Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
Here are a few quotes from Martin Murray before the fight.
It doesn’t bother me that Golovkin hits hard.
I know he hits hard, I know it’s going to be a tough fight and I know I might get hurt. I’m ready and prepared for it, though…I’m expecting a long, hard fight and I’m expecting to have to go through a lot of pain.
I know this is a proper battle and I know it will have to be a war. I’m ready for it!

He was and he gave it all. How he carried on after that brutal body attack

Why do people fear Ward so much? No better time to fight him than now. GGG has cleaned out all the gatekeeper types from 160 and the never were types from 154, the champions from 160 aren't going to fight him so why not look to the good fight that is available?

Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
I wouldn't have any worries for Ward going in against GGG - If Ward had fought every single one of GGG's opponents everyone would be saying it proves nothing about weather he's ready to fight again at the top -
Yes GGG's been destroying them - so makes for an exciting fight but I wouldnt be worrying too much if I was Ward - or Froch TBF
Would love to see Golovkin Kessler though! - shame he retired
Golovkin Dirrell would be great too to see how well he can close down the ring!

Have a small ring, that is how.

They do fear ward and just use the excuse (which is slightly true) that he doesn't sell tickets etc or needs to get back in the mix again.
It's not wards fault he has had all these problems and even froch honestly said he would loose to ward in the rematch on points again.

Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
Who is they? ;D He is not even in the same weight division why should Golovkin be denied the chance to unify and make some decent money at his own weight? Ward, Schmord:p

Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
My stream is a bit delayed. Murray having some success now! I think he might just do this!

Because this talk has been going for years. They aren't going to fight him. Cotto isn't a real middleweight. And Quillen has proven nothing. So what are we talking about, Lee? It's double talk, the belts are meaningless, the belts are meaningless, let GGG get the belts.
Are they meaningless or not?
I say it's about who you fight and I'm sick of waiting. GGG has fought some good gate keeper types while we wait. I can't be the only one sick of waiting am I? He's too good for the guys he is fighting. If you are too good and there are better guys to fight you should fight better guys.

Good body shot from Murray! I feel like this one is starting to go his way!

Yes, it is his fault he has so many problems!
He wants to be Floyd, thinks he deserves what Floyd has, and can't understand why everyone else doesn't think so.

Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
The ring appears to be the size of a ten cent stamp. Murray did well in round 7. I was shocked to see no thread for the fight.

Lol the title of this thread made me think there wasn't one so I watched it on my own.
And the ring looked even smaller on the Hbo broadcast on television then it did on my pc earlier on the str3am. Surprised Murray went along with that.

Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
Impressed by both right now! Murray is the guy I want next to me when it goes bad ;D Golovkin is such a mauling calculator and looks human tonight but its for the better. This guy is a trip. Props to Murray for going out toes up
-
Golovkin DID look human against Murray.
-
Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
Damn, I had to miss this fight. Just seen it on You Tube though and good performance from both guys. Golovkin was just too active and strong for Murray. Still, GGG stretched a little further again.

Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
Steve Collins said the right hook that comes down on the head of the opponent is illegal. Why?

Neither do I, in fact I think GGG could injure his hand doing that.

If it means getting Cotto, Canelo and Quillin then yes.

Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
What's up with mention that the downward punch ggg was throwing was illegal. I can't remember seeing anything quite like it but anyone know a reason or if it is truly illegal

Steve Collins mentioned it on channel 5 in the studio. GGG knocked out Rubio with it.
-
Punches to the back of the head are definitely not allowed but his land on the top of the forehead so I dont see the problem.
Murray showed great heart but was just a ko waiting to happen sitting on the ropes, the problem is when the other guy tastes Golovkins power they naturally back away and Golovkin is so good at cutting the ring down that before you know it your on the ropes anyway.
Loads of Golovkins opponents have said he puts you in places you dont wanna be with his footwork.
Golovkin really is unique and something very very special.
He turns his wrists inwards just before his punches land too which increases the power and accuracy which makes him a lethal body puncher.
Great great fighter and brilliant to watch.
-
Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
Most definitely, beautiful to watch. Doesn't really matter what size the ring is for ggg he'll make it the size he wants. Kellerman was trying to ask him if he fears for his opponents when he's unloading. Ggg is obviously putting n the effort to learn English but he didn't grasp the question, I wish he had, I would have liked to hear the answer. When you can lift a guy off his feet, you have devastating power. I think it will follow him up or down with ease.
-
Re: Golovkin v Murray - Preview and Videos
I was surprised with the shift in the 7th, Golovkin looked like he willingly gave up his face to work on things. In complete brutal control but he was being touched quite a bit , and then started that arcing left hook to do some serious damage. Reminded me of the way Foreman chopped down with the right hand in comeback.

He looks like a fucking idiot throwing that punch over and over again.
"KOing" Rubio with it was one thing but throwing it over and over again in a fight makes him look like a jackass.
