Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
It could be a good fight, even a tough fight for Floyd.
People laughed when he decided to fight Maidana, but Marcos ended up giving him the toughest fight he had since Castillo - and incidentally, a much tougher fight than Pac gave him.
Berto is fast, explosive, and has a great right uppercut (Floyd's not one to lean in or overcommit himself so who knows how Berto is going to land that, though).
But I can name about 10 guys I'd rather see Floyd in there against.

What if I grow wings today? Would u consider me an angel?
More relevant question would be: "What if the fight goes exactly as all other Floyd fights go and is a clinic on defense and ring generalship with little to no excitement? Would u feel like a jack ass for wasting ur money again????" Hint: answer should be "yes".
You're such a hater, you aren't even willing to admit that a good fight could happen.
Even if Floyd gets knocked down once or twice. Even if he loses.
It's getting real dim in here, you're one bulb that's all but gone!

Am I REALLY a hater? Is that REALLY ur comeback/counterpoint? I'm saying that Floyd is so superior to Berto that it is a foregone conclusion that Floyd will easily dominate and u r saying I'm a HATER?!?!? Have u been eating retard sandwiches again?
The odds of this being a great or ppv worthy fight are the same as me growing wings today. The odds that it will be a boring, dominant and wide UD are close to the odds that the sun will come up tomorrow. Waste ur money if u want to, but just admit that u love the guy and don't care what he is doing in the ring, just seeing him and his slick defense is enough to excite u and worth ur $70.
Statistically there is a far greater chance of Berto knocking Floyd down than there is a chance of you growing wings.
You are clearly a moron if you believe otherwise.
Wow. That was what u chose to comment on? Really? Ur that much in denial and that much of a chugger that u focused on THAT??? Here we go Rocco, broken down Barney style for slow people like yourself: Floyd is an ATG fighter who is taking on a guy three or four levels below him who has had numerous injuries and multiple losses in his recent fights. Floyd earned the right to fight an easy one by beating his perceived biggest threat in Pac, but this mismatch for $70 and a host of equally boring/meaningless fights to endure is a gross rip off. U r dumb and live Floyd, so please feel free to throw ur money away and into his pocket. For all the rational fans out there, I hope u value ur money more than that and don't waste it, only to find urself bored to tears by the eight round and a knot in ur stomach from buyers remorse. Basically, don't be a Rocco, use ur brain and have some self respect.

Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
But... all I want is a serious answer to the question....
What if Berto knocks Floyd down once or twice and it becomes an exciting fight where Floyd has to dig deep just to survive?
Win or lose? Will it still be a shit fight?

Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
"Use ur brain" -- @mikeeod
Hahaha!
But on a serious note... Beanflicker makes some good points in his last post.

Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
I just fail to see how this fight could be interesting in any way

Maidana was coming off the big win over Floyd's "little brother", the undefeated Adrian Broner, so I would say he earned that shot on PPV. He had also shown in the past the durability and awkward style that might trouble an older Floyd. Berto was beaten handily by Guerrero and Ortiz, and while he comes to fight he doesn't have the durability that Marcos does. Berto has torn his bicep and shoulder tendons in recent fights, suffered horrific swelling in fights and has much more wear and tear than Floyd. Berto hasn't done anything recently to earn this shot on PPV or prove that he has anything to trouble Floyd. Enjoyed reading ur post though, and can see ur point of view (even though I disagree with some of it).

Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
It will not be a great fight because it will show how far Floyd has fallen to struggle with a vulnerable Berto and would explain why he took on weak opposition in his penultimate fight.
It would make it an exciting fight which would be a first for Floyd for many many years.

Berto isn't good enough to deserve a fight against Floyd, but if he beats him you'll be disappointed because Berto shouldn't be good enough to beat him?
Not sure I understand.

Floyd must have slipped drastically to allow a faded Berto to beat him. Whats not to get.

Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
They added a potential explosive must see...Vanes Martirosyan vs Ishe 'sleepy time' Smith :p
This must make up the last .95 cents portion of the ppv price ??? What a joke.

If Brook or Thurman beat him then it's all good for you haters but if Berto beats him it's unacceptable?

Oh Rocco... Not sure why I'm wasting my time trying to educate u but I feel like the right thing to do is help the mentally challenged of this world. Dumbing it down for u:
1) Brook and Thurman r undefeated titlists who have little wear and tear and are APPROACHING their primes. They aren't the best, but would be acceptable for PPV at this point.
2) Berto is 3-3 in his last 6 fights, most likely shot, not durable, and has lost to two opponents Floyd beat handily. A PPV fight with Berto is gross and a rip off, a fight on free t.v. is acceptable.
3) Floyd having a knockdown filled fight that is exciting with any of them is acceptable and would be great fights.
4) I'm impressed that Floyd has enough downstairs to keep ur, Denilson and Leonard Ellerbe's mouths filled up like he does. U n Denilson r better huggers though. He pays Ellerbe millions..

I'm embarrassed for you. That was a pretty weak reply and overall point you were trying to make. It's not "bellyaching", it's saying the fight is a joke and that I won't waste my money on it.

Oh Ruthless Rocco, oh Ruthless Rocco. Why can you not just say it is a rubbish fight and leave it at that? It's an obsession, I tell you! ;D

It's stronger than obsession. It's true love. I think it's beautiful. If I had the time I would write a novel about Rocco's love for and dedication to Floyd. Would put The Notebook to shame.

Because it hasn't happened yet.
Think of how many times you've been pleasantly surprised by something you had preconceived notions about Miles.

Sir! Please, let it go, admit that Floyd has cherrypicked Berto. Everyone but you has accepted that fact and most of us aren't that upset about it.
Most of us know that Floyd is going to win and that means it's not a PPV worthy contest!
Yes, it could be an exciting fight if Floyd was knocked down but do you expect that to happen? Of course no one knows what will happen in a fight but what is your honest prediction? Floyd is going to win right? Everyone is positive about the outcome. That's why it's not a PPV fight and a lot of boxing fans aren't going to buy it.
It's the principal of the thing, we have boxing standards and Floyd is violating them. Lol
One more question. Why are we haters just because we want to see a competitive fight?
-

Floyd will beat any fighter. So by your own criteria there are no PPV worthy fights for Floyd. That is what makes you haters.
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
It's a shit fight on paper, because Berto is not highly ranked and he's very lightly regarded.
But Rocco is also right in that it could turn out to be a good fight in practice, if Berto somehow finds an angle, lands a punch or comes in with an effective game plan and makes the fight interesting like Maidana did. Guys have been huge underdogs and counted out of fights before and went on to either win or put on an amazing fight, so it's not outside the realm of possibility.
Is it a PPV worthy fight? I don't think so. I doubt there's one person here that would buy the fight. But it's just a product like any other that Floyd and crew are putting out there: if enough of the public wants the fight, they'll buy it and it'll be profitable. If the public doesn't want the fight, it'll tank and sales will be the shits. So it's their gamble.
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
Look the man would get 1 million buys fighting the Straw man from Wizard of Oz. Nobody should be surprised by that in this market. Half of those to see if the Straw man could pull the upset. You add the historical significance to this one and who knows?
Donald Trump is ahead in the Polls FFS.
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
If Floyd can do 1 million buys with Berto, why not? I'd sell my left shoe right now for 100k if someone would come up with the money.

if you REALLY think that in the most unprobable of the universe it might happen, I want the stuff you'Re high on. Berto brings NOTHING to the table that could perhaps force Floyd to adapt.
The end.

It is funny Floyd has to defend fighting Berto over Khan.

I wonder why they revamped the undercard.
Roman Martinez vs Orlando Salido and Badou Jack vs George Groves. Maybe they got the message about Mayweather vs Berto being a shit fight.
-
One betting line I saw-Floyd 100/1 favorite. I also heard they're going to add a third fight to the undercard.
You know Rocco, Floyd vs Berto really is a shit fight.

Not a huge puncher but you never know what can happen in a boxing match, especially with Floyd inching closer to 40.

Are you and Floyd having a lovers spat?!?!? Are you ok??? Did you catch him with Leonard Ellerbe on your night again??? You poor thing. He will take you back, don't worry.
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
I rewatched Berto's last 5 fights and man, it's hard to see him winning this fight without Floyd getting stupid and Berto landing something big. If Floyd choses to try to make some kind of statement and go toe to toe, Berto's chances increase dramatically.
Berto is fast but he's not good at counter punching, he's a "lunge forward and throw first" kind of guy, and that's the kind of stuff Floyd deals with best. He keeps his guard up high and practically gives up the body, so you're going to see the body jab and straight right from Floyd all night.
It's a shame because Berto has all the physical gifts you could ever want for a great fighter, he just never had the right trainer to really develop him as a skilled, thinking fighter.

It's getting hard to tell if you're joking or you actually are 10 years old. Why are you wasting your life defending Floyd vs Berto? I'm going to stop arguing with you, I've found it's not that much fun to pound on someone as deluded as you seem to be. I was joking, I'm just getting started!
This is a historical fight, with Floyd about to match Rocky's 49-0, and Floyd picks a weak opponent. That's cool and not unexpected as Floyd has been pretty busy for awhile, but when some of us complain it's not really a PPV fight, you start calling everyone with a different opinion a hater. Does that seem rational to you? Hell, some of the people complaining are huge Floyd supporters!
Now it seems all that bitching about Floyd vs Berto not being a stellar PPV fight has had some results, the undercard is much better, the betting line is starting to run true, and you need to thank us "haters" for helping to improve a PPV fight. You can send that "Thank You" via private message. We all understand pride! lol
I might even buy it now, I want to see Groves vs Jack and the possibility of Salido getting his ass kicked is almost impossible for me to resist, if they drop the price to $29.95. LOL
-
Re: Floyd vs berto is ppv thoughts ?
I have no interest in watching Mayweather at the best of times, so I certainly won't be paying to watch this.
I paid for the Manny fight and that was bad enough.

Hahaha... You think you're making the undercard better? Talk about delusional! They were talking about groves v jack on Floyd's undercard as soon as jack won the title. Besides, if that's what you need to comfort yourself for buying the Mayweather Berto PPV then you just keep telling yourself that. Hahahahha
