Ok, so in the end...... what we had here were TWO champions that were expected to take out their opponent but didn't.
Machado was supposed to take out Mensah..... and didn't.
Munguia was supposed to take out Smith..... and didn't.
Still, two pretty good fights.
That was a tough as nails scrap. 116-111..kd..Munguia. full credit to Smith holding own late on. Work to do by Munguia, pretty green but maintained pace.
Munguia-Hurd. :)
Respect there from Munguia. Kellerman fishes him a distance question about "is there hand problem"? and Munguia says no he's very tough. Nothing worse than commentators turned physicians
Africans usually aren't the greatest boxers but they are amongst the toughest :S, the ref should probably have stopped it though, good bravery from Mensa I hope he makes a few quid before his head explodes.
The Puerto Rican fellow looks handy.
Nice win for munguia, he's 21 and beat a former champ who still isn't 30 and only defeated once previous, good work from the young guy, smith was pretty much the same size too... It certainly showed munguia has a lot of room for improvement though, he's got to learn some defence... Any defence :S.... Hev doesn't seem so quick either but he's got a lot of power though, good body shots early to slow smith down too.. Munguia will certainly have learned a lot there.
Crazy how much hbo are hyping him too, I think they'll put him in a squash match v someone pretty quick and then fast track him to a Canelo fight no matter what happens v golovkin. That fight would be amazingly fun to watch.
Munguia is a puncher but most of his punches were hooks Smith is not a puncher and looked it.
The Mexican will not rule long a decent boxpuncher will put Pay to him.
Smith is tough but limited himself a decent fight .
Munguia will be handled very carefully in the near future. He is an exciting fighter but is very flawed. They will get the money out of him that they can until they are forced to put him against a top guy. He will end up having a decent career.
Munguia doing some solid numbers for HBO.
Everyone at 154 seems to be talking unifications but no one mentions Castano's name 🤔
Munguia admitted in his interview that he is still green and has a lot to learn. I don’t see him stepping up too quickly. I could see them putting him in there with someone like J Rock. But they are not letting him in the ring with Charlo, Hurd, Or Lara.
Max complains that Tony Weeks should have stopped the fight. What hypocritical bullshit is that? You didn't here him complain when Whyte was slaughtering the big Aussie like a Kosher butcher carves up a chicken. F--k Max
