Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
Is eveyrone forgettign that Wladimir just beat Samuel Peter?
He's proven himself once again in the big fight enviornment. He's proven he can avoid punches in case his chin fails.
Chris Byrd has slowed both of hand and foot, and he hasn't gotten much technically better. Byrd has underrated power whn he puts something on it, but he will be too focused his defense to really set anything up. Wladimir will be throwing punches and Chris will only have time to try and blcok/alip them.
Wladimir KO7

Peter is not the most tactical fighter out there. He comes in to KO somebody and thats it. Technically he is not that great either, so it wasnt like Wlad had a lot to worry about besides Peters power shots. Wlad was able to stay on the outside and box, then tie Peter up when he got on the inside. That protected him, although he did show better stamina by going the distance. And if Byrd will only have time to block or slip Wlad punches then Wlad will be gassed by the 5th round from throwing all of those punches. The key for Wlad is to keep a pace that wont tire himself out to fast.

We may all get a pleasant surprise with this one. Byrd could actually be coming to Germany for an upset...thoughts?

You're right, Peter isn't.
That wasn't my point however.
My point is that Wlad has proven himself again in the big fight enviornment with a guy who could punch.
Wlad didn't have much to worry about when he stayed on the outside, so what makes you think Chris Byrd would be any different?
You are exactly right on Wlad keeping the pace, this will be key for him in this fight.

I think Chris Byrd will be different because he can move and box a lot better. Byrd has a good chin, and I think if he can keep a high pace in this fight then he could tire Wlad out and then just outbox him down the stretch. Wlad's new style of boxing on the outside then tying up in close will do great for him. He will better utilize his skills this way. And it keeps him out of harms way for longer periods.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
Wlad decision.
I'm surprised so many people think Wlad can KO him when he wasn't able to the 1st time, and for good reason, Byrd's really hard to put leather on.
Anyway it's in Germany so I figure even if it's dead even Wlad will get the decision.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
Byrd has slown down quite a bit now...that's going to be as much of a factor as Wlad's stamina issues.
This match up brings a lot of questions to the top of the page & that's why I think that it ends up being a great fight.
Who's got what left & how will it effect the other?

These two guys have fought before.
Byrd has only slowed down with his hands, feet, reflexes and head movement.
Wlad won't allow Byrd to get close unless he gets worn out..he really only held because he didn't want to get hit by Peter.
Byrd has 2 ways he can win
1. Get Wlad to wear himself out
2. Constantly move to Wlad's left for 12 rounds and pitter pat
I don't see the second one happening though ;)

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
I see Wlad winning another comfortable UD. Byrd may not get decked like last time but I can't see him doing anything to fluster Wlad.

Wlad had this one in the bag since the fight was announced...
He's going to win by knockout

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
I know everyone is betting against Byrd, Byrd has slowed down just enough to get caught flush. But in returned has shown the willingness to trade fist. I see Byrd hitting Wlad a few times flush, But Wlad will just be catching Byrd with too many hard rights and left hooks. I will go out on a limb here and say Wlad by ko in eight.

to be honest i think wacko is just realising that this really isnt some stroll in the park for wlad....chris byrd is a superior boxer and fighter to sam peter....
its gonna be a tough one for wlad...

You can't see Byrd having any chances...everyone has a chance. Take your bwoy Judah for instance...he had a chance...but after about the 4th or 5th round...he was barely in the ring.
Byrd won't be like that & Byrd has enough chin to go the distance with Wlad.

Yes...I don't think that it's going to be a stroll...& yes...Byrd is the superior boxer over Peter...but I don't see him as being superior to Wlad. Wlad is superior...but not as slick as Byrd.
The thing is this...will he be as super as he was the first time that he fought Byrd?
I don't really think so...but Byrd has also been on the slide.
I just can't pick a winner on this one...nor do I think that it'll be easy for either. This is why I think at the end of the day...it'll be a good fight.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
I have to give Wlad the advantage because: he beat him once easily, he is bigger with more power, and hopefully smarter with Emanuel in his corner. Hopefully he will win by a tko by the 9th but it could be a decision. Byrd does have a chance he is a very clever and skilled boxer. anything can happen.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
Byrd ordered to be quiet!
Tuesday, April 18 2006
http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...FCqVwBass.html
Universum Box-Promotion has arranged through a regional court in Berlin a court order for IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd to stop claiming that Wladimir Klitschko had a chemical substance on his gloves in their October 2000 fight. Byrd and Klitschko, who meet again this weekend, previously fought for the WBO title nearly six years ago with Klitschko winning a lopsided decision by scores of 120-106, 119-107, 118-108, knocking down Byrd twice in the process. Byrd has maintained since 1993 and again this weekend that there was a substance on Klitschko's gloves that made his face swell up, an allegation that is vehemently denied by Universum, Klitschko's promoter at the time.
STFU BYRD!!! ;D

Miles I agree that Bryd is a superior boxer to Peter, but Bryd can't crack an egg with his power, Peter can get you outta there with one punch, Bryd gonna have to wear Klitschko down and I think Bryd will have a hard time keeping Wlad off him, Bryd has Lost a step too.

There is alot of momentum building in Byrds favor but I'm still comfy with clit ;D

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
Watch it be a draw now, thats how topsy turvy things are at HW. Could you imagine the odds you'd have got 2 years ago if I said that I think that Toney V Rahman = a draw, Lyakhovich beats Brewster, Vitali is reired etc.... I'd have got about 500-1!
Seriously I think it'll be a tough fight to call. I'd rather make my prediction after the 2nd round. It all depends on which wlad turns up rather than which byrd.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
Both IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd and challenger Wladimir Klitschko were loose and in good spirits at today's prefight press conference in Heidelberg, Germany.
"I know that I am the champion," said Byrd. "People think I'm crazy to box in Germany, but I am teeming with strength.....I promise that I won't run away the whole time, but will attack." Byrd was accompanied by his father and trainer Joe Byrd. The senior Byrd stated Chris is in top shape and pointed out "We've boxed against people who are bigger than Wladimir Klitschko."
"This is for everything," Klitschko stated. "Chris Byrd is the number one, but I am ready for him.....I will win the fight." Klitschko's trainer Emanuel Steward acknowledged that Byrd is the best heavyweight in the world, "but after two hard years, Wladimir is again on the way to the top."
The fight will take place Saturday at the sold out SAP Arena in Mannheim and be televised live on HBO at 5PM ET/2PM PT.

but the difference here is that byrd is a lot harder to hit than peter. its relatively straighforward to keep a limited fighter like peter at bay with the jab but byrd is elusive and if he can make wlad throw and miss then he can wear wlad down. byrd isnt going to be a punching bag like brewster in order to do that though. byrd might not throw rockets but lets not underestimate his power. he can punch and he can hurt. its a big confidence issue with wlad these days and if byrd can knock some of that confidence away early, then it becomes very interesting....byrd is a very underestimated fighter, and wlad is a different fighter to the fighter that beat byrd last time out...
i maintain that byrd can pull it off... ;D

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
wlad will kick byrds head in. it will be a one-sided beating whether it goes 12 or not. o, btw, for any of u that voted for byrd by dec, u must have forgot where the fight is taking place!

You need to broaden your horizons...but with a pair of Klitschko jewels covering your eyes...it's probably hard to see past the nose on your face... :blow: :pointlol:

Re: Wladimir Klitschko vs Chris Byrd II. Who's gonna win this one & how?
We've all heard it a thousand times before... "Styles make fights" well Wlad dominated Byrd last time and although it may be a closer fight this time, Emanual Stewart is going to guide Wlad to a sure points victory and all the way to the top of the Heavyweight pile ;D
Wlad will fight another basic looking fight (lucky to see 3 different punches all night) and Byrd will look worse than he did last time. ;D
