I gotta check the exact number but oddly enough we fought our rate with the town when we saw compatibles in the area. My neighbor has central AC which we also have and found out he was paying less in taxes than us. We went before a small board and this one guy was saying we had little chance of winning but shortly after we received a letter that they ruled in our favor and lowered our rate. Taxes vary so much from town to town it’s crazy. If my house was less than half a mile further down the road it would probably be worth 75k more with a much higher tax rate as it known as a more exclusive town. Weird.Quote:

Researching more I can see why you think it might not be a good place. There are obviously social issues and a city seemingly divided on racial lines. The white areas are apparently more gentrified and well kept whilst slums for a variety of reasons have emerged affecting the black community more. It is interesting learning more about the place and its history. Seems like many cities that it has its rough areas and more pleasant areas and your experience will depend in part on where you live.
