Abner Mares vs. Anselmo Moreno Saturday night fight/chat thread

Mares really likes to punch people in the balls.

What did Moreno just lose a point for? Seems unnecessary given how many shots to the junk he's taken in the last two rounds.

I don't think its that close either Morena has a few moments, but Mares just throws so many more punches and is putting alot of effective aggression on Moreno. I haven't been scoring it RBR but so far i think Moreno only has a arguement in 3 of the rounds.

The ref should even things up by taking a point from Mares the next time he hits low.

A point taken away from Moreno for pulling down Mares head in the 11th.

Mares was hurt from those body shots we could see something dramatic in the 12th round.

I believe Moreno needs a KO to win in the 12th, and that ain't likely.

I'm really surprised Moreno didn't go back to the body in the 12th.

I believe Mares wins by something like 116-112.

I tell you what had Moreno not had a point deducted this could of been pretty close, Moreno for certain won the last 2 rounds. And even though im a Mares fan he should of had a point deducted, and that knock down was a bit 50/50 also.

When i get sometime i'd like to rewatch this and score this, Moreno definately comeback in the last 2 rounds and he had a BS point deduction and a 50/50 knockdown call which maybe could of been ruled a slip.

The right guy won. A bit dirty but he deserved it.

I'd die a happy man if I see one ref whose got the balls to give Mares one damn point deduction for the low blows...Just one ref in one fight. I thought Bradley was bad with headbutts but this dude is like Golota

Dr Jen's 120-106 needs to be investigated. That's just fucking ridiculous, and would mean that Moreno didn't win one round of the fight, and Mares got 2 extra points for the KD in the 5th and the point deduction.

mares will be dq'd if a ref with any integrity is assigned to one of his fights... i suspect that will never happen tho.

I personally don't think it was a close fight as far as points go...

However to the eye and it first glance Moreno made it a really good fight.
I had the fight 116-110 as well. Close as far as action goes and what we saw but at the end of the day I believe it was a clear win for Mares.


Gotta give the kid a lot of credit. He trained hard and it showed. He should be getting nothing but praise and respect at this time. "Chemito" Moreno is an outstanding boxer with a good set of skills.

With all that being said I believe Nonito beats Mares. Nonitos speed would be the factor.

For now though take a good rest kid get some family time and enjoy yourself.

Mick I go for Donaire, a well I feel he will box Mares head off , Nonito will ko him he is far to open
and that's one thing you don't want to have, against Donaire is not much defence.

I agree. If Mares tries to rush him like he did Moreno, it'll be a short fight because Donaire will tag him with powerful counter-punches.
