Great performance by Khan, doubtless the critics will still rain on him but he's going to be a star.
He'l beat Marquez in a year's time, although they still won't give him credit because he will be too small, too old and coming off a loss to Floyd Mayweather.
I think Khan showed what would have happened to Barrera had the cut not occured.
Dominating win for Amir, he's improved leaps and bounds since joining up with Freddie Roach.
These commentators are worse than Teddy Atlass; you'd think he beat Floyd Mayweather by ko. Khan did it though so good on him.
;D
I'll just have to wait for the next fight . I knew how this 1 was gonna go and it went EXACTLY how I thought it would. Lets see if he fights someone better next time but we now know that Khan has zero power and he is scared to get hit. If all his fights are like that he wont be an attraction for long.
Look at the top four in this weight division and tell me what they would do to Khan.
Kotelnik was the worst world champion out there. That reign is now taken by Amir Khan.
That's the route he has chosen and he's made a fair bit of money from it. Fair play to the lad, but anyone who has a little bit of boxing knowledge will be able to see through it.
£15 is just too sick for words. ;D
Bilbo, it was far from a dominating win.
I like Khan partially cause everyone hates him but he hit Kotelnik's gloves all night, the good shots of the fight were mostly landed by Kotelnik.
I didn't see anything wrong with his post fight interview, seemed humble and respectful.

Well im not a Amir Khan fan as you know, and to be honest i wasn't in awe with the performance like the commentators were. And some of the comments from the commentator's were ridiculous.
They were actually trying to insinuate that Amir Khan's chin has got better ? how in the world does your chin improve ? sure you can do neck exercises, but a weak chin is a weak chin. And nothing can change that.
I do think however it was a solid performance, Amir Khan kept his composure. He also had decent stamina, and a better defense. And i liked the way he would put his man in check when Andriy Kotelnik would try and take over.
Overall he has improved and i think his boxing brain, has improved quite alot which is the most impressive thing to me. I do think Andriy Kotelnik fought bravely in the later rounds, and i had it 9-3 or 8-4 for Amir Khan.
I thought Andriy Kotelnik come on well in the later rounds, which i expected him to do. I still think if Amir Khan come's up against a puncher he will be in trouble though, remember Andriy Kotelnik isn't a big puncher. And he was able to land quite well in the later rounds, and in my head im just wondering if he was in with a harder puncher, would he had survived ?
I don't think so but overall a solid performance from Amir Khan, over a solid opponent. But im still nowhere near sold on Amir Khan, but for now let him enjoy his moment and im happy for him he won a world title.
Well done Amir, you done england proud mate. :)
Thought he put in a very good performance, sure he didn't land any dazzling punches or show any power but he did what he had to do, and he dominated the fight. He also took 2 or 3 decent shots so now maybe we as a community can consider highering the profile of his jaw from 'glass' to 'weak'.
Well you've changed your tone. What happened to Khan getting brutally KO'd and embarresed. Nice way to retrace your steps and change your story.
I expect alot of people to be making up various excuses now that Khan is the winner, but who gives a fuck, he's proven his critics wrong for now.
Who's next for Khan?
I was watching something different to the commentrey. Watched a guy Hitting Gloves all night
I think Khan is ready for Mayweather, Marquez and maybe Cotto etc in 2010. This kid has shown huge huge improvement in his ring smartness and is ready for the big boys. Lol Kotelnic got owned, cant wait for the escuses. What Kotelnic had a broken ear and couldnt hear Khan coming??
Maybe someone should just check up on a couple of the haterz, i feel a heart attack coming!!
Gavin Reece!!!!!!!
me too!!!!!
no he won't, JMM won't fight in Manchester.
which of those is not true? He is older and smaller.Quote:
although they still won't give him credit because he will be too small, too old
likely but that hasn't stopped people pushing for Khan to fight Hatton was really looked ready for a coffin.Quote:
and coming off a loss to Floyd Mayweather.
Unproven except to say Khan was the only one hurt (by a punch) in that fight.Quote:

Bilbo you must be off your rocker seriously, i think Amir Khan done well over a solid opponent. But come off it JMM has shown power, and has one of the most intelligent boxing brains i've seen of this era. And he is also a master counter puncher which is a big no/no for Amir Khan.
Lets not get crazy here, yes Andriy Kotelnik is a decent opponent. But he is slow and he has no power. And to say Amir Khan would beat a fighter like JMM is crazy talk.
This is the first real decent opponent Amir Khan has ever fought, except for Breidis Prescott who himself got beat by some fighter. I've never heard of, lets wait and see when Amir Khan fights a top 10 fighter who has some power. Before you start calling Amir Khan a god.
120-108 118-110 118-110 is pretty dominating in my book.
I actually thought Kotelnik might have nicked 3 rounds but Khan was in control from the first bell.
Leaving Pacquaio out of the equation Khan might just be the best in this division. I'd certainly fancy him to outpoint Urgango, the WBC is vacant and Tim Bradley holds the other.
Bradley is decent but to say he's different class to Khan is just wrong imo.
Khan could unify this division imo.

I agree the commnetary was terrible/biased. I do think Amir Khan hit alot of arms/gloves. But Andriy Kotelnik is no mug either, he's a solid opponent with a decent boxing brain. I didn't think he would get caught with much silly punches. Overall a decent win for Amir Khan, but i'd still like to see how he deals with a top 10 fighter who can punch. He's only ever fought one puncher, and look what happened there.

So were quoting horrible scoring now as a means of saying it was a dominate win? ;D 118-110 is questionable, 120-108 is just phoning it in.
It was 8-4 probably, could be 9-3 or 7-5 at either extreme.
140 is a bit of a wasteland, but there are prospects out there that Khan would have to worry about.
I'd like to see Khan against Bradley next. If I was Frank I wouldn't throw Khan right into the deep end and put him up against anyone in the top 10 p4p.
Bradley or Urango. Maybe even Maidana.
As for scores, I had it 117-111 for Khan.
The irony is if that was John Murray who had done that you'd all be raving and saying he'd kill Amir Khan.
In his last 3 fights since the Prescott disaster he has not just won he has completely outclassed his opponents.
Of the current lot at 140 there is nobody to be afraid of at all in my opinion.
I think he can beat Urango, Malignaggi and even Tim Bradley, Bradley none of them being big punchers either. Urango is tough but far too slow imo.
If he fights Marquez a year from now he beats him, as I've said many times before. But by then you lot will have written Marquez off so the win won't mean anything.
I think he has a good chance against margarito or shane, would be interesting.
haha yea that is it Scrap. He did outpoint his opponent on sheer speed and volume even if most were on the gloves. And certainly won this fight. But he is in for a world of trouble when he meets a smart, hard hitting fighter.
Roach knows how to prepare his fighters, and even more impressively to me, gets them to follow the game plan. That sorta thing, I believe will get you only so far, then it comes down to what u got.
Khan won this fight. He deserves the win. Roach, again my hats off to him. Khan doesn't have what it takes to be a great. Either in the brain dept., or that meanness, crazy thing that got other to the higher pinnacles of the sport. Which is a shame, cuz that speed and movement he has is rare.
But yea, well done tonight.
From where I was sitting, Khan was hitting through the glove on enough occasions, usually in his 3rd or 4th punch of his combo. I just think he didn't want to be as wild as he used to be as his confidence has taken a beating since the loss, no thanks to the public. I think in his next few fights he'll come out a little more aggressive..
We've seen plenty of fighters win fights by hitting the gloves all night, and I never see them get stick for it. What a suprise though, Khan is.
PS: WTF is going on with these database errors.
I think i was pretty fair with my assetment, im not big on John Murray either. I think he's an exciting/solid fighter. But he's nowhere near world class.
Well the 1st opponent he fought after the Breidis Prescott fight, was a complete bum who fought Kid Thunder or whoever. If he can't dominate him he should be a postman.
The MAB fight well you know my views on that, MAB was undersized. He had looked terrible in past warm up fights. And was clearly past his prime, MAB was also headbutted and the fight should of been a no contest.
I don't really count that im sorry but i don't, thats just an old legend who's ready for the taking. But he got off to a terrible start, based on a headbutt and could never get in the fight. And was fighting with one eye.
You know my views on the Andriy Kotelnik fight, because there on this page. But again i don't see how that fight proves he's ready for the likes of JMM. Let alone beating him which is crazy talk. But if he somehow beat him, i would give him credit why wouldn't i ? its not the same as the MAB fight.
But lets get one thing straight here, this is the first real solid opponent he has beaten i don't count MAB. Yes lets give him credit, which he deserves. But lets also not get silly here like your doing, because your a big Amir Khan fan.
I think there's plenty of 140 pounder's who could test him.
Devon Alexander
Junior Witter
Marcos Rene Maidana
Timothy Bradley
Kendall Holt
Ricardo Torres
Lamont Peterson
Mike Alvrado
Randall Bailey
Any of these fights i would be fine with.
Wow...no wonder a guy cannot get logged in.Look at all of these Khan groupies ;D
alright didn't see it but well done.Sounded like a wide dec.
