Re: Callum Smith v John Ryder
It seems John Ryder will not get a rematch well Mr Hearn I hope you get him a title shot
as he deserves it.
Re: Callum Smith v John Ryder
Ryder did really well in that fight and used his size, quick hands and feet to beat Callum for a lot of the rounds.
I think Smith is weight drained at the weight because he fought in spurts and lay on the rope far too much. Whenever Smith raised the pace and threw combinations you could see he was the better fighter and a class above. Unfortunately he did not do it enough and if it was under different circumstances then he would have lost that contest.
Callum Smith should really move up to light heavyweight, but he has the dilemma of waiting for Canelo (or another big fight) when he really should just move up into the next division.

Callum looked drained at the weight he was flat 6.2 12stone that extra 7 lbs would benefit him maybe he could not get up for the fight that performance was pretty poor.!
But we are doing Ryder a disservice not praising his performance sometimes in Boxing we see some shit results that was one.!
Re: Callum Smith v John Ryder
Ryder absolutely deserves a rematch and if he doesn’t get it Callum will suffer from fans like me that ask them to do the right thing. Fans of the sport.
Of course his fanboys will accept whatever he does.
I want to be a Smith fan so I want him to do the right thing.

Smith would bring in the form that destroyed George Groves and beat Alvarez.
Saul knows this and will never take the fight.
Big difference between a faded Groves and a in his prime Alvarez. Don't get me wrong, Smith is a good fighter. Alvarez is a better fighter

I bet you that Canelo would rather take on Rocky Fielding. ;D
Re: Callum Smith v John Ryder
Rocky Fielding was robbed.
Re: Callum Smith v John Ryder
Seeing as this has turned into a Smith v Canelo thread
If the fight was to happen does anyone think Canelo would force a catchweight? Even if it is just a few pounds, we have seen how Smith looked before the fight against Ryder, we know Canelo's team will take every advantage possible.
Would they offer so much money that Smith can't turn it down?
Wasn't it against Cotto for a vacant middleweight title that they fought at a catchweight?

Can't remember but can remember Floyd making Canelo come down an extra pound or two below light middleweight limit.

Canelo has just vacated his WBA 168lbs title hopefully Ryder gets a shot at the title.!
Re: Callum Smith v John Ryder
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that Canelo Alvarez has vacated his WBA ‘regular’ super middleweight title.
Hearn revealed on Friday that WBA ‘Gold’ 168-lb champion Lennox Allen (22-0-1) will be fighting for the aforementioned title with John Ryder (28-5) set to go head-to-head with him for the belt.
Alvarez, who is also a reigning middleweight and light heavyweight world belt holder, knocked out Sergey Kovalev to win the WBO light heavyweight title in his last bout on November 2 at the MGM Grand – but never defended the belt.
Canelo produced a devastating display to knock out Englishman Rocky Fielding inside three rounds to win the secondary title in his New York City debut at Madison Square Garden last December.
