Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Incredible turnaround by Lopez who beat Thurman from pillar to post!!
Thurman did well to survive the round. Interesting...

Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Getting hit with silly shots, big time. Tough attack from Lopez
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Thurman hurt big time in the 7th. Scoring it 10-8 fir Lopez.
6-1 Thurman, plus KD of Lopez.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Thurman seems to be recovering, but that 7th could've been a 10-8 round, to be honest, it was so one-sided.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Thurman steadied a little bit but Lopez still walking him down and took 8th for me. I also wish Lennox would stop making so many excuses for fighters ;D
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
7-1 Thurman, plus KD of Lopez, plus 10-8 rd for Lopez.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Thurman back on the jab and moving himself instead of being knocked all over the ring :-X, much better 9th but I don't see Spence hiding under his bed anytime soon. Good scrap

Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Wow... some flush shots from Thurman did nothing to Josesito, who countered. I guess it's not "One Time" as far as Josesito's concerned.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
8-1 Thurman, plus KD of Lopez, plus 10-8 rd for Lopez. The last 2 rounds have been close.

He literally just threw pity pat combos mid 10th and gets on his bike and rides away. Lopez didn't come here to lay down
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Josesito's one tough "hombre."
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
9-1 Thurman, plus KD of Lopez, plus 10-8 rd for Lopez.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
After watching this just a wild guess here, Thurman will want about fifteen tuneup fights before he gets in the ring with anybody at world level.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Thurman probably won the 11th, but got hurt midway through the round by a short left hook. Hell of a fight!! Been a good card today. ;D
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Lopez throws the left hook to the body like his glove is underwater. Thurman doing his peter pan tap tap tap routine to get to that bell now. Lopez might have nicked that round says beer.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
10-1 Thurman, plus KD of Lopez, plus 10-8 rd for Lopez.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
118-108 Thurman.
With 4/5 close rounds and a 10-8 for Lopez in the 7th.
-
Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
113-113, 115-111, 117-109
MD Thurman.

Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Wooow 113-113. Umm k. Thurman needs to come down to Earth.

C'mon guys why the Thurman hate. ;D
I thought he was going to easily dispose of Josesito but give Josesito credit... he's a tough dude and he came to fight.
For a 22-month (?) layoff, I didn't think Thurman looked that bad. His movement was good, his punches were crisp, and his stamina was ok too.
Now...... if he does decide to dilly-daddle around before facing elite opposition, being the champion and all that..... I'll join the haters too.

Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
Considering he’s had nearly 2 years out, Thurman moved well and looked fit. But his defence was very leaky and he used to be the “beast” of the division. That bit of aura is gone now in my opinion. I think he knows it as well. That’s why he mentioned Pacquiao and not Spence and Crawford.
Lopez hasn’t been anywhere near the top for quite a while and he gave Thurman way more trouble than he should have.
Seeing the rbr on here made it sound like it was a bit of a landslide , but I never really saw it like that. I reckon the judge giving it to Thurman by 2 rounds was probably closest. He won by maybe 3 or 4 rounds.

I noticed too that he wanted to fight Pacquiao and not Spence or Crawford. Pacquiao is still a cash cow that will give a good chunk of money. He also is beatable at this age.

Fun fight. Honestly, after coming back from such an enormous layoff, Lopez was a very respectable opponent and fought his ass off. He had Thurman in serious trouble but Keith has a champion’s heart and refused to lose. If he fights Manny next then that is a very winnable fight for both men.

Re: Keith “One Time” Thurman v Josesito Lopez 26/1/2019 ITV 4
It was a fun fight. But I wouldn't say people are hating on him as there is some to criticise. A big one is still waving a belt around off 2 yrs of doing nothing. Two yrs out is a long time but it can also be said that it's also more than enough time and prep to ensure readiness. I actually worry more about his defence and that after he was hurt he never regained a power advantage. He basically got on his bike and shadow boxed. I mean hell, Mikey Garcia took two years off and now sits ready to challenge the top guy in Thurmans division and a name Thurman wouldn't even speak Saturday. I really wonder if Thurman has assumed too much and let it pass him by a bit.

Thurman has almost always got on his bike in the later rounds at world level. I think there was a lot of ring rust this time but even allowing for that I wasn't impressed with him at all. I'm not sure he's all that hungry anymore, and I don't think he'd beat Manny if that fight happens next. Two years is a hell of a long time to be out for those injuries. I think mentally he's checked out already and wants a big payday or two and he'll call it a career.

Reminded me a bit of the Bundu ? fight. Look fierce early and by bathe end he's counting the ticks of the clock. Not sure how close he and Manny are but he's talking 'late' in year and surely he won't risk anyone major in a tune up so sounds like his year is a wrap. I agree with the mentality, the man is fundamentally sound but he acts like someone with one foot out the door at times.

thurman doesnt have a pivot.

his hips always stay locked to three quarter. thats why he has to skip so much. he can never just side step guys because of his fixed hip angle. the problem with the skip is when you are using it both of your feet go up in the air. that means you have to come down out of your skip to be able to set your feet to punch. so if youre skipping a lot, like thurman has to, youre not punching a lot. acelino freitas had that problem. you use up so much energy skipping a whole round away. its like skipping rope for a whole round. it is the same motion. if thurman fights someone that hits him and makes him go up into his skip the rest of the fight, his workrate will dip way low, but so will the other guy's workrate, since he moves so much he never lets them set their feet to punch either. that is the dilemma with him.

Thurman is not the puncher he thinks he is , and for me is avoiding Spence.

Good point bud and Thurman has never struck me as a guy who can blend that movement with consistent hurtful combination punching. He does one or the other more often than not. Against better punchers and guys more willing to walk him down he gets put of the backfoot, that skip and constant resetting and fires off light combos. Against someone like Spence if he worries more about his feet than effective punching late on he may get caught in between those skips and forced into a fire fight. Smarter fighters are not going to carelessly burn up the energy trying to track him down, let him burn his own going backwards and time him between and get him trapped along ropes where he often finds himself. Then bring the house down on him.
