Chavez smacked him around that round. Both guys easy as hell to hit but going at it.
Duddy getting cracked and often. Getting into a bit of a hole here.

I loved that picture of Duddy where its like what the opponent sees when they're trying to hit him and he's got this gigantic photoshopped head. He's so easy to hit, always has been. Gatti was a defensive wizard compared to him. He really seems to want this though.
Lets see what happens late.

Duddy doesn't go enough to the body at all. Chavez is covering upstairs, so he should be going low. Duddy hitting gloves far too much. Just not effective.

I would score that a 10-8 round for Chavez. Regardless, 8-2.
Kind of wondering about chavez' power at this point. He looks like he gets pretty good leverage and he's bigger and stronger than Duddy but he's hit him without about a billion flush shots now and Duddy's never been out on his feet.
How did he not stop him there?
Come on Duddy suck it up, Chavez is kicking your ass.
Duddy has no defence, the right hand never misses. He has a lot of heart, but getting beaten up.

All joking aside, you have to wonder whether this is going the distance. :-\
Around round 6 I was praying Chavez would wilt...nope...oh well.
I had no real expectations for this fight, but it turned out to be quite fun and Chavez fought well. Hopefully we are going to get less bums and see him in real fights.

Great fight between two limited fighters! A bit of Gatti vs. Ward about it in a small way.
Both guys showed heart, spirit and guts that far exceed their skills. True warriors!
My only thought left is... How much did Wayne McCullough sell his chin to John Duddy for? ;D The lad is made of metal, haven't seen anyone take so many hard and flush shots for a while. I was sure Duddy was going to go from round 9 onwards, couldn't believe he made it to the end.

if chavez jr. keeps improving like this, he's going to be a world champion someday! all he ever needed was a good trainer and thankfully he's got one in roach. the fact that chavez jr. is only 24 years old, he has alot of time to improve. roach is smarter than everyone gives him credit for. he knows pacquiao is retiring soon and chavez jr. has a chance to be the new face of boxing after mayweather jr. and pacquiao. if roach can help chavez jr. bring out his potential, roach is sitting on an absolute gold mine. he and saul alvarez are potentially the next big things in boxing!
I know he's only 19, and I've only had limited exposure to him, but Alvarez hasn't impressed me much so far. He's still got a ton of room to grow though, but he needs to shore up his defense in a big way.Quote:
