The same JMM who has just beaten the living piss out of one of the best fighters at 135, before stopping him? The same JMM who holds stoppage wins over Casamayor and Juan Diaz at 135?
I can't believe so many people have decided JMM can't compete at 140
JMM can compete at 147, he just can't deal with the outside style, even Malignaggi would beat JMM.

I hope you're kidding because malignagi isn't really an outside boxer, and second he gets murdered.

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
The more news I hear about this 3-site 2-site PPV card on Sky, the more I agree with Smashup that it seems to be falling apart.
Losing Chisora v Klitschko, even though it was likely to be a beating for Dereck, is the biggest fight to drop so far. Must say I was looking forward to that one, I was thinking he had a puncher's chance against a defensive Klitschko who doesn't like taking punches on the chin.
Then Frankie Gavin pulls out. Not that big a loss really, and I do like Larry Olubamiwo, but I'm not sure at all about the guy they've got in with him, one of those records that is hard to judge out of Eastern Europe, next to no names I recognise so hard to tell how hard his matchups are.
Nathan Cleverly losing Lakatos as the opponent as well isn't great. Lakatos had a few losses, but only to good-level guys. The guy they've drafted in Nadjib Mohammedi excited me at first, with a win over Tomas Adamek on his record. Sadly, that's the Czech Tomas, not the Polish Tomasz Adamek.
On the plus side, the revised running order from Warren's website has this listed:
CHAMPIONSHIP #5
THE SUPER-MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD
12 X 3 Minute Rounds @ 168 lbs
PAUL SMITH vs. JAMES DEGALE
DeGale world champion after 9 fights? Now that would be the slyest work of Warren's career!

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
The card is still better than Haye v Audley. :)

If Maidana lands the big shot early on....could the big fight be even quicker than that?

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Disappointed that the Wlad vs Chisora fight is off. I know it would have been onesided but it added to the long evening of fights. I had expected better opposition for Brook and Cleverly and the whole Warren card is pretty lightweight interms of quality bouts.
Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana is the main attraction for me. I do believe that Khan will get tagged at somepoint and his chin can't handle it at this level.

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Easy night's work for Kell Brook to start of the PPV there... Kotey was never going to be in there very long, and it just depended on how long Kell wanted to hold off with the right hand.
If this becomes the theme for the evening, then it could be along the lines of Gr8 Britain in the colonial era...beating up on countries who are completely overmatched and didn't know what a gun was until it shot them.
Talk of putting Brook in with Mike Jones, and I think he could do very well if that match-up was made.

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
How the hell can Kell Brook be ready for a world title shot? The guy he just beat would of maybe been fine if Kell was in his first ten fights as a pro, Warren needs to pull his fucking finger out or we will have another Kevin Mitchell on our hands, Brook needs to be tested and quick O Donnell or Watson would be a step in the right direction, I think if he fights Jones next he gets fucked up.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Kell needs to step it up he is beating everyone with ease.

This fight tonight was just a timekeeper as the WBO sorts out what's happening with the title now Pacman's gone up another division. He's clearly not looking to go the European route, because a Matthew Hatton fight doesn't add anything much to him. Yes it might go the way of Kevin Mitchell, but if you don't put him in there you'll never know. I think he's got the skills and punches hard enough to hold his own at world level, which I think FW will step him up to.

The thing is mate he has been in with no one whatsoever, no one near world class the Jennings fight was a non event, he needs a couple of durable fighters who come to win not tomato cans like this fella, must be hard to get him fights as I think Warren is confident in him considering he has put De Gale in there with Smith after 15 rounds of pro boxing leads me to believe it aint for trying on Warrens part, but there is a handful of british guys who would test him but like you say he is on the verge of a world title shot and maybe that would effect his ranking, but Warren found out the hard way with Mitchell that you need more seasoning and more tests before stepping in at world class.

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Macklin is looking crap so far.

I agree his comp ain't been great but you can see the lad is special. I think he finishes Mike Jones inside the distance if they meet. He strikes me as someone who will rise to the occasion. I'm a big fan.

Deffo mate I see Varon at this rate stopping him.

Is this place running slow for everyone? :-\
If Varon could punch Macklin would be done.

the site seems fine for me apart from nobody posting.
Macklin looks fucking awful tonight.
You can really see the difference between a genuine talent in Kell, and a decent domestic level fighter in Macklin.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Kell won me money, Macklin just cost me money, so I agree Kell is a far more obvious talent
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Is the Degale fight the main event?
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Looked like Macklin went in there expecting to work for 4 or 5 rounds then get him out of there, and once he realised that wasn't going to happen he got disheartened and dropped his workrate. Looked poor, his guard was bad and he wasn't too clever in the middle rounds. Props to Varon though, he fought hard, if not always fair, and gave Macklin a big scare in there.
Clev up next, hopefully should be more straightforward.

Yeah, Degale v Smith is the last of the title fights in the running order tonight.

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Cleverly up now. Really like Clev, to me him and Kell are our next breakout stars.
This kid is going to be in some great fights imo. I don't see him as that far behind Dawson and Pascal potentially. Not there yet obviously, but I think he can be at least as good as Clinton Woods. Good solid fighter, expecting him to shine again tonight,

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Are those Janet Jackson's back up dancers?
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
I'm backing an early night here for Cleverly - rds 1-3.. this guy looks a bit wild
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
I may have to root against this Cleverly guy simply because this guy's whole corner came out wearing vests with no shirts.

We're on the same wavelength tonight Bilbo, I've got high hopes for Cleverly, as my sig suggests, and even though it's a late change of opponent, Clev's a smart fighter, and I'm sure he'll adapt. Give him a year or so and hopefully we'll see him with a couple of defences under his belt and picking off the big names of the division.

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Clev looks huge compared to Mohammedi.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
I hate to bring up something about a Welshman smacking with his punches but at times it doesn't look like he's really closing his fists.
bit of a snoozer. To be fair the other guy isn't an easy to look good against type.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Strikes me as a fight that ends in a late KO for Clev, Mohammedi is using a ton of nervous energy.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
This guy was aggresive in the youtube vids. Funker turned up to survive
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Can someone send me a link when you guys stop watching Cleverly fight then cheers.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Good thing Clev landed a punch that round I have to base it on most effective feints until that point.
-
Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
hahaha
this fight is utter pony

Re: GR8 Britain vs The World - Khan v Maidana - Chisora v Klitschko..... etc
Cleverly actually looked in a bit of trouble there, a possible upset.
