I'm really liking Pirog so far. He's got Jacobs in full retreat, though Jacobs is boxing quite well off the back foot.

You have to feel for Jacobs though, his mind couldn't have been all in the right tonight considering the woman who raised him died a few days ago.

Jacobs will probably have an excuse for losing. He looked good in parts but he is the Amercian Amir Khan. Great against bums but faced with a similar aged/sized boxer he was out his depth. Good appetiser for the main event.

Pirog looked good, you could tell right off that he was pretty athletic and skilled.
I thought Jacobs was a bit of a hype job coming in but I'm sure that would be rough for him with the death, I didn't hear about that cause I'm watching a spanish language stream.

I was comparing it to Khan just as Johhny Nelson just did because it was a shock but thats what happens when you believe your hype. I think Jacobs has the fundamentals to comeback but I do like the look of Pirog. He is no Prescott.

Pirog is definitely more skilled than Prescott, I agree there. He looks to have a good future.
I am not impressed with Alvarez at all to be honest. The only thing impressive about him is his age, he gets hit way too much and he doesn't have devestating power.Quote:

Yeah I agree its unfair to judge him on what another fighter did in the same situation and its also unfair to give him that excuse for losing. If he thought he couldnt perform he should have pulled out and maybe he will learn from that but I think it goes back to the over confidence and thinking he could walk through Pirog.Quote:

They were talking about Jacobs situation prior to the fight on Sky Sports. The woman died a few days ago, it's not like there was a lot of time to talk about it and I doubt anyone would want to talk about that prior to the fight given how distracting it would be.Quote:

Diaz looks a bit better than I thought he would early on, but Marquez is landing the harder, more effective punches and I don't expect that Diaz will be able to stand up to them for long.

I'm impressed with Diaz so far. He looks like he's not nearly as shot as I thought he was and he's made some good adjustments. I don't think he's winning, but he's more competitive than I thought he would be.

Marquez has really slowed here in the last couple of rounds.
Diaz needs to keep pressing here. This fight got interesting late, but IMO it was too far gone at that point. Still, I'm impressed with Diaz' heart and he's not nearly as shot as I thought he was.
I was definitely wrong about Diaz. He came on late and redeemed himself after the Malignaggi fights and has probably, and justifiably, earned himself another decent payday.
Disappointing fight. Diaz fought in survival mode for most of the contest and only found some courage when he saw the fiishing tape. He had alot left in the tank at the end of 12 rounds which suggests he didnt put it all on the line and settled for a points loss instead of risking it.
Marquez looks on his last legs. Diaz didnt have what it takes to trouble him yet he appeared old and slow and his face looked like he had done 20 rounds. Diaz will probably have a decider with Paulie and Marquez will lose to Khan.
Casamayor and Diaz should meet for the 'just glad to be here' belt.Marquez kept it smart and is facing reality calling out Manny for justified 3rd go,regardless of most recents.He does not want to be a stepping stone name and I think thats the only reason Floyd fought him...the p4p bs and Manny relation.
