Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
Still waiting for Haye to actually face a live body at Heavyweight. How much can you gauge from a used up Barret. And he was a bit blotchy there I believe.
Arreola is a tubby live by the punch, die by the punch sort living fight to fight.Willing to take two to land one and not one to pizz on your leg and tell you its raining. And hes totally at ease with that.I think that calm but focused demeanor and sence of what he is gives him a big mental advantage.I just dont think Haye has the physical make up to come in on Chris and deal with what he'll be hit with.Haye seems to be wound waaay to tight and up to this point,he's done more fighting with his mouth vs. the Heavys than his fist.I think Arreola knocks him out in a mutual train wreck of a good scrap. This ain't no body building contest.
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
I don't see Haye-Arreola happening. Arreola's handlers are going to hold for the big payday against Wlad. They're not going to risk missing out on that payday by going up against Haye.
I'd like to see Haye-Arreola, but I just don't think it's in the cards for now.
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
Kirkland...at least Walker and Arreola are "domestic level fighters" AT HEAVYWEIGHT which is more than David Haye can say.
Also Cris Arreola gets mentioned for title fights because #1 He's undefeated and #2 He's fought his way up the rankings.....two things David Haye wouldn't know much about
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
I don't understand what makes Haye seem invincible? What are Haye's positives besides of course his tee-shirt making ability?
His most exciting wins were over a worn out Jean Marc Mormeck who had previously gone life and death with O'Neil Bell and Enzo Mac who was probably the most overhyped fighter ever in the cruiserweight division. And Mormeck put Haye down! If Mormeck can do it, how about a strong heavyweight?
Haye is also notable for having a rough time with 36 year old 5'9 1/2 Fragomeni (not a bad fighter but horribly outsized and much older) and being knocked out by Carl Thompson.

Uhmm. Who has David Haye fought at heavyweight better than Travis Walker?
Do you honestly think Walker is anything more than a domestic level heavy? He's not even the best NABF-level American, Areolae is. Haye beats either guy like a gong.
I'll favor Walker over Gaye

Projection is somebody having his ass tatted with a fighters picture. Taking that fighters name as his username. And telling everybody that he knows that fighter and that he comes over and drinks tea with him. Ain't that right "Kirkland". LOL

Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
I like Arreola as a fighter and I like Haye also both are about the only exciting heavyweights around at the moment IMO -apart from Tyson Fury (seriously) and he is at least 2 years away from being ready for world level opposition. I'm not sure that I would like to call a fight between haye and Arreola though as IMO Haye's chin is suspect but his punch is big and Arreola's chin is strong but his punch is suspect. I watched Arreola's fight against Damian Willis again the other day and I was shocked by how many punches Arreola hit Willis with in the second round without hurting him - He has fast hands, I just don't thing that he is a hard hitting heavy. Then again, if you have fast hands do you need to be a hard-hitting heavy vs David Haye?
If I had to call, I'd say that Haye would edge it but i would not be surprised either way tbh.

Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
How is it that a Cw weight champion who stuggled and even lost in his division going to clean of the Heavyweight division i just do get it. Say what you want about Wlad but the heayweight division is stronger then the CW yet again not saying to much because CW is a hand me down.
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
It's a British Delusion of Grandure....they want to be in on the "ground floor" so to speak for the next British Heavyweight champion, I do recall they had that chance with Lennox Lewis but since he beat poor Frank Bruno the hero of Britan, the fans only begrudeonly accepted him until he became THE Champ and then of course the flag of England blew with the Lennox Lewis breeze.
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
David Haye was successful at CW because he is an incredible athlete and at the time he unified the division, he was up against weak or old competition. Mormeck in his prime would have battered Haye. Enzo was overhyped and his last loss proved who he is.
Haye has speed and he has at least some power in both hands, at least at CW. That's really about it. The Bonin and Barrett fights show us nothing about his punching power at HW. Bonin sucks and Barrett is the same size as him and washed up. Talk about 'domestic level' talent? What the heck are Bonin, Barrett, and Enzo? The only "world class" guy Haye ever beat was a washed up Mormeck. To borrow from Fenster - Fact.
There is no evidence to suggest he can bang with the big boys. Comparing him to the smaller HW's, He doesn't have much skill or defense like Eddie Chambers, and he doesn't have the workrate and conditioning of Povetkin. Against a fighter with a top level jab (like Wlad), he will have no way to reach him. He doesn't use his jab to set anything up. He either attacks blindly or waits for the other guy to make a mistake. If he were a baseball player, I'd call him a mistake hitter. If the pitcher makes his pitch, he can't do anything, but he can crush a hanging curve ball. The most of the guys he's been in with hang plenty of curve balls for him.
Arreola has been fighting legit HW's his entire career. Yes, he has turned up disgracefully fat in a few fights. He's also turned up in decent shape for his biggest step ups, aside from McCline. I suspect he may have left some weight on for the McCline fight because McCline is so big. Arreola crushed McCline. Granted, he was shot, but he was no more shot than Barrett, AND he is bigger and better than money Barrett was on his best day.
Cristobal has his weaknesses, too, and I'm not claiming that he is the dominant HW, but it is very naive to think Haye would not have his hands full with Arreola. Maybe Haye wins this fight, but this would be VERY dangerous fight for him. If I were Arreola, I would jump at the chance to fight David Haye. If he trained properly can came in under 240, he would blast out Haye in pretty short order. If he came in fat, Haye would have a chance.
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
That is a very solid, unbiased view of David Haye Rozzy.
I think a veteran fighter would be more difficult for Haye because of the flaws in his games you have mentioned. I think if James Toney had anything left he'd be very difficult for Haye to beat. Good defense, good jabs, and good chins are all going to be big roadblocks for Haye at heavyweight.

So you're saying Haye's chances against The Nightmare depend on if he has a "B-cup" or "C-cup". ;D
I agree with most of what you are saying, the one thing I disagree with is Arreola being in a position to blow out Haye. Arreola tends to take shots to give some back, that could be a fatal flaw against Haye, plus Haye does have relatively quick hands. I'd back Arreola, but this fight needs to happen fireworks for 1-3 rounds before it ends brutally either way.
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
Of course WE say this should happen but it's just not going to....why? Both Arreola and Haye are going to be protected because of what is at stake. I do think Arreola will fight better opposition though if he fought Oleg Maskaev, Andrew Golota, Sam Peter, or someone like that he would be in pretty safe and it would still mean something.

But I'm not wrong about the bottler Klitschko. :)

Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
I would love to see this fight, it would be a war and it potentially could do great things for the HW division. Whoever came out on top would be riding a wave of hype into a Klitschko fight.
I have no idea who would win, both are flawed fighters with serious power.

Why don't you try explaining how Obama's economic policies have helped the US?

He is a bottler. He bottled a real challenge from Haye and is now fighting a disease-ridden midget in front of by far the biggest crowd he's ever "fought" in front of, people who paid to see a real fight but now have to make do with yet another garbage Klitscko fight.
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
When did you sign up to fight Wladimir?
-
Re: Haye v Arreola anybody?
.
Ive never bought into the Haye hype but he should, theoretically, be able to pot shot his way to a wide decision win or late stoppage.
HOWEVER..
At any minute of any round, Arreola can knock him the F out with that beastly power of his.
On a side note, Arreola is possibly the ugliest f'n boxer Ive ever laid eyes on. And as far as David Haye goes.... good god almighty, where did all these fans come from?? Lol, my god you'd think he was the second coming of christ. And why?? Because his fans despise the Klitschkos? Because he blasted Monte 'Half a gun' Barrett? Dont you side with fighers because of what they accomplish rather than siding with them to change the current landscape?
Mark my words friends and neightbors, Haye will get the bejeezus knocked out of him by either Klitschko, and a whole host of other heavies, natural heavies, with natural heavyweight power and natural heavyweight chins.
And as far as Ruslan being a 'diseased ridden midget', youre talking about a guy who handed Nikolai his first loss, is undefeated, and was hailed 'the white tyson' not too far back. Granted his punching power is overrated, but Chagaev is no tomato can.

Agreed. Chagaev is by no means a tomato can. He deserved the Klitschko fight more than Haye. This fight is for the Ring Magazine Championship - the fight with Haye wasn't. And Klitschko didn't bottle it. Haye backed out! Let's just hope it isn't an Ibragimov repeat. I don't think it will be, but you never know.
