If they don’t fight, I don’t care whose fault it is, because if BOTH Parties wanted it enough, it would’ve happened.
I’m not saying Wilder should’ve bent over and accepted, but I think he has way more to lose financially than Joshua if they don’t fight.
I also think that Povetkin might even have the backing to get the fight in Russia like he did for the Wlad fight and for the Wilder fight that never ended up happening, and it could be very uncomfortable for team AJ.
reckon AJ will drop WBA belt if goes to Russia
Don’t disagree, but if he does , it will give all the people against Team AJ more Ammunition to call him a spoilt brat at best and a coward at worst.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Haha, Wilder said yesterday he would be agreeing and have the contract to Eddie by Friday. After finally getting the details of date and venue that we’re left out of the contract FFS. Both sides you say, who sends a contract with no F’n date? Blaming both sides is exactly what Eddie wants. Congratulations fish

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
In the overall scheme of things, it may not be a bad idea for AJ and Wilder to fight mandatories before facing each other. I do find it a bit amusing that the WBA president would "lose patience" with the AJ-Wilder negotiations and order the Povetkin fight. It's not like there's been a lot of inactivity for either fighter. That, and the fact that negotiations finally seemed to be reaching an end. But whatever..... time is definitely on the side of both fighters, age is not an issue. And if they're truly the two best heavyweights in boxing, they'll dispatch their mandatories and make their showdown that much bigger.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Apparently Shelly Finkle has said Eddie has given Wilder a date of April 13th 2019 @ wembley

haha , didn’t take long for Mr. Smuggo to post!
Firstly, why does it take 9 days for this date business to come out?
Secondly , have you physically seen this?
who sends a contract with no date? What about who sends a contract with no venue, no TV Lined up, no breakdown of funds?

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
The rematch bothers me. If both fighters put on a good show people would be begging for a rematch. If someone is KO'ed in the first round then a rematch and tons of money flies out the window.

If AJ got smoked in 1 rd I would wanna see a rematch, not so sure the other way round?

Hope they actually get this sorted.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Seems it's Joshua/Hearn Who have fucked this all up and don't want it as much as Wilder does as the next fight.
After all the contract B.S. how can Hearn send a contract to Wilder with no date in it, no venue and a one sided rematch clause for Joshua only.
Wilder should show this contract publicly if what he says is true and expose Hearn.

Exactly! Show it!

If anyone gets smashed early there will be no need for a rematch.

Seems like AJ is moving on to other pastures, so what now?
There's this:

Granted, Fury talks a lot of shit but..... what if this were to happen? How would it pan out?

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
The blame is on Hearn and AJ for this one. Wilders team may have had some fault but I think Hearn is probably going the Arum route and letting it “marinate.”

Not sure if Fury will be out of “Pantomime “ mode by next year.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
AJ makes tons of money no matter what he does. He has a whole country backing him and calling him the real champ so he doesn’t need the Wilder fight. AJ has a ton to lose. It just bothers me that these stupid cash cows with the benefit of their country’s fans get all of the power of negotiation.

True but will not stop them making him offers that he may take up by the end of next year or sooner if they realise that it may be more lucrative to cash in as Tyson may never get back to his best.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
Joshua and his team bitched out on this one. Pathetic. Last heavyweight to duck like this was Riddick Bowe and you see how/where he ended up. Hope Wilder fights Fury next. Ortiz was a beast and very skilled fighter, but Tyson is HUGE and very awkward. Will be interesting. Still think if Cunningham knocked Fury down that Wilder can starch him.

.....annnnnd...... I think we all know who the King of Stupid Cash Cows is. (Hint: He ate tainted ones of his own kind.) :-X ;D
I think AJ's legions of fans would probably not be as forgiving of AJ if he consistently ducked opponents and then got caught cheating.
Another thing in AJ's favor is he has no weight finagling issues to worry about. ;) ;)

AJ is basically like Canelo but just not as crooked. Canelo is an obvious cheat and gets gift decisions. AJ hasn’t had to do any of that yet.

The optimistic (or naive) side of me thinks AJ's fans would turn away if AJ came within sniffing distance of what Ginger gets away with. Dunno..... maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe. I mean, Mexican fans don’t seem to care what their fighters do. I know tons of Mexicans still supported Margarito after the glove incident. I would hope British fans are a bit more level headed and turn on a cheater. I mean, I feel like Brits should be hating on AJ after this whole thing for ducking Wilder. We will see though...

We’re going to pretend an offer is the same as a contract now? All the lies are out there man. Believe what you want, the truth has been exposed. And it didn’t take 9 days, they emailed the first day asking about date and venue. You can find it if you wish or put your head in the sand if you wish. I don’t care either way.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
WILDER IS A DISGRACE.
Step up FFS.
He is planning to fight someone that AJ beats ages ago.
Regardless of who wins the fight..AJ is the A side with all the belts!
Wilder is a complete joke..just beat a 54 year old Cuban and ducked Whyte.

Whilst AJ is taking on a drug cheat that Wilder was about to fight bedore he got caught and got knocked down by Price in his last fight.
I think AJ and Eddie got what they wanted all along which was not the unification fight until they make some more money at home. They bottled it.

Exactly (on the first part you said). But my point is Joshua is nowhere near Ginger and/or Margacheato territory. True.... I'd expect some impatience from fans for not grabbing a fight with Wilder right now (if he really wants to unify), but you can't put this in the same stratosphere as the other transgressions mentioned. Now if this perceived ducking turned into a constant thing..... I would expect some real anger from the UK fans. I think the reason AJ probably gets a free pass right now is that he ended a LONG drought of British HW champions in what let's face it, is boxing's glamour division. He shouldn't waste that goodwill.

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
From what I'm reading from Wilder's side Joshua just wanted all the advantages. Fight in Britain, pick the judges and ref, the rematch clause/contract written the way they want it. Well so what. Joshua is the lineal champ. He's the attraction. He's just asking for what generations of American fighters have had handed to them for years as a matter of course with nobody complaining. Fights in America, not just three American judges but three Vegas judges normally, American (Vegas) ref and so on. Wilder can keep fighting for million dollar purses and Joshua can keep filling stadiums and making tens of millions a fight.

Who has fought the tougher opposition in the shortest amount of time..AJ.
Whether you like AJ or not..he is the A side and it’s down to Wilder to step up to the plate.
I still think a fit healthy Fury will outbox them both if his chin holds out.
Fury won’t be ready until 2020..AJ is the one with x3 of the belts..Wilder is a disgrace if he fails to make this fight.
Whyte would fight anyone..

Re: Deontay Wilder ACCEPTS Anthony Joshua terms with REMATCH CLAUSE for 2018 UK CLASH
It’s insane that anybody is justifying AJ. Sure, I can buy the fact that he could get some advantages, but it’s pretty clear that they were pushing everything to a point to where Wilder wouldn’t sign the contract because he was at too much of a disadvantage. Then Hearn can say “we gave him the contract and he refused to sign it so we will fight somebody else.”
Very obvious duck.

Wilder accepted and gave a lot of ground. Eddie never wanted it this year, he wants more easy pay days before risking his golden goose.

The wilder/povetkin was a real 50/50 fight, shame it didnt happen.
I believe wilder will lose the title soon, then he will be irrelevant.

I agree but Wilder was ready and on the plane to go and fight. He also took on a dangerous and motivated Cuban challenger. It is clear AJ and Eddie didn't want the fight this year. That is now obvious.
