The coast will be heading my way soon enough
Lyle you better do a vegetable reduction with some of those smoked peppers and make a few pots of that stock so you have it ready. You can heat it up by candles. You can literally light three or four or five big candles underneath the of pot of that soup that you make and it will heat up pretty well
Florence shows no sign of changing course..... DAMN. I'm telling you I'd love to have a giant hacksaw and just lop off the bump on Western Africa. It's a deadly hurricane factory. Some form elsewhere, but the deadliest ones come out of that area. Helene seems to be going nowhere, and Isaac should pass safely to the south of us. Feel bad for the Lesser Antilles islands who went through Maria and are now going through Isaac. Too soon.
I missed all this action as it is a thread about weather and in England people talk about weather and it is boring, so I wasn't reading. This weather looks far more interesting. Stay safe chaps. Don't get any weather like that out here. The odd monsoon, heat waves, that's it. Totally boring, but not as boring as England. All they talk about is the weather and there is nothing wrong with the weather there. They need a civil war or something to see how the real world is. They live in a bubble on that propaganda island. Heat wave? They haven't a clue!
Well time to start my hurricane playlist....

I was just mentioning to Lyle about how continental Europe has it pretty easy on catastrophic weather events. You never hear of any tornadoes... and it's way too far north for hurricanes or anything of the sort. Also, yeah... it would seem England wouldn't have heat waves that are too severe, as the ocean around it would tend to temper the temperatures a bit. You probably have the oddball storm every decade or so, I imagine. Right now there's Tropical Storm Helene aiming toward Europe... but it'll die off and peter out way before then.
Deep Purple....perfect for the next song on the playlist!

Lyle is already thoroughly stoned with REO Speedwagon and deep purple and I'm wondering if he's going to get the key in the ignition and get his mustard ass out of there in time
1 million people have been asked to leave.
Storm of a lifetime.
Get out of the way of the storm.
Nah still at work man. I actually have a few things I've got to get set at the house before I let loose.
It's not going to be a fun one for those on the coast....I have a few trees that I worry about uprooting, but yeah the coastline is going to get hammered. Wouldn't be such a big problem if people didn't live there, ditto the Outer Banks.
Seriously man don't risk ending up like the witch in The Wizard of Oz.

I was just in Wilmington right there at Wrightsville Beach back in June. I feel sorry for King Neptune's Seafood which is about 50 meters from the beach.
Lyle don't go to King Neptune for lunch tomorrow, then again you will have a good case of the munchies you burnout stoner
Fuck, Lyle, imagine youre way out there like 7 or 8 miles out like Wilson, and this antenna just emerges out of the depths and suddenly you get that live transmission of the fight and then you see Little Tony aka Peter Cottontail Get ~SPARKED~ on King Neptune's widescreen TV that's floating out there in the surf!
Same time last year this hit Titofan's place. Hope lessons have been learnt.

Florence expected to stall near coastline (oh... great  )..... then do a strange jog more or less WSW. This would be a welcome path for Lyle, as it would veer the hurricane toward S. Carolina a little bit. Also, it should weaken quite rapidly. But folks along the N. Carolina coast had better get the hell outta there.
How you and your family are safe Kabong.
What's your structure like Lyle, 1,2 story? Hurricanes are another reason I kept my crusty land line for back up. Cell towers go down quickly. I had a functioning land line for 2 days before it went down post Katrina. Sat in a closet trying to call every single person I knew for updates ;D:p. Lets hope we get more push South for this ugly girl and the impact is lessened. Calm cool collected but head on a swivel Lyle..be safe!
Yeah I hope all u in the path are safe. I am still cleaning up from the tornado that started one mile down the road from me and gave us a direct hit. Neighbors lost roofs in a matter of seconds. You guys who gotta deal with this shit every year, damn I give u a lot of credit
Thanks brother. You should know I'll be safe. I'm going to make certain that the elderly in my neighborhood are all squared away with everything they need and I'm obviously going to be making sure pets are looked after too, don't want any of them left behind or outside....some people don't treat their pets like members of the family it's odd.
You want to know about my mansion? LMAO...it's just a simple ranch with a basement. I've got a radio, I've got lights, I've got batteries and water.....a glut of liquor ;)....so just beer and bud and I'll be set brother.
Like I said I'll probably just try and make sure my neighbors and their pets are well taken care of...wouldn't want anything to happen to them.

Looks like Cat 3 now. Still a major hurricane and a force to be reckoned with. The stall at the coast is likely to produce much damage there from storm surge and winds. After that it appears headed down to catch a little of South Carolina before weakening into Tropical Storm category. Keeping fingers crossed for further weakening off shore.
Saw this morning that Florence had weakened to a Cat 2. :) :)
Still a hurricane, but thankfully not the monster Cat 4 it had been just yesterday.
Hopefully some gusts will be the extent of it up your way. Prepare for tons of rain, though. This thing is taking its own sweet time.
Oh there's going to be rain alright.
So are the people of Puerto Rico upset at this at all?

That would irk me to no end
Those who know I imagine would be very upset. It all spirals down in a storm of finger-pointing and frankly, I just shut stuff off at that point.

Oh yeah. Sign me up for that job right away. ;)
Could you just stay in the eye of the storm and walk the way it moves until it fizzles out?
Well.... the translational speed of a hurricane is typically about 15 mph, which is the equivalent of a pretty good sprint by a human being. So basically you'd just be keeping up by sprinting in the same direction the hurricane is moving.
But careful not to slow down, because that back wall is a bitch.
