I'm just curious...why did you mention Hamed as well as in 'he would of beaten both Amir Khan, Naseem Hamed'

So it will just be me and CFH sitting in the Khan section then:-\
I want Amir to win this one in style, he's not deserving of all the hate he gets.
He's a well spoken, polite young man who has goals and ambitions and isn't afraid to take a risk to try and achieve those goals.
Shame on ICB for wanting to see him smashed as he represents someone with the same mindset as you.
He doesn't drink, he doesn't believe in sleeping around with lots of random women, his family is everything to him and he has a dream to be a world champ just like you have a dream to make the 2012 Olympics.
What exactly is it about him that makes you want to see him get smashed?
I'm in Khan's corner too Bilbo
just got back from gym and by the sounds of it theres gonna be mexico flags hanging out of most house windows, haha us brits love getting behing our prospects dont we !! haha
Well i certainly wouldn't run someone over then leave em there, he made that guys life a misery he was fucked for life so i heard. And its not only that i just don't like him he's an arrogant moron. And his claim of having 2 percent body fat, aswell as being able to beat Floyd Mayweather is just laughable. He's nothing like me at all he may have the same goals, but i would never make such foolish claims.
I swear this Khan's career has been mismanaged heavily. First of all, they stuck him in there with a pure puncher like Prescott and now they are sticking him in with a legend like Barrera? Are they trying to end his career early? I give him a good shot in the fight but it doesn't make sense to me. Why is there such a rush to push him into huge fights?
Bilbo I'm with ya. If it stops Barrera's 4 weight world title train I'm game. I'm still pissed Morales didn't get that recognition, and I've always found Barrera a bit of an arrogant prick at times. I actually think this is a superb fight, but I go for Khan to stop him...and I know I'm in the minority, and I can't believe I'm saying that since I was at the fucking Prescott fight.
Barrera mops the floor with Khan.
I've always thought Barrera wasn't as "shot" as people kept saying. He has a lot left in the tank to put on a good show against Khan. I think it's a winnable fight for both. If Khan uses his height, speed, and distance I can see him taking the fight but if Barrera can use his heart, land some good shots, I can see him taking Khan out of there.
Khan cannot afford to lose this fight. Having two loses in a shot time period may take him off the face of the boxing world.
Cotto/Margarito was a toss up fight so that's the closest point to your argument.
Pavlik destroying Hopkins and De La Hoya bullying Pacqiuao wasn't only greatly predicted by this forum, the whole boxing world thought the same thing. So if this forum was wrong in those fights, everyone else was wrong with us, that's why both fight's results were listed as upsets...

Barrera looked abit soft in his last fight in China and entered the ring as a light welterweight. To be fair his muscle tone didnt look good vs Pac or Marquez either , he had abit of a worn out look about him.
When you consider Barrera made his debut in 1989 at a much lower weight and now two decades on he is fighting a young a very large olympic silver medallist at lightweight, then its fair to assume that the odds are stacked against him in that respect. He only went through the motions in his last fight so it is hard to tell what he has left.
Im almost certain that Barrera carries the power to stop Amir . Alot of people doubt he has this natural strength and punch power moving up to lightweight but Khan has been floored by limond and Gomez so a quick, correct and accurate puncher like Barrera can defo floor him. Pacs speed and size though will cause him problems . I can see Marco getting flustered and maybe abit overwhelmed by the younger bigger fresher man particulary if it goes late. If khan gets carried away though and stays in punching range Barrera will certainly test his defence.
Over all a good fight for both men to take. Warren may know something we dont about what Barrera has left cuz this appears like a tough fight . From what I can see it all comes down to class. Khan has the timing right and if he is ever gonna beat Marco its now but the classier skills of the Mexican make him a favourite in my book.

Well this is set for March so is it a Prescott all over again or is it them taking him on at right time.
Sorry not read all the thread as currently in Philadelphia on holiday. Got a text from Taansend this morning telling me about this. Was stunned at first but the more you think about it the more it makes sense !
Win and he's right back in the mix at the top - lose heavily however and it's a career ender I reckon. AND they can now sell this on box office !
Not sure how much MAB has left in the tank so at moment it's a pick 'em for me. MAB is not a one punch KO man so it may be that Khan has a chance if he gets past 6th.
Anyway - looking forward to it !
Any ticket news please PM me as may not get a chance to check net again for few days.;)cheers
when i first saw the heading that khan was to face barrera on the bbc website i thought maybe sparring or something, but i was shoked to say the least this is what us fans want! barrera is a legend & i see him beating khan but if that happens so what, khan will of faced one of the greats & push on for more mega fights!
really hope its at the MEN arena
Hamed ran the fella over and tried to do a runner not Khan. As for the Mayweatehr thing Im sure he said that he fancied his chances in a four rounder. No idea what the body fat commecnt was. You of all people should understand a young man saying things and claiming things that arent actually true.
Im certainly backing Khan. I want him to progress and achieve something in this sport. even if that wasnt the case he's an Englishman taking on a foreigner, thats all it takes to get my backing. Thats the way it should be for everyone as far as Im concerned.
Shut it you or I'll put you over my knee ;D
I suspect he was suggesting it was a colour/race thing why you didn't like them.
This also relates back to Memphis's post about being English. Nothing against Khan but overhearing and seeing how some of his fans act (similar to Naz) they do see it as a race thing.
I don't want to go off topic with this.
To be fair, I do think that Khan does get a fair bit of stick for his race. I don't think that's how ICB meant it, but seeing a big number of comments on mainstream websites, I think there was a certain backlash against Khan because of his race/religion. I saw a much higher number of comments about cornershops & how 'indians' weren't genetically suited for sport, which is frankly bollocks.
Anyway I know that in the case where Khan hit the bloke, he did actually stop & didn't drive off, but yeah the guy did become depressed because he couldn't work again or something.
I also know what people mean about Khan being arrogant in a way, because he does come out with shit hypin himself unneccessarily. However, when ever I've seen him not talking about boxing he does seem like a really safe guy so don't know which way to lean, and the crap he got after the Prescott defeat just made me root for him harder. The reality is that he also offers the sport a young, future star.
On the other hand MAB is one of my favourite boxers, but I'm not really sure how much he has got left, & I would rather he lost to Khan & retired than beat Khan & then lost a world title shot. So as of yet I'm still undecided
As a side-note I thought the British media really underestimated just how good MAB was, saying only he had a good record. The guy has been in with some of the best boxers of the past decade!
Right Naz, what shall I do?
Stop driving so fast!
I meant the fight?
Oh right, fuck knows???
Amir never did a hit and run, he stopped and called for an ambulance. Plus he was cleared of dangerous driving, although banned for 6 months for careless driving I believe, regardless it's not something I'd condemn him for, all young teenagers speed sadly, except for you I imagine, I'm sure you stick to the speed limits.
As for his boasts about being a world champion how is that arrogant? You've said repeatedly on here that you intend to make it to the Olympics in 2012, so how is it arrogant for an Olympic Silver Medallist to belive he can go on to be a world champ, but it's not arrogant for a lad on a forum who has been boxing for a year to say he's going to make the 2012 Olympic team?
Not having a go at you Ice, I admire your own determination, just really don't see why you dislike Amir who has been great for British boxing.
Im with khan, exciting fighter with suspect chin who can ko or get Ko'd.. Barrera had his time..
Barrera couldnt hang with Pac last year, looked slow and ugly, I think Khan will win this
Would you suggest that Khan is anywhere nearly as good as Manny though? Or remotely as good as JMM? Or that Barrera could be stopped in 1 by a complete nobody as Khan himself was?
On that note your pick is not entirely logical. No offence, JT, but Barrera beats Khan because Khan is simply not good enough.
Were talking about a fighter that is quick and fast and good power.. Barrera is way past his best at this point... If were talking about the Barrera of a few years ago, I give Kahn no chance... Khan has tremendous upside I mean Juarez is nothing special and fought to arguably a draw against Marco almost 3 years ago.
I just think its going to be a case of youth and athleticism lasting over age and deterioation
Barrera won the first fight by enough in my reckoning and then boxed his ass off in the rematch. The second fight was a fight won with a jab because he wanted to show it was all he needed! Khan certainly doesnt have the chin of Juarez. And beyond that you have a fight in which Barrera gave Marquez a serious run for his money and then gave a lame showing against the best fighter in the world. And suddenly Amir kahn is going to cause an upset?
You have your opinion, but I will go against it in this case. I think Barrera is stil too good for Khan.
