Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Wow, really good fight. Both guys have amazing recuperative powers methinks.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Incredible fight and on regular cable.
I dont think Porter can win a close one.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Porter let him off the hook. He needs to climb on him here.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Thurman pulling an Oscar vs Tito here...
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Into 11th have Porter 'taking' this. Has hurt Thurman few times and near outboxing Thurman last couple rounds. Porter just took bricks and smiled ??? Tremendous back and forth when they stand. better Thurman into 12th. can't score. Who cares. Please rematch gentlemen ;D
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
i ahev it even with one round even, all comes down to last round on my score card
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
I think Poter has inched this but Thurman will win it.
A draw would be almost favourable.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
:appl: :army:
all I want is a rematch regardless of helter skelter cards.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
This is the kind of fight that makes you wish they still went 15. Didn't score it carefully, could go either way really. Love to see a rematch.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Thurman landed the prettier shots but porter got more work done all over the the ring,
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
No idea who won that last round :S I vote it should be a draw, really great fun and brilliant to watch, porter seemed to land more but I think thurman had the more damaging shots, apart from porters great body shot. Who should win.... who cares.... do it again !
that puts a lot of ppv fights to shame !

Porter was barely breathing. He could have went 20.
-
Great fight got porter edging but very close. Commentary seemed a bit biased for thurman n pauli seems still hurt from porter shellackin
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
unanimous decision :S 115-113 thurman S:
-
Meh imo porter deserved it but acceptable scores but strange all 3 had the same

hahaha it really did !
very close decision cant really disagree, I think this result merits a rematch for sure.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
"close but unanimous" :-X guy should be a divorce lawyer.
Thurman talking out his arse a bit...
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Now we have to see Thurman's reaction to the notion of a rematch... I think that will tell us all we need to know about who won.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Can't say I agreed with the decision, felt for more than not Porter was in control. Are cleaner punches worth more if they are less effective?
-
Fun fight. Both guys limitations were evident throughout making for good action. I think both are eager to rematch because both know they are limited. Best not to mix with Kell or Errol.

Indeed. He's the one that called for it and Porter was his mandatory which means he now has an optional and can fight who he wants.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
I had it the same as the judges. Definitely a close fight and could have gone either way. I think a rematch is in order. Thurman could be so much better if he would use a jab just a little bit.

I think the karate background limits him. It is too natural for him to get into a karate stance. That's why he can't punch at all when moving. In a karate stance it is easier to kick on the move than it is to punch IMO. And why everything he does is looping, hooks, uppercuts from distance, overhand rights. If he could add anything straight down the middle to his repertoire he wouldn't be so predictable and he could probably start getting KOs again. But with how obvious he is I don't see him stopping top level fighters ever.
Give the guy a jab and a straight right and I think he could rule the division. But as is I'll take Kell or Spence over him.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
I gave it to Porter but only by a round or two, if Porter wasn't complaining then neither am I.
Good close fight, Porters style made it more exciting than Thurmans.
Get the rematch on

Well soon enough Spence will rule the division. He will wipe the floor with these guys in about a year.

Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Berto has martial arts background, do you think that has held him back because I do not.

I think Jacks of all trades are masters of none.

Good fight. Close fight. Thought Thurman outboxed him by just a bit.
Agree Spence is going to dominate very soon.

Maybe if he takes him early Lennox vs Michael Grant style, but even then I favor Spence.
I like Thurman too and he is more proven.
Still, Spence is amazing.

When? I bet they don't fight in 2016 or 2017. Because Spence is about to destroy Bundu and the he will be lined up for a shot at Brook. Brook will probably drop his IBF belt and hold onto his WBO or move to 154 like Hearn keeps saying. So then Spence will fight someone for the IBF. That puts us at least through the spring. So when?
For the record Thurman himself is backing off his talk of a rematch with Porter(who's surprised?) and looking at the weakest champ for the most money in Garcia(who's surprised?). Following Brooks lead except Brook didn't worry about money, only the weakest champ mattered. I don't see any point for Hayman or Garcia to make that fight. With the ratings Thurman/Porter got and how much people liked the fight it should do even better in a rematch Thurmanwould come off looking really bad if he doesn't give him the rematch. I think Haymon forces it and Thurman wins more decisively.

Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
Turned out a better fight than expected. A draw would have been fair. However, either nicking it was fair too. Worthwhile rematch.
The way Porter was throwing Thurman around like a rag doll shows how strong Brook is.

The only problem is that Brook beat Porter a million years ago and has beaten absolutely NOBODY Since.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
I meant Brooks physical strength at 147 literally. He was able to throw Porter off him as well as push him back and smash his face in.

Yeah porter looks very physically strong and deserves a rematch.
Thurman did hat he had to do but may have lost a little heart when his best shots weren't discouraging porter. Kells win looks better after Saturday but it was afew years ago & he needs to step up again soon
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
That was a hell of a fight. Close as hell and there should definitely be a rematch.
-
Re: So Porter/Thurman is on
I set the DVR to record the fight and didn't think to set it to auto-extend. Because of this, I was only able to watch the first 8 rounds.
I've been going to YouTube like crazy to see if it's been leaked..
