Anyone know the actual odds on this one?
Ah crap :vd:. Jack Reiss.
Hmm... Vanes not there to roll over it seems.
Vanes might have nicked that 1st. But here comes the truck
GG didn't look great, got caught clean a few times but it was only a matter of time really.
Not sure what the point of that fight was. Terrible undercard and a main event nobody was interested in. Canelo is a twat.
Roy talking DQ flashbacks :p. Glad Vanes didn't have to take a prolonged mashing
Crowd oohing and aahing with every slo-mo punch replay. Classic. ;D
He may have looked off, but he also looked angry in there. Too bad Clenelo wasn't around to get some of that.
Stop being a nice guy all call Canelo a cunt already :furious2:.
Kellerman pitching rematch gets boooed ;D
Did Max purposely leave out Derevyanchenko from that list?
Max and Roy and Jim are silly hyperbolic conspiracy loons, it's these American pundits/announcers that pollute the masses who repeat the paranoia and ignorance.
Vanes has been chinned by GGG whilst on the deck, could be a DQ, Roy would have been DQ'd, it was exactly the same as when he got DQ'd against Griffin, GGG is a whiteman, GGG is a ducker, the middleweight defense record is a record, but not a record like a record was back in the day, in Roy's day. Jesus....
Golovkin looked bloody vicious, genuine sicko angry when finishing Vanes off, like he wanted to literally decapitate him. He will need to be carefully monitored when he stops boxing (Golovkin not Vanes). This Canelo shit has clearly affected him
I agree and I had said as much. This angry GGG would've made mincemeat out of Canelo. I hope he maintains his angry edge if and when they ever meet, which is starting to become almost a certainty.
I honestly think we are about done with the GGG era. I think he can beat Canelo in a rematch, but he seems to be slowing a bit and getting hit more often with each passing fight. Also since the division is getting tougher I don’t think he beats another top fighter after the Canelo fight. Just my opinion though.
The good thing though is that I think that Canelo’s days are numbered too. I think he loses to the top 5 middleweights. He will be running scared for years.
I think Golovkin was just gauging his intent and closed when he wanted to. Credit to Vanes he came and opened up. Irony is hbo pushing Canelo excuse interviews lasted longer than Vanes did. Honestly I would pay for Golovkin v Charlo, Jacobs, Derevianchenko or BJS first.
What the Dickens....... Who is this bald geezer... Hayemaker managed to outbid hbo for Michael buffer... Good sign for hbo boxing :S.... Weird decision to have Ryan Martin v Prescott on the card but not show it.... They made a big effort to maintain this date and just go with Braekhus and golovkin being televised, seems odd to me a d maybe doesn't bode well for hbo
Amazing how quickly fans have turned on golovkin recently, he beats a very large middleweight(Jacobs) and then takes on the fight that everyone in boxing called for, gets a dodgy draw and takes a rematch..... Alvarez fails a drug test not long before the fight and now its golovkin dodging guys.... Errrr wot......and golovkin is past it for not knocking out Jacobs and alvarez.... Bizarre.
Golovkin has always been rather easy to hit and the Armenian chap hit him a good few times in the first round but golovkin looked very good in the second round and squashed him...
Golovkin is certainly beatable of course due to his habit of getting whacked in the head. And I am picking alvarez for the win again!
GGG just hasn’t looked great even kind of before the Jacobs fight. GGG has very underrated defense. Sometimes he would allow himself to get hit by opponents to make them throw punches, but if he didn’t want to get hit, he could avoid punches.
He seems to be slowing down and getting hit more than he used to. And by getting hit I mean when he is trying to avoid the shots. His punches looked a bit slower too. He hasn’t grown old overnight and he is still a great fighter, but I think his days are numbered.
And I’m hoping that your last sentence was a joke.
Really trying to understand this post but we are separated by a common language.
First, someone is chinned when they are hit on the back of the head? I always assumed chinned had something to do with the chin.
Second, are you saying it is legal to hit someone on the back of the head when down? I certainly don’t think a DQ was in order. It happened too fast to stop his onslaught
How is it anything “American”? HBO is just crap for boxing now. Hopefully Eddie brings something quality to it. Interested to hear his announcement Thursday. Right now their cards with the little guys is the only thing quality
I didn’t watch because I don’t care for mismatches. Did they really bring race into it? It wouldn’t surprise me, HBO has been openly racist for decades. Absurd to even mention white, black, purple or whatever. They’re all just fighters
ggg punched my cousin behind the head when he was already down.
ggg continues to cheat.
my cousin landed some good shots until that piece of shit cheated
I honestly thought this fight was next week, that shows the interest I had in it.
I’ve only seen the vid on here , so I haven’t seen what GGG said after, but I saw somewhere him saying about wanting all the belts. He says that, but we KNOW that he’ll wait till September for Canelo, which is a fucking joke.
Saw Oscar during Fridays card and he sounds like a promoter talking out of both sides of his mouth. Essentially called suspension a joke and says regardless of what Golovkin is going to do "we're fighting Canelo anyway". They're going to screw him doubly. I don't think they will let Canelo waltz right back in off long layoff and surgery to fight Golovkin right out. Meanwhile he gets older and will have to face strong mandatory.
Maybe I'm just to skeptical ;D.
The post fight press conference Sanchez said GGG will never get all the belts. Sounding like they gave up on that. Actually said BJS will never take the fight. But, and I’m not sure if this is good or bad, but they actually started talking about Charlo. I think their thought is if they fight BJS they lose a different belt so they’re no closer. My concern is they talk about Charlo just long enough a Charlo/Jacobs fight doesn’t happen and they go a different direction. Costing us multiple good fights
GGG feels Vanes out in first round to see what he has. Realizes he doesn't have much and can walk through him. Does it and BAM, it's over. Guy is very smart.
You've just proved the relevance of their nationality (we are seperated by a common language). You are confused by my vernacular (Eddie Hearn's too, for that matter) so have no idea whether or not i'm being serious or joking. Sarcasm and self-depreciation humour are common traits where I come from. By no means are you the only one, it's a common stereotype that Americans don't get irony, and through my experience of this forum I would say that is pretty apt, however, many Brits can't differentiate between the too either.
"Chinned" is not meant in a literal sense, it just means knocked down/out, punched in the boat (boat = face. It's rhyming slang - boat race/face). When I say "ironed out" it doesn't mean I literally think a fighter is using an iron on an opponent, it's just a colourful expression for a knockout, as the fallen fighter lays flat, stiff as a board (think Hatton-Pac).
@Fenster so are you saying "iron the stiff" means "starch the collar"? :happy0931sb4::lol::appl:
I can see Canelo shaking of some rust against Spike upon his return, possibly Lemieux (although I heard rumors he was facing CEJ).
Box Nation (Buncy) was crying that GGG did not mention BJS in his list of people he wanted to fight.
