Should Bernard Hopkins (currently #1) be demoted? He has not fought in over a year. His next fight is set for December but it will have been almost 14 months since his last fight.
With the upcoming Dawson/ Johnson rematch almost upon us I think we should demote Hopkins a place to open the way for our championship to be filled.

He needs to stay where he's at. Demoting Hopkins just to fill a championship pretty much makes the winner of Dawson/Johnson a paper champion. He's only the champion cuz a better fighter than him was demoted. If that's the case why not just do that in every division.

I'll give Dawson credit for the first Tarver fight. But not the 2nd. It was a complete waste of time. As for Johnson? He's been active. But his opponents were the below mediocre Daniel Judah and fellow senior citizen Aaron Norwood. How much credit does he really deserve for that? Hopkins next opponent is better than both of them.Quote:

Norwood wasn't much but Judah was at least on par with Ornelas who struggled with the very limited Rubio. Plus the Dawson rematch will be Johnsons 3rd fight since last November, while Hopkins hasn't fought once in that time. Plus the fight before those 2 he arguably won!
All this while Hopkins has sat on the sidelines, I agree he's an excellent fighter but you have to fight to retain your ranking...

I voted for two spots, because I felt Dawson clearly was landing the cleaner punches for most of the rounds.
I voted 3 spots for a very un-inspired performance.
2 spots, he didn't pull out a very solid performance in a long time but hasn't been lousy enough to drop 3 spots either.
Dawson/ Johnson was voted as being for our championship by a vote of 4 - 1... Chad Dawson becomes our champ with his victory!
The vote was drawn at 2 - 2 - 1. As the manager didn't vote the lesser amount of 2 spots will stand. Johnson who advanced to 2nd when Dawson ascended to the championship position will fall 2 places to 4th

Close decision loss fighting against a guy ranked above him's home turf. I say he holds his position. There might be an immediate rematch anyway as Sauerland thought it was a good fight.
Very tight fight, if Afolabi would have put a tad more effort in the early goings he would have nipped it. I say keep him where he is.
