Re: Romney vs. BO - Tuesday night Election chat thread
Back to the election...
I've made it clear that I back Obama. He may not have completely accomplished everything he set out to do 4 years ago, but general consensus is that things are turning around. Maybe slower than expected or desired... but change (especially economic turnaround) is sometimes slow.
For some reason, I find it hard to trust Romney. He just doesn't instill that trust that a Presidential candidate should. He has contradicted himself numerous times... he hardly seems fit to play the part of "middle-class champion"... and his background in business and commerce does not necessarily qualify him to handle the delicate foreign affairs that are also important. To think otherwise, IMO, is being short-sighted.
180-Degree changes in government every 4 years is hardly conducive to growth and prosperity. It's called "momentum." It takes 6 months to a full year to stop the momentum of the previous administration and get the ball fully rolling the other way. Between that, and all the finger-pointing that everyone does.... it's a miracle anything gets done in a mere 4 years.
George Jr. got 8 years, and he didn't deserve them. He was still riding the coattails and the fear of post-9/11. It's the only way he would've gotten elected to a second term.
I'm TitoFan.... and I approve this message.

I think both guys are poor at best and I'm not really affected by the outcome in any real way, but holy shit is this tense.
We're not going to know who won for at least a week.

Naw, it is practically a lock. News is just being news...trying to keep people excited and not heading to bed yet. Ratings, ratings, ratings.

Think so? I'm only watching CBC and they all seem to think it's close, but that's obviously in their interest.

It's looking like BO takes Ohio and Wisconsin, 2 states Romney can't afford to lose and still win the electoral college vote, I believe Obama will be re-elected and the predicted result will be known by 11:00-11:30 PM ET tonight.
I'm outta this hijacked thread.

I don't know how accurate this is, but on CBC they are saying that the majority of the votes counted in Ohio are from the very Democratic north. If true, the numbers we're seeing right now could change a fair bit.

It is close. But the whole design of it and nearly every prediction for a fairly substantial O win, is falling in place. Funny thing is, a part of me wants Romney to win. for the epic librul butthurt throughout american, plus accusations of cheating and the lawyers etc...but it won't be.

Indeed. Things are look good for the Dems so far, but it is not over yet. How are the 3rd party candidates doing in terms of votes? Any chance they get to 5%?
-
Re: Romney vs. BO - Tuesday night Election chat thread
Not a chance for 5%. Right now we have to be happy if we can get 1%
-
Re: Romney vs. BO - Tuesday night Election chat thread
Now would be a good time to start tearing down the works of the repub party. Start building it up with a libertarian slant or just court the people from it that want to effectively work on real problems, be it state control w/e...focus on real problems of freedom. Not just the empty words. Like gov in our computers, and taking our rights to play poker in the privacy of our homes with our own money, all the other kinds of bullshit that comes with it.

Really? Too bad. I know it would never happen, but I would have loved to see both the Libertarians and the Greens get 5%.

The counties that are Republican in Ohio don't compare in population with the areas that are Democratic. Right now about 73% counted, it's close, but Obama is ahead, and it looks like he will take it. CNN is projecting Obama to take it. Ohio hasn't chosen a losing president since 1960, no other state comes close to our record. Ohio is always a key state in the presidential elections. I mean both candidates were in Cleveland today for a last minute pitch.
I'm just glad to have this over with already. I can listen to the radio or watch tv without all the political ads, and not come home to having 10 political calls on my answering machine. I hate living in Ohio during presidential elections. You have no idea how bad it is in this state during this time.
Just looked at CNN and the are declaring Obama the winner. Ohio put him over the electorals he needed.

Re: Romney vs. BO - Tuesday night Election chat thread
The Republican party has to have a come to Jesus moment, so to speak.
Obviously the black vote went a long time ago, but the way they went out of their way to fuck themselves with the hispanic vote was hilarious. Is hilarious. It's not even like it's a complete game changer now, but it will be. For what its worth, I enjoy their self-inflicted meltdown.
Not to mention the silly social issues bullshit.
I hope they don't change things. They need to, hopefully they won't. Thankfully they have to worry about their psycho tea party base.

Re: Romney vs. BO - Tuesday night Election chat thread
Obama has this now. I have a hard time seeing Romney turn this around. I get no satisfaction from the result though and looking at the system Obama is going to have a nightmare trying to get anything done. The political system is appalling and see I no real way for America to get its act together in the interests of the populace with all of the shit floating about. It is corrupt to its heart and only the indoctrinated can be celebrating any of this. There is nothing to be pleased about, the lesser of two evils wins. Nothing more.

Re: Romney vs. BO - Tuesday night Election chat thread
This one leaves ya feeling empty if I'm honest. I've never felt so fingers up to both as I do this election. Obama just phoned it in as far as campaign and I don't have any reason to think things will change, and Romney never garnered serious support from right because they saw him as an 'outsider' in a way. He was adrift the whole way.
If there ever was a time to yell third party or demand alternative its now!!
On a sidenote someone needs to smack Donald trump around with a big sack of can goods while yelling 'get tha fuck ova yourself non factor' :p.

Don't be so hard on orange supremacist Donald Trump.

Re: Romney vs. BO - Tuesday night Election chat thread
I agree Spicoli. There needs to be a viable 3rd choice and people need to fuck up the system that exists now. Just an exodus to something decent and viable. I have few expectations of it working though. The election is just an occasional crumb to the masses to make them feel part of the game. It isn't democracy when neither party represents the will of the people. It is just a routine.

What percentage of the electorate is going to be white males in 2016? In 2020?
Serious problems for Republicans.

Still, considering the Bush years are still in recent memory, it is scary to see the overall vote almost neck and neck. This is a loony party that a lot of peculiar people are still voting for in swathes.

As horrible as GB was, he had the foresight to try to appeal to the hispanic base, but his party said no.
Emerging Democratic majority.
And the thing is that hispanics are generally thought of as socially conservative.
The social issues are killing them. Immigration is killing them (longer term). The tea party is killing them.

It is shocking really. And I think those sentiments are pretty much everywhere and have been for a while. "HOW IN THE FUCK IS THIS EVEN CLOSE?"
And it's a problem. The Dems need a rational argument against them.

Not sure if you guys watch Fox News at all for the lulz or w/e, but Karl Rove has been on all night with the worst case of butthurt ever witnessed by modern man. I mean, he was still arguing with them they were calling it too soon. He was not accepting FOX calling it lol.

Re: Romney vs. BO - Tuesday night Election chat thread
Haha, that would be funny to watch. ;D
I've just been watching it on CNN. They pretty much have it signed and sealed. Romney appears to have condeded. We should be hearing him soon. I wish he would hurry up as I want to get back to Lawrence of Arabia.
