chagaev with a decent left hand. Chagaev pushed back and takes a few body shots and an upercut. Huge left hook from Chagaev.

Chagaev again.
95-94

Ruslan again for me and think this is will be a UD for Chagaev, Matt is just walking in and grappling.

10-9 Ruslan once again.

Matts looking to survive . He'll do well to last 12 . Not trying to win anymore . Chagaevs hurting him everytime he lands . Chag wants to end it in style but Skeltons ugly style wont allow that .

Round 11:

Cagey opening again, with Chagaev moving forward but not looking to do much. Skelton needs to finish strong if there's anything left. Nice left hookfrom CHagaev who now has much more time to move. Skelton with a jab and straight right, then a clinch and a few body hooks. CHagaev working to the body. Uppercut from Skelton then a hook to the body. Ref splits them again. Good right hand from Skelton again. Skelton deflects a straight left then digs in a right of his own. Uppercut traded on the inside. Skelton warned again for holding behind the head. Chagaev is finding a decent guard there. Body shot from Skelton. Straight left from CHagaev.

11th I give 10-10 Ruslan never threw a punch for the last minute or so but Matt not landing much either.

Skelton looks knackered, survival mode

Matt gave it his all in the last round but it wasnt enough . Badly hurt from body shots

I have Chagaev a huge winner on the cards . 117-111

Round 12:

Skelton's corner telling him its the best he's ever boxed, and that's too right. Chagaev comes out. Body hooks from Skelton, and then ploughs forward with some decent body hooks. Good right hook then a left from Chagaev. Chagaev with another left. Skelton digging deep and putting in two decent uppercuts. Great right from Skelton, and Chagaev hangs on desperately. Left hook from Chagaev, and Skelton with an uppercut. Chagaev swinging wildly. Left hook from Chagaev. Left hook and an uppercut, then a right to the body from Chagaev. Skelton is done. Brave effort, but he doesn't have it in the tank. And then he puts in a right. Left from Chagaev, but a good right hook from Skelton. Did this guy ever do so rubbish against Sprott? Seems a differnt man. Body shots inside from Skelton. The two men hug. Great fight, scruffy, on the inside, but a brawl.

114-113 Chagaev is my final score.

Ruslan got the last IMO but you cannot fault Skelton well done but Ruslan has surely won this especially with the point reduction.

I'll add my scorecard up in a minute.

Rnd 11 even...Rnd 12 to Chagaev...

Winner should be Chagaev...

Good performance from Skelton, he did himself proud like I thought he would but didn't interfere with me getting a nice 6 point haul in the prediction comp for a Chagaev points win.

Barring a judging travesty, but in Germany that ain't going to happen.

OK, this is how the judges read it. For me, Skelton's point deduction was the difference, but it was close for me. Chagaev gets a hug from his wife, who whispers in his ear "Get off me you sweaty fu**er".

I have no idea what the scores are, but Chagaev's retained his belt, deservedly at the end of it. Skelton was brave, but not quite enough in the tank.

I think the commentator got confused between zwei and sieben. 117-111 was the actual score, instead of waht the commentator had of 112-111.

CC for the RBR Rhun, you guys liked that fight? I thought it was kind of a hold fest for most of the fight, even for a heavyweight fight. Few good spurts by Chagaev but he wasnt impressive. Skelton doesnt do much but hold and hit.
