Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
Floyd needs to cement these rounds and justify these millions.
Put some power on these pot shots.

Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
Manny needs a gun to win this fight

Floyds lead right and Mannys forehead will be renting a room after this. Floyd in prevent check cashing mode here. 116-112 at best or worst and after a drink. Meh

At least manny had a few exciting rounds.
Manny is still a great fighter.

Not sure yet but if khan go against floyd i hope floyd give him a real assbeating, can't stand Khan...i rather see Keith thurman?, Roach already been wrong once, he said only two people can beat floyd, manny and khan. ...

"I thought I won the fight!" Manny, don't make yourself look a cunt now. smh

Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
I had it 117-111, but I can see the argument for 116-112. The right man won.
-
Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
116-113 for me to May - be interested to hear from Roach
-
Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
Mayweather beat him pillar to post.
-
Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
I think it would have looked different 5 years ago when Pacquiao had faster feet and a better motor, but I think the result would have been the same.
Two final thoughts that have nothing to do with the fight:
1) Max Kellerman is still a stupid cunt.
2) I would love to see someone kick Leonard Ellerbe right in his fat jiggly tits.
-
Manny seemed to let his foot off the gas as though coasting to save fuel for a last minute dash that never materialised. Floyd made it look easy at times but Manny leaving with marks on his back from all the leaning could have seen a point deducted after 7 warnings. Either way Floyd wins wide as most predicted but maybe not how. The first couple of rounds with Floyd throwing down a marker set it up. Double bluff and Freddie seemed as naive as Manny to expect it would have been the reverse.
Bit meh but actually could have been far more of an anticanticlimax. Good sporadic action from two great fighters and perhaps the same fight as would always have happened even when at their peak.

I seriously hope no one ever mention they wanna see a rematch.

I had it 117 - 111 as well, my mate just text me and said that Manny was the clear winner, fucking idiot
Mayweather absolutely coasted that, yes he doesn't throw as many punches as others but he doesn't need to, I thought Manny made himself sound like an idiot afterwards by saying he won and then not giving Floyd any credit at all, he didn't hurt him, he didn't throw enough, he kept moving away from him etc etc
I didn't think it would be that easy and as soon as we were half way through the first round I though "here we go again, another fight that mayweather is going to be able to stroll through again"
I'm glad he won but I was hoping that he would have a tougher night than that.
-
No version of Manny ever beats Floyd. He has always slowed his pace when being countered. You just can't beat Floyd with out a jab. Floyd is older than Manny, the whole waited him out argument is just sad. Arum always knew and that's why we waited. This fight wasn't just boring, it was easy, really easy for Floyd. Because Manny has no jab.
You have to have a good jab to open his defense for your big shots.

Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
Manny gave it the old college try but I had it 9-3 for Mayweather.
-
Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
Yeah it was bit of a dud but we all knew that could happen. We discussed how anticlimactic it could be 2 years ago. I was a little surprised how fast Floyd got complete control. I thought it was a guarantee that Manny would prove at least difficult for Floyd in the early going. Floyd almost looked like he carried him a bit.
They can both laugh to the bank though
-
Pacquiao could not pull the trigger. He should retire. Mayweather clearly won but it's far from a schooling. Pacquiao fought Floyd's fight and failed to make the rounds tough to score. This fight will haunt him forever. He almost cried when Kellerman asked him the right questions. Fuckin deserved it. $120 million and vacation was on his mind.
-
Strange fight for Manny IMO.
He did somethings well, like cut off the ring (to his right) and recognised Mayweather's traps and even did an okayish job of dealing with Mayweather s right hand (for all his flaws) but for my taste, he didn't feint Mayweather out of position on the ropes not nearly enough and completely failed to see how key the right hook could have been, up close... even after landing it.
I think maybe his his tactics and possibly even his camp were more concerned with his Mayweather's counter punching than his own offence.
-
Manny Pacquiao: "I thought I won the fight. He didn’t do anything. He always ran. I got hit many times. I saw the punches and I think I won the fight. It’s not easy to throw a lot of punches if the opponent is moving around. I can handle his power. It’s not like Margarito or Cotto."
Hahaha!!!!

What a joke perhaps that happens to the mind when you bunch shoulder injury, blisters caused by cheap socks, cramps and lucky punch claims the mind has built in excuses and a delusion

It went the way I expected the fight to go, Floyd was a bit more aggressive at the beginning of
the fight, and Manny followed him round landing very little, a fight for the purists both make
a lot of money.
Some would say the build up and hype were better than the fight,! there again Floyd was Floyd
and he won the fight his way, people were expecting fire works and they end up holding a sparkler.
-
Boxing will lose so many casual fans after that.
It needed to be a mega fight and something special after so much hype and fell well short.
What Floyd did in the ring was amazing though.
He's just too good
-
Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
What a borefest, Floyd is the new Wald and the sooner he retires the better. No one will watch his fight in September.

I think the first post I made on this forum just a few days ago predicted that this is exactly what would happen, the casual fans were expecting something absolutely amazing whilst the boxing fans knew it was never going to be explosive but that we would be more than happy with the skills on show.

I agree. I had a feeling pac will end up standing there when i heard they were working on nullifying Floyd's traps. Pac would have made it alot better if he focused on his offence more rather than what Floyd will do. But his post fight interview was ridiculous.

Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
That wasn't even close to being a sparing session. I was disappointed in Manny just trying enough to out point Floyd stupid fight plan. I feel sorry for all thousands of people that paid mega bucks to sit ring side. One thing for sure. A mega ppv will never happen again.

Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
may had the fight we expected, I was just disappointed in Bayless not deducted points for holding.

It would not have made much difference as Manny was not engaging enough. 2 old men past their primes milking the fans with this non event.

Sure mayweather held, but you can count the number of times on your fingers. There was not enough engagement on the inside for Bayless to justify a point deduction. Most fighters will hold as a tatic, for it to be on the forefront the other fighter has to formally complain that the other fighter uses it iillegally. Once that happens the offending fighter is on notice. It was obvious mayweather would hold, but Im guessing pacs corner would use holding if mayweather came to fight. Look at the punch count, I haven't seen it but. It should absolutely dismal even for floyd.

Punches landed are awful, they are very low. Embarrassing.

Re: MAYWEATHER / PACQUIAO - Saturday Night - FIGHT THREAD- TR/HBO/SKY
Yes I know that warning and point deductions are up to the referee, but Bayless in my opinion should have deducted at least one point or giving sterner warnings to Mayweather. It was just a bit too much holding for my liking, but what I like doesn't really matter in the scope of the fight. I'm just hoping that people are so jaded with this spectacle that this ends pay-per-view. More fights on network television!

Funny that Manny's destruction of a severely weight drained Oscar is considered one of his shinning moments since he fought Oscar a year and a half after "age caught up" to him against Floyd.
Hahaha!

pac and may just ensured that casual fans will not return to watch boxing, even though there are tons of other great exciting matches to watch

I never wanted to see oscar again after the floyd fight, that was a pay day for oscar, he didnt care. But in his prime he beats floyd
