Did you watch the first match or the rematch?

I thought Wlad was very good in the rematch....that first right cross straightened Byrd's dreads ;D

Haye needs to put it on him as early as possible ... land some huge shots and back him up!

If he does he'll stop him in 4/5.

If not Wlad will grind out a late stoppage.

Umm how would he know that??? Also don't ya think we woulda heard about that then and not from haye five years later who was in no way or shape involved in that fight. On a funny note stewart offered to go fight the dude from hayes camp who first made the accusation, I say put it on the undercard cause from what I gather it would be an improvement to the current one.

Fightnews has reported that the WBA may not sanction the bout due to a dispute on the selection of referee Genaro Rodriguez :vd: ....there's no depth too low for Sauerland and the WBA title holder.

....Though at this point the actual belt is just a minor bonus to Wlad, I'm sure he just wants to bludgeon that bastard into submission.

Pti just talked about the fight and I got to say nobody at espn should be allowed to talk about boxing other than the fnf crew, all they did was thrash the fight just as they tried to dominish what bhop had done when beatin pascal. Its like they hate boxing

ESPN has no fucking clue about boxing or soccer unless you watch shows specific to those sports.

The ESPN guys apparently think its cute to ACT like they have no clue who either of the fighters are or have any idea that a heavyweight fight is happening....why??? Wlad's not an American....that's all there is to it.

People wonder why boxing is getting such a bad rap its because of people continuously slamming the sport, they NEVER have anything positive to say about it....its all Ali and Tyson and "Man, things were soooo much better when _____" and no other sport (bar basketball post Michael Jordan) had the issues boxing has had with people hating on it.

I'm 99% sure the title will be on the line. I can though for once see where the WBA are coming from. This guy has let Wlad hold excessively in the past and that is something that should be addressed.

On simple solution, use a referee that hasn't been used in either mans fights before!

IMO the ref should be a neutral, someone like Cortez or kenny baylis. Smoger would be excellent for this fight.

How is Genaro Rodriguez a biased ref?

Also heard the one about how Manny Steward wants to train Haye against Vitali. I am sure Haye writes down what would annoy Wlad and throw him off his game whilst he is training and tries it during the week of the fight.

The Sky team hit the nail on the head though, they have shone the torch on the ref now so he will feel pressured into stopping any of the holding from Wlad like Cortez was in the Hatton vs Mayweather fight by the Mayweather camp.

....I love the irony that you Brits who called Joe Cortez a horrible ref are now calling for him to ref the biggest fight of the WBA title holder's career. And its even more laughable because Wlad's had Cortez ref his fights before and he's probably had more success with him than with the ref they eventually chose.

Cortez and mayweather are from the same country = bias

Cortez has no national affiliation with either fighter and there hasn't to my knowledge been any complaint from either fighter about Cortez officiating in a previous fight.

There also won't be an american national anthem to be booed before the fight (which is a shame because I for one believe any national anthem (especially the american one) should be booed whenever it is played) so I don't think Cortez will be getting his knickers in a knot about that.

There's no irony what so ever because this fight is between two different fighters, in a different stadium, in a differnt country to the hatton vs mayweather fight.

Hornfinger I haven't answered your "don't you want a fair fight?" question because I don't accept the premise that having Genaro Rodriguez (who was voted in and agreed to as the ref by all the sanctioning bodies including the WBA no less) suggests the fight is skewed one way or the other in favor of either fighter.

I'm tired of the grandstanding that the WBA title holder has done...I doubt he makes more noise in the ring than he does out of it. The thing I'm most looking forward to on Saturday is the 10 seconds of silence when the WBA title holder is being counted out.
