In terms of viewability, this fight should be better than a Mayweather v. Pacquiao fight. I don't think Pac wins this one. But even if he does, Pac ain't beating Mayweather.
Does Pac move to Ring #1 welterweight if he beats Cotto? I guess #2 because Shane should be #1, right?

Agree on both points

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I am going with Pac, I am not a diehard fan of each so whoever wins is fine by me as long as its a good fight. That being said...I thought Cotto looked not so good against Clottey, I thought Cotto did win the fight, but only cause Clottey gave up and decided he should give Broadway a shot mid fight, then again Cotto did have a very nasty cut which he fought through in which he gets full credit for not giving up. I don't think he will knockdown Cotto, I mean if Margarito couldn't lay him out, a large welterweight with plaster, I find it hard to believe Manny will.
My original feelings were for Pac TKO victory due to cuts. I don't think that cut has had long enough to heal. Pac will slice and dice his face all night. I am sticking with my gut, but again I don't care who wins.
If Cotto can work his jab I think it is going to be a long night for Pac...but I don't think it will happen. BEYOND FACT OR FICTION (you decide)

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
i dont know where to begin. i'm seriously shakin while typing and ponderin on what a supreme match-up this will be. i've been trying to figure out both scenarios for the two but this is just mind bogglin.
Here it goes....
Hands down Cotto gets the W. I love Pac but as much i love to see this guy does wut he does, he will get the L. I pray and hope i'm wrong because Pac is just one of those boxers that excites the minds out of everyone. what he's accomplished in his lifetime is astounding. 30 yrs of age and in his prime...WOW!!!! After Cottos lost to Marga i knew he was damaged goods. Mere fact that the punishment he took was not normal. Then the Clottey fight. He looked decent but was getting hit with some good shots from him and i know that the cut bothered him and presevered. IMO he lost the fight. It was in MSG his home town, had the fight been somewhere else he would have lost. See here's the thing....Cotto is gonna show that it takes awhile to really get a chance to show what he really is made of and that is Saturday night. Cotto is the bigger fighter and because of that and his eagerness to prove to himself not to others but to himself that he is the CHAMPION thats exactly what he is going to show. Body shots are gonna wear Pac and a body shot is gonna drop him come the 9th round. That is my take...IMO.....PEACE!!!

Pac KO's Cotto late in a thrilling fight

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I think Pac's uppercut is going to be a key to this fight. Cotto has shown how vulnerable he is those punches, especially in the Judah fight which admittedly took place a long time ago.

Hey guys, been gone for a while. Stationed in Japan right now so makes it kind of hard to get online since i am in the middle of nowhere over here. you know me though, had to come back just in time to support my man Cotto. Cotto late rounds TKO.

past jennings and clottey, tell me as well, what's cotto's state now?
Well I think there are a lot of things to consider when you look at what Cotto was doing before the Margarito fight, he had been with his trainer Evangilista Cotto forever, he was undefeated, and we all know that 1st losses can be devistating to a fighter.
Since then Cotto fought Jennings who was a confidence builder for Miguel and Clottey was a very tough fight for him, but those guys are nothing like Pacquiao and those guys weren't dangerous. Cotto has been buzzed before, he's been dropped before, and he's been beaten up quite a bit, and in the Clottey fight he had to deal with a really bad cut, but he always fought back and that's the part I am hoping remains unchanged.
As I said before, if Pacquiao was to KO Miguel Cotto it would be more impressive than anything Floyd Mayweather Jr has done at 147.
I think Miguel is big, he's still roughly in his prime (I mean, if Cotto gets KO'd I think that puts him out of his prime, although it doesn't change what a big accomplishment it would be for Pacquiao) and Miguel is tough, Margarito maybe even with loaded gloves(we all figure he had them loaded) had to beat him up for 11 rounds to finally stop him!! I think Miguel Cotto is fresh enough, big enough, and powerful enough to whup Pacquiao and if Pac wins I offer no excuses for Cotto, this is like Hagler-Hearns!

posters like you are rare nowadays. i hope most of the guys after the fight will see through your point. i agree with you that even if they say cotto was tko'ed by margacheato, that does'nt take away the fact that he's the bigger guy and if pac wins against him all credit is due for the smaller guy. i mean pac went all the way from 105 to get to this weight class to face a very durable, skilled, stronger and younger opponent. it really pisses me off that some posters here would make an early assessment that the pac team "cherry picked" cotto because he's already damaged goods from cheato, actually preparing for an alibi if ever cotto loses. this are real haters who wouldn't admit they are and would try to deny it. win or lose pac is good for boxing, weather they like it or not. nobody has tread history the way pac did it right now, gunning for his 7th belt in diff. divisions! that alone makes me salute him. so is cotto, if ever he wins, will get my respect and much admiration. i like him even before, he's humble like pac and i will support him too for his next bouts in the future, win or lose.

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Well there's one thing im certain of,is that i cant see this going 12 rounds.Cotto will be the bigger boxer thats a fact, but i see Manny being more active and Cotto covering up alot,as he'll have too!Cotto will have the greatest chance on Manny if he can cut off the ring and coner Manny. The bookmakers have Manny as favourite but only just. Its obvious to say that for both fighters,it'll be their hardest opponants to date.
Im 52/48 on Manny.Im having a bet at the Bookmakers later.I just having a round knock out bet,but im not too sure what round to go for.Im thinking 6 and beyond and edging for manny. Its a really tight as a ducks arse kind of fight. Both fighters being in they prime and being soo heavy handed too, hard to call.Cant fooking wait for this cracker.

If Pac was to beat Cotto in any manner, it is more impressive than anything Floyd has done at welterweight. Gatti, Baldomir, Hatton at 147, Marquez at 147, and Mitchell, don't compare with Cotto at welterweight.
I agree entirely on your last sentence.

Why don't you think this fight is going the distance? Cotto went the distance with Clottey while working through a bad cut.

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Does anyone know if the Korobov fight is being televised? It's on the undercard.
-
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Hope Cotto fights vs Pac the way he did vs Margarito. Sure sure sure, Cotto lost badly against Margarito (cheat or not) but I thought he showed decent speed, combinations, accuracy, countering, footwork, decent power, etc....except defense:-\. Margarito walked through Cotto's punches with ease and not even bending one knee. I wonder if Pac can do the same.
I liked Cotto's performance vs Margarito better than his fight with Clottey.

It is not part of the televised PPV card, however, a lot of the cable and satellite providers are showing the untelevised fights for free. So check your OnDemand, and PPV channels to see if they are.
You can also check on Yahoo, a lot of times the show them online.

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I have seen the future in my dreams last night.
I saw Cotto crippling Manny with a mean body shot in round 5, leaving Manny unable to continue and riving in pain on the canvas. ;)
Mark my words.
-
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
The closer I get to the fight, the more I favor Manny's speed. I don't think Cotto finishes his combinations in a defensive posture and PAC is going to use his speed to exploit that. I picture the first few rounds close and then a wide decision/late stoppage for Pacquiao.
I really think once PAC gets his rhythm dialed in it's going to be very one-sided.
-
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
-
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I think team pac will use the DLH fight strategy. Like Oscar, Cotto is a natural lefty in conventional stance. I expect Pac to spin Cotto around and pop shot him all night till Cotto's eyebrows bleed and go for the kill.
Pac TKO at 8.

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
This is my first post and I'm not sure if I would be welcome here. Anyway here it is.
I think this will boil down to who has the better preparation/training and having the most feasible strategy/gameplan.
Pacquiao might be a little distracted with his extra curricular activities during training but he seems to handle things like this very well. I think PAC has the better sparring sessions working with bigger and powerful sparring partners. Cotto prepared for this fight in a longer duration (12 weeks) but it seems he doesn't have the best possible sparring sessions. He's sparring with smaller men (jr. welters) maybe thinking that PAC is a "smaller" opponent.
I think strategy and gameplan also favors Pacquiao. With a veteran coach/trainer on his side, PAC enjoys the advantage of having an excellent strategy/gameplan going to the fight. PAC is a 54 fights veteran and a 16 years pro. He has seen it all already while Cotto is a 35 fights veteran and 8 years pro. Cotto's trainer, Joe Santiago might be on his side for already a long time but he still lacks the experience of calling the shots on his own. Cotto will mostly do what he wants to do and not depend on his present trainer/corner.
With that said, I'm going with Roach's prediction on this one. An early KO or a late (9th/10th) round stoppage. PAC and Roach has a strategy to end the fight quickly in the early rounds by exploiting Cotto's habits or "mistakes" and using PAC's much superior speed. If that won't come then PAC will be more patient and will frustrate and break down Cotto slowly until the stoppage in the late rounds.
In almost every PAC fight, my predictions were PAC via TKO win due to cuts. It could happen on this fight.

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Great to see the poll is even. Its what boxing needs.
Im saying Cotto wins on points but would rule out a dodgy decision being given to Pac. That said If Cotto is clear enough in timing Pac and making him pay he should take it outta the judges hands
Cotto on points
-
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I went with PAcquiao but honestly, I wouldn't bet money on that, I did based more on the fact that I don't believe in Joe Santiago to prepare Cotto conveniently for this fight and based on the idea that the weight lost will affect him a bit but this is kind of a wild assumption from me.
-
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Well, I dont give a shiit if anyone moans about this but fuuck me, how can Manny come up such a large percentage of his pro debut weight and look bigger than Cotto?
Hes got sinews ripping out all over the place, whereas you can see with Cotto that hes moved up a weight, his body looks far more comfortable for him, Pac doesnt look drained like Hatton did at light welter on the scales but hes not got an ounce to spare!!
He must be doing or taking something extra, it might well be why he has long sessions away in the philipines, I just dont see and have never known a fighter to come through so many weights in such good shape and carry his speed and power up with him, in time im sure something will surface, I mean, a couple of years ago, whod have believed that Margarito was only dominant due to hardened wraps?
Iv got no idea how this ends, although I would say that Cotto loses, ive never been that sold on him, hes too One paced.

when he is here he makes movies, shoots tons of commercials. he has a tv series here too, he also host a tv show. meets up with politicians cause he will run for congress next year. this things never stops for pac. he doesnt rest at all. i literally see him on tv everyday unlike other boxers that you ll only see b4 during and after a fight.
one more thing cotto is bigger than pac. on the weigh in pics cotto is barefoot and pac is wearing rubber elevator shoes. lol

Re: Lets say Pacman vs Cotto 2009
If Pac KOs Hatton and beat DLH, that tells you that Pac can carry his power and Sturdy enough for Cotto. Maybe Arum will be crazy enough to make this fight.
Offence wise Pac can handle Cotto. Pac has longer arms and a much faster guy. Power right now belongs to Cotto but we still have to see the stronger Pac at 135-147. Pac vs Diaz, Hatton/DLH will answer that.
Now we knew how strong Pac is at 140-142, For this fight Pac will be at the heaviest at 145. That means extra power. Roach already revealed what M1P1 virus means, Pac's Middleweight Power. I see another Pac Domination in action Pack fight. Pac by rd 8 TKO.

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Voted Pac Man, although all logic says a good big man should beat the smaller guy, I thought Cotto looked a little drained at the weigh in, cheeks slightly hollow, Manny on the other hand looked a picture of good health with plenty in the tank for the later rounds, which I am sure this fight will go, Manny to win a wide ud for me.
