Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
Rhodes is not much better than a sparring partner in this fight, he's game, but just over-matched.
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
Rhodes gonna be pissing blood for a week from that body attack
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
Now he's just landing at will, i feel like he could easily put him away
-
Rhodes using fake aggression pressing forward not throwing hoping Saul dosent punch him lol

Yeh. He's got the showcase here, he should go for the statement stoppage big time.
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
Time to close the show...its been there for awhile. Alvarez doesn't set up attack well...he fights in spurts but its working wonders vs a Rhodes
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
To be that calm and poised at 21
-
Would have loved to see Kirkland from 09 in there and see how Alvarez handles unrelenting pressure and power.. That went down the toilet when he got ko'd in the 1st round by a grocery bagger
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
I didn't think this would go more then about 8 rounds, if it's any consolation to Rhodes, he's managed to survive a pretty good shellacking.
I believe Canelo is more beloved/popular in Mexico than Chavez Jr. is.
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
why did rhodes even show up, he should have just quit on his stool... Yeah he's getting outclassed bad but he should at least try and win the fight. Even if he's trying to just survive the 12 rounds he's going about it horribly.
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
That tko could have happened 5 rounds ago.... anyway, that was a beautifully fought fight by Canelo and the kid totally outclassed his competition. Granted, his competition couldn't have fought that fight any worse
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
strong ring dominance throughout the fight, very mature performance from alvarez. Rhodes just couldnt keep up with the pace set all night by Alvarez. He didnt have anything to trouble Alvarez.
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
I don't know about the stoppage, but whatever, Rhodes had no chance anyway.
Good performance by Canelo, I believe there's a lot more talent there than what Chavez Jr. brings.
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
Outstanding performance by Alvarez. Beat on this so-called tough opponent who was suppose to present a danger all night and than closes the show
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
I thought Rhodes would get battered but I thought he'd get battered trying to win. I cant believe I stayed up for that, I thought Rhodes would have his moments but the most agressive thing he did all night was refuse to wear the Corona cap ;D
-
Ok time to step up, no more of this weak competition.. This better not be Golden Boys JCCjr.. This kid has the potential to wipe out anyone from 147-154 including PAC and Mayweather..
-

Hes got some patience, just wanna see what happens when someone doesn't stand outside and except role so much
I think he has slight stamina issues but by getting rounds he can make pace in long run

It was mismatch from the get go, some good work for Alvarez however, and another 'W' on his resume.
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
Why the fuck are they inerviewing Rhodes 1st...if at all ???
Ahhh To heap the praise...got it ;)
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
im still shocked at just how calm and how well he dominated the fight throughout. This is the first fight of his i've seen, does he always box like this?? I know some people consider these types as boring but i love watching a solid technical fight. I'm very curious to see if he can keep such composure with a pressure fighter. Anyway, as stated before, he fought a brilliant fight. Also, i like how he didnt let the crowd pressure him into making stupid mistakes.

Vanes Martirosyan is his mandatory I believe. He's undefeated and better than Rhodes. Gets smashed as well

Not seen Rhodes before and not bothered if I don't see him again, Matty Hatton landed more shots on Alarez than Rhodes just didn't have near enough power.
Alvarez is definitely one to watch but I don't think he's ready for Pac or Floyd yet, I'll reserve judgement until I see how he takes shots from another heavy hitter.
-
Hahaha he would smash Chavez to pieces
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
I hope Alvarez can fight Angulo in the near future, I think that would be a defining fight for the young man. He has some much potential for a 20 year old, his performance was so dominant. He brings a lot to the table at 154 imo, and he should be matched with the best. I do however think that at 20 is it too early to put him in against the best of the world? But with a record like his and with the experience that he is getting with these wins it makes me feel that he would be able to beat the best. What are his options from this fight now?
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
I dont know if id go that far, i mean mayweather and pac are completely different fighters then either of those two. This kid def shows great potential but let him get some quality wins under his belt before he even thinks of fighting those two. Remember what happened to Vargas when he was moved up to fight Vargas before he was ready?

Like I stated he has the POTENTIAL. Who in recent memory at 20 looks so seasoned and poised with the total package? Kids got the best upside I'v seen in ages

Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
I missed the Broner litzau, Broner knocked him out 1st round? Wow didnt see that coming.

Broner jumped on Litzau a minute or so into the 1st round, got him pinned up against the ropes, and knocked him out, it was a bit of a shock, because I thought Litzau would do better, maybe even win.
I guess we'll have to wait a while to see Broner get his ass handed to him. :(
-
Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
Yeah I was hoping Litzau would win too, was it just a big punch that put him loopy or what? Saw that it was very close to the end of the round , was it a good stoppage?

I've seen Alvarez maybe 5 or more times now and he is definitely getting better each time he fights.
Shame Rhodes couldn't hang in there, thought he gave it his all, I don't remember him trying to hold on once. Shame he couldn't get more punches off.
You can't forget just how young that kid is, people will go on about his record, but he is moving up levels quickly now and fighting people at least with enough heart to make him work.
I don't want to jump on the band wagon, but this kid is gonna be great.
I love his style, reminds me of an old school style fighter. Love his right hook to the body then right uppercut combo he throws too.

Show some fucking respect!! Rhodes never had golden ops like golden boys do!!!
Rhodes showed awareness and slickness with Alvarez.
I always give both winner and loser credit.

Yeah, the stoppage was the right call, Litzau had gotten pounded, was knocked down and defenseless.
Good win for Boner, but I can't wait to see this mo-fo get clowned.

Getting KTFO, might actually improve Litzau's IQ.
BTW, Litzau was winning the round before getting KTFO.

Re: "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes on HBO Saturday June 18th
Spirited showing by Rhodes there, he did us proud. I think he can get another shot at the title from that fight.

Rhodes gave it his best shot and has nothing to be ashamed of, but seriously, what trinket holder at 154 do you think he could actually beat?
BTW, I thought Rhodes looked an additional 10 years older in the post fight interview.

I do not think he can win but he can earn some money from that performance.

That's a thought, maybe he could get another decent payday or 2 before calling it quits.
