Hehehe, I don't appear to be an undecided voter, do I now. ;)
The last time around in 2008, I really didn't care who won, because I thought McCain/Palin was a horrible choice by the Republicans, not that I liked Obama any better, so I ended up not voting. This go round i'm backing Romney/Ryan 100%, and giving them all the support I can, I simply can't stomach Obama.
-
Re: Romney vs. Obama - 2012 Presidential Debates - Let's score it!
Well, the percentage of undecided voters between the Republicans and Democrats has actually been going down according to the press coverage we get over here, so the result seems to be going down to a much smaller percentage of the US population.
Personally I hope that the polls are wrong and that the Democrats take it again, but Romney was much more impressive in the first debate. I hope Obama is in a boot camp in the Russian mountains somewhere training like Rocky to overcome in the next couple of debates. Indeed, I hope he gets a training montage.

BO, got into office for a number of reasons:
#1 the Dems/Libs demonized Bush as a "war criminal" who along with the other Republicans were painted as being solely responsible for the economic meltdown. (which was a fucking lie)
#2. McCain/Palin was a horrible choice, and many undecided voters were disillusioned with the Republicans.
#3. Voters overlooked the fact that Obama was little more then a small time lawyer/congressman and black community organizer, who was totally unqualified to be "President", since he was elected in 2008 his leadership has been non-existent.
#4. Much of Obama's support came from the "undecided", (and blacks of course) white female voters, mostly lesbians/feminists, and Oprah headed nitwits (40% of white female voters) and younger voters who were gullible enough to buy into Obama and/or the liberals lies and promises.
#5. Voters bought into the liberal brainfart that a positive "change" would occur, another claim which the last 4 years has shown to be totally false.

If I remember right you consider yourself Welsh? In any event you're from the UK, you might feel different about Obama if you were a white male who grew up in the U.S.. The only white male Obama supporters that I know of here in the U.S. are ass-raped liberal imbeciles like Joe Biden/gays or queer actors like George Clooney.

You're right, if I was a white male who grew up in the United States then its perfectly possible that my political leanings would be very different. And indeed, my American friends that I know well are from the north-western states which I understand is naturally more liberal anyway.
One of the differences between politics on both sides of the pond is that voting to the right wing is generally a vote for keeping things the same, and whilst in America there is the hope of the American dream going from nothing to being very wealthy, a vote to the right wing in the UK is more about keeping the rich folks rich and the poor folks poor.
But, like the US, both wings are making more and more concessions until they are much closer together on the middle ground than they traditionally would be.

I don't know anything about politics or the political parties in the UK, I did used to watch some of the televised debates they held in Parliament? Which was a fucking trip, the labor party vs. the conservatives or some such thing. Different speakers would debate each other as only the British/Scottish/Welsh/N. Irish can. ;)
You may mistakenly believe that Democrats (liberals) and Republicans (conservatives) here in the States are similar to the parties in the UK, and from a strictly 'government' or governing perspective that may be somewhat true. However, the sociological, demographic, and ideological differences between the 2 parties is another matter, it's like 2 different cultures. I hope this makes sense. :-X

Re: Romney vs. Obama - 2012 Presidential Debates - Let's score it!
I cannot get over how fickle the US general public is. Latest polls apparently have Romney ahead and on the back of what exactly? He blatantly showed contempt for half of the nation and on the back of a debate which showed him talking out of his arse, people have now decided 'he'll do then'. It is nonsense. Part of me cannot help but feel it is all one big pantomime, a giant puppet show and the ultimate aim is just to give the masses a good show. 5 days later it will be back in Obama's favour and you find that what you really have is nothing more than Presidential pop idol.
What an absolute joke of a political process. No firm policies and we know for a fact that any half baked pledges will never be implemented. As ever there is no accountancy in US politics, just a huge charade and a lot of rancid air being blown around.

I believe very few nations have a 'democracy' quite like that of the USA. It is a two party dictatorship where the will of the general population is largely ignored. At least real dictatorships don't pretend to be anything other than what they are. Romney or Obama? Behind closed doors its the same old teams of advisers regardless of who gets in. An elite for the elite and a few crumbs passed down to a general public that gets the raw end of the stick. Forty years of history is proof of the pudding.

:vd: we're not a God damned Democracy we're a Constitutional Republic! When we say The Pledge of Allegiance we don't pledge allegiance to The Democracy, we pledge "To the Republic".

You are being silly. You have no Queen thus are a Republic. Yes or No?
You claim to be a leading democracy? Yes or No?
I will disagree on one answer, but I don't know why you keep refuting Democracy. Well....hahahaha....considering recent years of course I can.
Nothing democratic about Guan tam, or Bradley Manning, or forcing protesters from their grounds.
America is a republic! But has no democracy.

miles, all due respect but you're a fucking moron.
Bradley Manning, and this is important so read it slowly and carefully, BROKE...THE...LAW ergo he is being punished. He could have been put to death for what he did.
When protesters are on PRIVATE property then the owner of said property can say whether or not they can stay and eventually the owner of Zuccatti Park got tired of the dirty little Fauxhemians and Trustafarians trashing their property....plus they were keeping people from going to work, keeping people from earning a living, keeping people from buying goods and services in that area like some sort of hipster led blockade. America is about Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Property and if you hinder one of those you've violated our most simple of laws and the protestors did that....I would tell them to get jobs, but in Obama's economy that's hard enough for normal people much less those walking shitstains who are too fucking lazy and entitled to do work.

Re: Romney vs. Obama - 2012 Presidential Debates - Let's score it!
Lyle, Manning revealed hushed up crimes in. Are we to assume that a moral man would be wrong in releasing that data? To be put to death for that would make you look the lowest of the low internationally. Again.
Your final argument is a horse stain. Protesters were split up and abused and then sanctioned out. No coming back. Can you blame them for giving up when they really are not considered.
Society is effectively crushed and is so because of the two party dictatorship. There is no alternative to fight for. Nobody will pick up you cause.
The whole thing is a dumbed down pantomime.
-
Re: Romney vs. Obama - 2012 Presidential Debates - Let's score it!
I will further add that law no longer exists in an environment that doesn't respect the Geneva Conventions. Manning was wrong? And Guantanamo Bay is right?
It is just so absurdly nonsensical. Look at America, the people within might think it is meaningful, but everyone else knows what America is. Let the charade continue. A few drones tonight, yeah?

List of charges against Bradley Manning - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia those are the charges against Manning and they are hefty and very serious
The Occupy Wall Street movement was stupid, those protesters are stupid, and you cannot "do as you please" on property you don't own. Did THEY pay for the clean up? Did THEY pay taxes on the property? Did THEY buy the property? NO they are just a bunch of crying little children who need to learn that gtood lives aren't just handed out to any schmuck walking down the street, people WORK people save, people EARN a better life....those dumbasses just want me to pay for them to go to school forever and I won't because it's not fucking productive.

Re: Romney vs. Obama - 2012 Presidential Debates - Let's score it!
Manning revealed war crimes perpetuated by your government. That is the act of a hero.
It amazes me why Manning has been treated like he has, but I see it is because too many in your country are so incredibly dumb, vulgar and lacking in any sense of justice.
Lyle, you speak like a man that has never been poor. You clearly have no idea what it is like. It is hard and when you are left to crony capitalism, you have a right to get upset.
When entire communities suddenly exist in China, what do you do? Very little, the community is decimated in the states. It has happened everywhere.
My only real escape from the similar situation facing Americans was to get out and never come back. I have done very well, but everyone will need to find their own path.
The current Western Models are a tragedy. America beyond all description.

Manning broke the law, what about that did you not get?
I've been poor before but why would protesters wish to create MORE poor people by blocking their businesses and keeping them from going to work not the Wall Street guys, but the people running the diners and coffee shops and bakeries around that park? No, you have NEVER known poor. You are a fake Lyle. Poor is losing your parents, losing a home, killing a dog, then being teased at school for being a homeless type.
You have never been through it, but many Americans have. And maybe that is why I relate more.

I think that discussing politics whilst having a beer with any of you would be a bad idea. Miles can enjoy the one brand of beer allowed in Communist Russia, but personally when it comes to variety and selection of beer I'll go for a capitalist ale.

Miles is in South Korea, not the commie North, chances are he can get a variety brews, foreign and domestic there. miles probably spends several hours reading and re-reading all the info on the beer bottle before he drinks it, and refuses to drink any of that american swill. :-X

Do you have anything against pedantic folk who are obsessive about punctuation. I let it slide the first time in this thread, but we all have a breaking point, and there should be no apostrophe in that word.
