Hatton goes this last round and it's a minor victory. He really earned his paycheck tonight.

Haha, way to hang in there.

Re: Matthew Hatton, let's cheer the 21st century Christian thrown to the lions.
Ok Alvarez gets an easy decision but Matthew Hatton won that fight. He showed heart and courage in a hopeless task, Alvarez just showed why Hatton was not a joke matchup because imo he's getting mashed up when he fights a world class fighter.

Re: Matthew Hatton, let's cheer the 21st century Christian thrown to the lions.
Well done Matt Hatton! A moral victory.
Alvarez was expecting to have it easy and to an extent it was, but he wasn't impressive.

1 thing I know for sure. Matt Hatton can make some really good money as a mid level kind of journeyman.

Definitely Saul should stay away from the likes of Kirkland, Angulo, Berto and maybe even Margarito at this stage. How Hatton survived definitely leaves me dumbfounded:-\

Love his style but holyshit he needs work...and a JAB. Props to Hatton

Re: Matthew Hatton, let's cheer the 21st century Christian thrown to the lions.
Now I hate him more cause I picked him to win by knockout.
The Magic Man is a showman, boxing needs more people who will go down after late punches.

Kirkland Vs Alvarez would be a war.

No maybe with Margarito. Margarito beats him down brutally imo.
I tell you who I'd love to see get a crack at him.
Ishe Smith. He's due a big win imo, and I think he would have a great shot against Alvarez.

Actually no, because Hatton is going back down to welter, and we know Cotto cant make that weight comfortably.

Not at all. He's fought many top prospects in recent years, and although he's lost the fights they have mostly been debatable and he's finished stronger than all of them.
He put Gurrero down and finished strong, he should have got the decision against Sechew Powell. He was lively against the much bigger Daniel Jacobs fighting at middleweight. He got a great win over the unbeaten Pawel Wolak.
He's been fighting out of his weight class to get the fights, move him back down to 154 and he gives Alvarez a very tough fight.
I guarantee if was a 12 rounder it would be a fight we would all be debating who won. Smith tends to start slow and would lose early rounds, but the second half of the fight he'd pick Alvarez apart imo. Over 10 rounds, Alvarez would win, over 12 I reckon Smith bangs out a decision.

No punk Cotto-Mayorga, you're certain Mayorga will win? Sig bet?
If Hatton wants to move back to 147, how about Cotto-Alvarez?

I'm calling you a punk.....a very unoriginal one at that.

Re: Matthew Hatton, let's cheer the 21st century Christian thrown to the lions.
He did well to go the distance, was clearly outclassed but before and during the fight I thought he'd be stopped.
-
Re: Matthew Hatton, let's cheer the 21st century Christian thrown to the lions.
Just for that no, but I will make fun of you when he loses. You and Elterrible should really learn some manners. What is with the name calling your panties in a bunch?

Re: Matthew Hatton, let's cheer the 21st century Christian thrown to the lions.
haha I started cheering for Hatton, too bad his corner kept telling him not to exchange. I thought if he would of just kept engaging and try stay inside he would of won the fight or at least made it a lot closer.
Alvarez is still very young and he needs a lot of work IMO. I saw him get stun in there more than a few times. Hopefully they let him take his time and allow him to improve before he himself gets thrown in to the lions. I think the elite would dominate him.

Re: Matthew Hatton, let's cheer the 21st century Christian thrown to the lions.
Lost widely but i'm very impressed.
Don't think anyone on this site gave hatton a chance and most people seemed to be predicting a ko before the 5th.
haven't seen it yet but read the reports and enjoyed reading this thread, watching people treat hatton like a chump and then having respect by the end of the fight
Nice 1 matthew hatton, deserves another big fight in my mind where he gets a bit more respect

Re: Matthew Hatton, let's cheer the 21st century Christian thrown to the lions.
What was the final deal with the money? Canelo was fined 20% for coming in over the contracted weight limit, but wasn't he also fined for coming in above 160 at the time of the fight?

Apparently Hatton settled rather than pull out. 30% of his $350,000.
