Juan Manuel Marquez has never been knocked out in his 52-fight professional boxing career. Aside from a disqualification in his first fight 15 years ago, his only losses have been 12-round decisions. So as Marquez prepares to fight Manny Pacquiao on Saturday, why do I find it tempting to place a little wager on Pacquiao beating Marquez in the first round? Probably because I remember how the first round went when these guys fought four years ago:
That was the first round in which Pacquiao famously knocked Marquez down three times, only to get out-boxed the rest of the night and wind up with a draw. But so dominant was Pacquiao in the first three minutes that some referees would have stopped that fight. And if you think Pacquiao is going to have a similarly dominant first round on Saturday night, you could make big money.
The odds at Bodog say that a $100 bet on Pacquiao to win in the first round pays off at $2,200. Trying to predict the exact round that a fight will end isn't easy, but that strikes me as a fairly good bet. Is it likely to happen? No. But is it so unlikely that you wouldn't bet $100 with a chance to profit by more than $2,000? It's at least worth thinking about.

I think JMM will lose by decision. he is no longer fast enough to avoid punches like he used so therefore his fantastic counter punching skills are no longer where there should be. Someone in another post said the fight with PAC took something out of him. I totally disagree. He just got old. He is still good enough to last 12 rounds but to win against a fast fighter you have to be fast yourself. JMM has lost a step. PAC by decision.
You don't have to be incredibly fast to beat a fast fighter, timing beats speed and Marquez was never as fast as Pacquiao's hand speed wise so thats not really the major factor here. But Marquez's timing trumped Pacquiao's speed throughout most of the fight and that will be the key in there rematch. Take Judah vs Tszyu for example Judah was much quicker than Tszyu but Tszyu beat Judah with excellent timing of his shots.Quote:

My vote still goes to Pacman on a UD. It's going to be a fight that will be remembered no doubt about that. IF Pac wins with KO fuken brilliant and IF JMM wins with a UD then my CAJONES to him because at that age it's really impressive who would of thought.
I saw a cut on top of JMM forehead on the pic of the weigh-in. Smells like trouble if PAC opens that little beauty up.

Yeah thats why I think Marquez will win on points and not by K.O cuz hes always been negative . Rocky was there for the taking but he couldnt finish him . The only time Ive seen him open up was vs Barrera and he paid for it seconds later so he wont be doing that again .Quote:

Manny was a one armed fighter when he fought JMM and Morales the first time. He had a left, and that was it. Both JMM and Morales were able to nullify his left, and effectively take him out of the fight. Manny has since learned to throw his right, and you all saw what happened to Morales because of it. On the other hand, JMM has started to trade a lot lately. He's become more aggressive, in an effort to try and gain fans. This opens him up to counters, where before he was the counter puncher. If he carries that new style into his fight with Manny, it's going to be a short night (about a 5th round tko). If he fights like he did in the 1st one, and remains a defensive counter puncher, it should be an interesting fight. Though I tend to lean toward Manny to win by late round stoppage.
I agree, Marquez did give Pacquiao a boxing lesson in their first encounter, but that was because PacMan was fixed on the 1-2 punch. This will be a new fight at a new weight and that might be the difference. Also, Marquez is without doubt a great boxer, but he will choose to go toe to toe at times. Manny is a monster and he doesn't just win fights he devastates his opponents (if they're willing to engage). The only real threat I see for Pac is the fact that he can be too aggressive and he doesn't fight often enough. I just hope this fight is as exciting as we expect it to be, we been waiting a long time for this. I Know I Have.

I think Marquez will be fighting as he did the first time, which was basically to fight from within his shell of defense, countering hard in power combinations everytime pac tried to penetrate his shell. The only problem with Marquez is that he usually doesn't follow up with his 'KO capable shots' even when he's got his opponent cornered, especially when they're top class ones, probably fearing a do-or-die countering from his 'cornered' opponent and getting himself knocked down instead - which could be a wise move or not depending on the situation. But if I were him, I'd take some chances this time 'cause I think it'll be his only chance. IMO, staying in his shell and trying to counter all day won't work this time 'cause I think it'll just be a matter of time when pac will be penetrating his shell of defense - with devastating effect.
I see this fight ending at around 4th round - or at 7th at the most. I think pac will win even in the unlikely situation of the fight lasting full 12 rounds provided that pac is not kd'd anywhere in the fight. The only chance for Marquez IMO is to KO pac or KD him and win the decision.
