Screw Boxing and I mean that from my heart - Holyfield was ROBBED!

Not a good fight to watch, and a deplorable decision.

Im no Holyfield fan, but he was screwed.

This can be such a disgusting sport. Judges need to held accountable for their decisions.

They need to retract and give it to Holyfield, I mean he trained hard for that fight and he is 46 years old, A rematch would be a really bad idea being he would just be that much older and Bigfoot would actually train harder. Holyfield won and he deserved the nod.

I did not see the fight BUT judging boxing can be very subjective. That being said, the judges were from neutral countries, so the only way the fix was in is if the WBA was involved. I Would not be surprised as the governing bodies are a joke, but since the WBA was involved there is no way the decision would be reversed so that is wishful thinking. This is another reason boxing needs to be rescued. Hopefully someone like a John McCain can establish some kind of order. The Ring is the closest thing we have, and I have my doubts about it since it is owned by GBP.....

I think Holyfield may have been screwed out of a win but to say he was screwed out of the Heavyweight Championship is a farce....

a guy that can barely pay his bills is not going to start hiring lawyers to fight this that cost probably alot of money and atleast a yr if it happens

The WBA did fix this fight, They did not want to lose the money that Klitschko Vs Valuev would generate. I hope Holyfield raises some hell to get this reversed and becomes 5 time champion.

It would be great if someone could collect all the opinions together from all the threads on all the boxing sites together, and make sure the WBA knows how pissed off a lot of people are about their inablity to gather 3 judges who are paid to do a job that in this case wasnt all that complicated.

And fights outside of the UK and US should be boycotted. And even they are far from perfect.

Im up to here with, sloppy points decisions.

Yeah but if he's practically shut out one of the champions, is he really that crazy for thinking he can?

At worst they should make Valuev go to USA for the rematch with a pro Holyfield crowd and see how the judges react to that.

Sorry man I like you, but that whole paragraph is about as inaccurate as you can get.. An arguement can be made that Holy pitched a shut out, Valuev didnt land one solid shot on Holy, Evander was on his toes the whole fight had great lateral movement picked off Valuev's jab and slipped just about every punch along with putting on a counter punching clinic..

Its no secret that you are one of the top 2 Holyfield haters around here with frozensolid 702 being#1 so I think your pretty biased on this one..

As far as the headbutt goes, Evander slipped a right and came up under his chin, not to hard to fathom when you are giving up a foot to your opponent

Nope,sorry,I gave the first two rounds to Holyfield,and made a point of watching it with someone else,who saw it exactly as I did.
And trust me,I thought Valuev sucked as well,but he just sucked more effectively
Evander spent to much of the second half of the fight bouncing outside and not doing a thing,and it cost him the fight. Just like Hopkins took too many rounds off against Taylor,and Im sure youd say Im the biggest Hopkins fan on here. And while I think Bernard won that,it wasnt the robbery of the century either.
Same fight almost note for note.
I take an attitude of,it could have gone either way. Again the biggest robbery of the night(other then Valuev and Holyfield stealing money) was the womans bought right before.
And Im no huge fan of Valuev,he should have a tattoo on his chest saying,"Do Not Attempt To Operate Heavy Machinery While Watching Him Fight"
And I dont think it was a crowning achievment for Valuev,if he let Holyfield out of the corner one more time.............
Its was a doggrel fight,and Im praying Valuevs people screw up,and put him in with someone who can convincingly beat him,so I dont have to watch him anymore.
Again though read the whole post,it could have gone either way,and when your fighting the champion,you need to whup his ass. Chageav beat the snot out of Valuev,it wasnt even close. Evander needed to make sure it didnt go to the judges,or be more active,not dancing around on the outside,but landing legit power shots. He didnt do it.
And hate to break it to you again,Evander was a brilliant Cruiserweight. And if he didnt use that hard noggin as often as his fists,a solid HW champ if not a great one. I dont like his lifestyle, but who cares about his lifestyle when the bell rings? Sonny Liston wasnt exactly a choir boy,but he was a great fighter

This is close to the point Ive been trying to drive home,Holyfield didnt do enough to win and Valuev didnt screw up enough to lose.
If I was a major promoter(not a mid realmer like what I am) I wouldnt book either of them at gunpoint.
As a midrealmer,your damned right,Id book a re-match if it was cheap. I wouldnt actually watch my own fight,but Id book it.;D
Id probably just send a surrogate and have them call me to tell me what happened.

i put £150 british pound notes on Holyfield, absolutely disgusted. I never saw the fight but it sounds like the real deal fucked him up and never lost a round. on every report ive seen its apparent that Holy won.Corals im coming for you!!!!

watching this fight really pissed me off. holyfield won it. valuev did nothing. Fixed, felt sorry for holyfield he should have won.

Ok I've just watched this fight to see what all the fuss is about & as usual Germany is again the venue for a dodgy decision. I've also scored it twice. When scoring it neutrally and fairly I had 118-110 in favour of Holyfield, and I can even see how some of you guys are scoring it as a complete shutout. I then re-scored it by heavily favouring Valuev, and giving him rounds based on ANY positive action from him in a round, or basically anything that I believe a judge could argue was worth scoring the round in his favour, and I had it 114-114 on this occasion.

As far as I'm concerned this is a disgusting robbery, and I can see one possible reason for this being Holyfield's safety, and the WBA attempting to make sure that he did not fight again.

Also as a side-note, the few newspaper reports I've read seem to agree with the judges that Valuev won :confused: has anyone else noticed this??

Still it hasn't pissed me off anywhere near as much as Bute-Andrade :mad:

I bet we're going to see a rematch. Not that I want to. Maybe in the U.S.A.

I think its simple. The WBA was never going to let Evander win, because if he did, he would want to unify with the Klitchcos and the WBA doesnt want any liability for that fight cause they never want to be held accountable for anything. Yet they sanctioned Holyfield-Valuev cause they expected an easy win for Valuev to set up a Valuev-Klitchko fight that would not get criticism from the public. Its all BS politics. Evander was never walking away with the title. The WBA is crooked and only interested in protecting their own asses.

This fight was sooo boring, neither guy deserved the win.

I would have joined into the debate yesterday but my internet connection was lost for most of the day. Anyway I said debate their was no debate Holyfield won this fight in my eyes 10 rounds to 2. IT almost seemed he landed every punch he threw with intent landed. The punches didn't look hard as Valeuv walked through them but they still landed. Holyfield stayed on the outside and just bounced and countered effectively from what I seen. Valuev the mediocre bohemoth as I stated in another post was not mediocre he was terrible.Trying to come forward jabbing some landing some missing completley and absolutley no right hands or any other power punch landed. You also have to take into account the Don King is in Valuev's corner so to me a fix would not be out of the question. I watched this fight with my wife, sister-in-law and a buddy of mine and they were in an outrage and got completley silent as I damn near broke my damn T.V. but I didn't only to watch the Giants last night win in OT to take homefield advantage and a first week bye in the playoffs. At least something went right this weekend.

This is what I wrote:

I find allowing the decision to stand to be an absolute mockery of boxing. While the WBA had officials ringside, to allow the fight to be handled in such a way suggests corruption and/or incompetence of a high degree. If one wonders why boxing is dead, all is needed is to look at fights such as this one and the last Lucian Bute fight to realize the failure of a great sport.
