Vastly experienced and dirty with it plus Joe has NO experience at Light Heavy at all.
Just think he might have the awkward style to frustrate Cally and grind out a street war.
Just a gut feeling;)
Yours?
In all fairness though BHop has fought one real Light Heavy... Winky is out of his weight in the MW division... Joe's fought a lot of fighters with the strength and size of Light Heavys.

For the record I'm am 100% straight but each to their own ;D
I wonder if Joe's fragile hands will play apart in this fight. Seems like Joe is always either carrying, recovering or picking up an injury on fight night

Re: Hate to say it but..Hopkins might do a number on Calzaghe!!!
I am sure that one of Hopkins strategies is when he has to take punches he will take them high on the head in the hope that Joe will hurt his hands during the contest.

Yeah Hopkins always looks through his eyebrows so Joe will get no clean shot on his chin . His slaps will be landing around the forehead and we know Hopkins has a hard head .
Hopkins though may be able to take Joes punches but I dont think he will throw enough to win . Ofcourse theres a chance he'll just be given teh decision anyway but in terms of deserving victory his punch output is going to have to be pretty close to Joes and theres no way at his age he can do that .

To me it seems that calzaghe can counter, fight at distance, infight/scrap...he was the one who started dictating the pace and fight in the kessler fight. He has shown it many times before.
I think people are underrestimating calzaghe's own ability to dictate the pace and style of fight.
Of course hopkins is fantastic at doing this, BUT if youve watched calzaghe's fights over the years like i have, then you know that calzaghe dictates his fights.
As for 'non straight punching, ive got to say that is the most stupid comments ive ever heard about calzaghe.
Do you know who else didnt use many straight punches, his name was MIKE TYSON.
Sorry guys, he threw many straight punches against kessler and lacy. In his career his always shown good jabs and right crosses, the calzaghe jab is a brilliant jab...i dont know what planet you guys are on.
You cant just look at the manfredo fight, manfredo didnt throw one punch in that fight, he was simply getting hammered by all sorts of punches and just covered up, he couldnt even take his gloves away from his face it was ridiculous.
the issue with calzaghes punches is that he doesnt know how to throw punches
he throws arm punches, and he taps people, which is why people think he is fast
there is a story that calzaghes father knew NOTHING about boxing, and calzaghe wanted to be a figher, so his father went out and got a book about boxing and used it to teach calzaghe how to throw punches, i guess he didnt comprehend what he read cuz calzaghes punching technique is awful

Game I agree with you have some rep.
The reason why Galzaghe punches the way he does is because his hands are fragile and he does not want to have too much impact on them. He also had elbow injuries and he went through a phase where he was boring us with title defences against Starie. The story goes he gave up golf and then battered Omar Sheika and the rest is history.:)

Yea friggin horrible:rolleyes: a World Champion for over 10 years and over 20 defenses and one of this generations best fighters, 1st ballot hall of famer and 2nd best 168lber of all time

He is given alot of stick for the Starie fight . His local paper had it a 1 point win for Joe but I think Starie was an awkward under rated fighter . Joe was meant to impress on the Tyson undercard and it was never gonna happen against Starie who IMO beat Otke and holds a win over Clinton Woods .
He got his form back vs Sheika but fragile hands will always be a problem or he would have laid Manfeddo out instead of throwing flurries . Bika had a hard head too and Joe had a tough night there too . Joes not a bad banger though . He had Eubank down and if it werent for his hands hed be putting these guys away . Training in a rotton shed doesnt help either . He says the extra 6 pounds vs Hopkins will increae his punch power . . . we'll see .

Sorry fella, you havent said whether or not you will agree though that you are WRONG and your boxing knowledge is pretty awful should calzaghe beat hopkins, pavlik and dawson???
If calzaghe comes to america and batters all the american champs then will you admit you dont really know much?
If he doesnt, then i will put my hands up and wont make any excuses...BUT WILL YOU???
Or will you make an excuse for every fighter hes fought?
If calzaghe is such a weak, crap slapper how come he beat lacy, beat kessler, beat eubank, beat mitchell and beat reid???
Ali was a 'slapper' compared to foreman, but ali is the greatest fighter of all time.
What does it make kessler, lacy and eubank? What will it make bhop, pavlik and dawson should he beat them?
What if he batters bhop and totally schools him?
Lets wait n see what happens, who knows, maybe you are correct and joe is a horrible boxer who has no punch.
What you say about him fighting manfredo is a pile of garbage, DONT WATCH THE MANFREDO FIGHT AND RATE JOE ON THAT PATHETIC PERFORMANCE, MANFREDO IS A TOTAL BUM, THAT WAS A JOKE FIGHT!!!
Manfredo went the distance with lacy, he took all of lacy's shots easily...does lacy not hit hard? Sorry lol, before the calzaghe fight wasnt lacy being touted as the ko expert?
Please though mate, IF YOU ARE WRONG will you admit you dont know much about boxing then?

I really hope I'm wrong but I think the fight will not be exciting - it will be facinating though. Joe by decision with both fighters at least warned several times for infringements if not penalised points.
What if age catches up with joe mate?
Joe is 36 now, is there a chance that his stamina and speed might dwindle a bit?
I mean wasnt it around this age where jones was at his peak when he beat ruiz and tarver the first time round...then fought tarver again and got ko'd??? All of a sudden, within 6 months jones was declared as being 'past it' and the excuses rolled in 'ah, its not that spectacular because jones was past it by this time' (despite beating tarver 6 months before and supposedly being in his prime).
So what if calzaghe suddenly becomes 'past it' in the 6 months between fighting kessler and hopkins?
Well, if hopkins wins, i wont start screaming 'but calzaghe was past it', il say that hopkins is a better fighter than calzaghe.'
Garunteed though that if calzaghe wins...the excuse is already lined up...infact its lined up against any of the american champs that calzaghe is poised to face, hopkins/pavlik/dawson etc they will all have their 'excuse' should calzaghe demolish them.
Jones lost 25 pounds in a very short time which messed up his body and made him weak, thats why he looked bad not because of his age.

Calzaghe by a ridiculous desicion.Sorry Hopkins but this will not be your night.

ive seen calzaghe fight many times and dont base what i think about him on one fight, and yes manfredo is a bum, and lacy showed that he is close to a bum by having a competitive fight with manfredo
i think lacy turned out to have ZERO defense and i think if it wasnt for an accidental headbutt lacy would have lost to typsko before getting a belt and we never would have seen the calzaghe fight
i cant imagine calzaghe doing anytthing in this fight, i expect it to be like wright soliman, and unless hopkins turns out to be osteoporosis ridden or something i cannot imagine him losing this fight

Wake up!!! Taylor beat Hopkins on workrate and energy and that was like 3 years ago and Taylor as half the boxing skill of Calzaghe... Hopkins was able to resurge late in those fights because Taylor lacks stamina.. Joe does not
Calzaghe will be all over him like stink on shit for 12 rounds and people will realize that a win over a weight drained suck ass one hit wonder milk dud Tarver, and a 5 division over his natural limit fat ass Winky Wright that the officiating was questionable to begin with, arent impressive wins
So you agree with him that it will be late stoppage? This is crazy talk... Both of you! I am leaning toward Calzaghe winning due to his sheer energy and workrate... But to say he'll be stopped in friggin rediculous. His style and Calzaghes lack of power won't allow it. He's not going to be able to pile up the amount of punches that put Lacy down late. He's to good defensivly. To think this is going to be a masterclass I think is out of the question.
I will be the first to stand up and say I'm wrong but I don't see that happening.
Hey this is my opinion. I understand your point and you explained why which is very logical. I just think that when someone shit talks Joe he brings his A + game and Lacy found that out. Lacy is a more hardcore fighter. Hopkins is more defensively sound but Joe has a way of making people fight his fight. Again.. Hopkins kisses the matt at least once and there Will be a late stoppage. This is the fight that Bernard Hopkins will not have to wonder if he still "has it". He will be beaten handily and Joe will make him pay for the trash talk. Calzaghe works off of a challenge. If you ever noticed Joe if he is not challenged it may be a shitty fight for him. If someone trash talks him he's gonna fight his best. On top of that he wanted Hopkins forever. JOE CALZAGHE STOPS HOPKINS LATE.. Let 'em know where you heard it first.

Re: Hate to say it but..Hopkins might do a number on Calzaghe!!!
IMO....................Calzaghe is more a tactical boxer compared to Hop. Hop is one dimensional and consist of his leaning with the right and droping his head. Cal has alot of weapons and had foot work. it is going to be an interesting match and we will see who wins the bout that night.
IMO.............i would also like to see a "white man" give a woopin to for those who talk too much.

Please just answer the question mate.
IF Calzaghe beats all the american champions in their own back yard, then will you finally rate him as the greatest fighter out there?
IF HE BEATS hopkins, pavlik and the winner of woods/tarver/johnson/dawson...will you admit you are wrong and rate him as p4p number 1?
Or will you make excuses up about every one of those fighters aswell?
Let me guess, hopkins is 'past it', dawson is 'inexperienced and a bum who was overhyped just like lacy' and pavlik is 'a big hitter who was inexperienced and moving up in weight'...am i correct?
Or will you finally rate joe as p4p number 1?
I personally believe he will smack the fuk out of all the u.s fighters as super middle and light heavy.
Oh by the way, what is your excuse for calzaghe beating kessler? Is kessler an 'overated, useless european fighter that couldnt handle being slapped?' or something.
Face it mate, something has to give...if you are wrong and calzaghe smashes up all the us champions, you cant seriously keep this 'hes a slapper, he doesnt know how to punch, he only knows how to swing and brawl, he has no power' attitude up??? Surely not???
So...after this fight, do we have a deal mate? If you are wrong you admit that you dont know anything about calzaghe. If i am wrong then i will put my hands up and apologise and then leave the forum even.
Is that a deal?

:o Exactley how many Hopkins fights have you seen bro.?He does rely on the sniper right hand alot in late career but to say he is one dimensonal is way off.He can be frustrating(just imagine how his opponent feels) but make no mistake,he is a tactical master.

I agreed?
Dont think so. Read again.
Have you ever seen Fenster fight? If not.. it's perfectly understandable why you can't comprehend the magnitude of "shiity" regarding certain southpaws in conjunction with Fenster's undeniable southpaw besting abilty. Fact.
Cretin

Re: Hate to say it but..Hopkins might do a number on Calzaghe!!!
ugly fight, Hopkins will frustrate Calzaghe badly and reduce his output drastically with movement, grappling, ect., but won't do a whole lot and Calzaghe will probably get a close points win just cause he does a bit more.

Your comment sir.
OK I did me homework. Winky, Holmes and Jackson could possibly give Fenster a smidgen of trouble.
So you did your homework and realized they were better than what you said the 1st time yes ?? so you agreed yes ??
If your fighting is anything like how you fight/debate here then you are shitty you Muppet ;D

Because they could give Fenster a "smidgen of trouble" doesn't make them non-shiity to Fenster. Fact.
If you knew the score you'd know the score. Fact.
Plonker

Fenster never changed his opinion at all. If you possessed any understanding of the level of Fenster's boxing ability you would realise the OFFENCE you commited in questioning him.
Now trot along
Donut

Wow.. not only is your guy gonna lose but your gonna look like you don't know anything because of what you say. That's gonna be a bad night all the way around for you.
Not really cus Bernard is gonna win GURANTEED. And I have a life outside this forum so I don't really care.

Re: Hate to say it but..Hopkins might do a number on Calzaghe!!!
I want JC to win but I have a feeling that muay thai master Bernard will win. Add in Enzo C's bad run with Mac getting his ass handed to him by Haye, ditto Rees....Those guys losing their biggest fights, maybe Enzo C was over rated?Or those fighters were? I couldn't believe I was reading Enzo C not giving Haye ANY credit whatsoever, saying he still doesn't rate him etc!!

Joe is an entirely different animal compared to the previous guys you just mentioned... Kinda like saying the few guys Uncle Roger was training lost and that all of a sudden you are worried for Floyd in his next fight...Trainers guide and hone a fighter, its up to the fighter to carry out the instructions, Maccarelli admitted after the fight that he didnt due a thing that they worked on in the gym... all trainers have had rough runs.
Freddy Roach
Buddy Mcgirt
Emmanuel Steward
just to name a few
Joe is a special fighter that has seen it all and experienced it all so its a safe bet to say that he has the mental part of the fight game on lock down;)

By what your saying I'm suprised that Enzo is not being gracious :-\

Re: Hate to say it but..Hopkins might do a number on Calzaghe!!!
IMO.............Hopkins relys on that right which is his only REAL weapon. That is his leading right hand that causes some difficulties for SOME boxers. He comes in and then leans forward to not get counterpunched. UNlike Cal, who shows footwork, has a jab, uses the ring, and has the attributes that a REAL CHAMP shows...it might be a done deal, but the fact is that HOP has a chin as well as CAL, they both have STAMINA and could go all 12.
IMO....i just think that CAL possess a bigger threat if he is smart and uses HOP as a punching bag..(hitting the body)..because CAL is really great in doing so, he might stop HOP. ALso i would love to see a "white man" as HOP calls it, have a tremedous career leaving a legacy UNDEFEATED!!!!!
