zurdo doing everything possible not to face jai. i get david b wanting to grab some belts to increase his bargaining power in a potential jai match up (if both bodies sanction the bout for their titles). david b gonna miss artur & dmitry at 175?

Bivol v Beterbiv are holding the division until their 3rd fight. Benavedez wants to face either of them and especially the winner.
In the meantime, Benavedez v Zurdo Ramirez is a good contest and challenge for him.
I heard that post fight and it was definitely all planned out it sounds. I'm not big on jumping up as the same scenario is playing out for Benavidez, not getting the 'big' fight in respected division. When Benavidez came in at 175 there was talk right off about him facing the Bivol-Beterbiev winner. And then they lined up the rematch. Talk and tease again Benavidez would get the winner, and then the trilogy was made. One thing that is pure factual is Turki himself came out directly against Benavidez facing either of them before the trilogy. Almost word for word he just shut it down. Then Bivol has the injury situation and Beterbiev sits in limbo. So, what is Benavidez to do...wait some more? I just get the feeling that for whatever reason, Turki isn't his biggest fan and they don't get along. David just isn't a ring kisser I suppose. The man just wants to fight and beat people up. Turki may "make big fights" but he sure as shit isn't making them for Benavidez. Benavidez v Zurdo on its face is decent. But it feels like a matter of convenience for Oscar to make on Cinco de mayo rather than division defining fight. And that is all on Zurdo doing his utmost to not face Jai. The talk of David going heavyweight is silly talk to me. As a fan I don't want a heavyweight David, I want they man given the opportunity and respect of clearing out a division and unify.
My predictions were more hope than reality. It was a great card and really enjoyed the night of boxing.
Mason v Noakes was the fight of the year and both were brilliant world class boxers.
Norman let me down and was schooled by Haney.
Benavidez is a lot better than I thought. His boxing skills and volume of punches thrown may him a real danger for Bivol/Beterbiev. His fight with Zurdo will be a brutal contest and I think he is crazy enough to take on Jai.
Bam Rodriguez is a real superstar. P4P elite who should really be appreciated.
puma martinez struggled a bit with an old kazuto ioka so there wouldn't have been many that would have given him a legit shot at victory over bam but he was an undefeated belt holder at or near his prime. outside of the israel gonzalez fight & the knockdown against juan francisco estrada, bam has dominated his opposition. i think because bam was such a heavy favourite against puma, people aren't giving him the credit he deserves & you're right, he needs to be appreciated
I'm not big on the Usyk talk just don't see the timelines matching up. And frankly respect to Benavidez, but as of today he is a Lt heavyweight. Not a proven cruiser of heavy. But should he do a number of Zurdo, feel confident in saying he'll have no qualms about getting into a ring with Jai. First things first though.
my point was that there is all this talk about david b v oleksandr & not even a peep about jai. zurdo has done some of his best work at cruiser & the fight with david b probably makes both some coin but can someone explain why we couldn't get artur v david b while dmitry recovered/ recovers?
Benavidez said many people turned the fight down against him so maybe Beterbiev turned the offer down. He may have deemed it too dangerous when he is next in line to face Bivol.
i never heard him say artur turned down an offer. too dangerous? it would have been for the wbc title, a win makes the trilogy with dmitry another unification. artur was planning a fight in november on the same david b v anthony yarde card but it fell through for a reason i am not aware of but it was not an injury on his side, should have just made david b v artur
The elephant in the room here is Turki, just have to recognize it. Mentioned it earlier as he was talking out of both sides of his mouth. Mainly with Bivol but as goes Bivol, so goes Beterbiev and the trilogy right now. He floated Benavidez-Bivol after I, then gets rematch and invites Benavidez and after David is named mandatory, he Turki "is no longer interested in that fight". He basically warned Bivol like some off brand mafia boss ;D. Then says no to mention of Beterbiev and says, "well maybe next year". Perfect no brainer spot to make Beterbiev-David was this last big card last week. But Beterbiev got yanked from his tune up slot with no explanation on the very same card. So, there's not even a sniff of a build up or interest in Beterbiev-Benavidez sharing the same card, let alone the same ring. Honestly it was a huge lost marketing opportunity if in fact Turki has any interest in making "big fights" at 175. Thinking back...how many times was the possibility or hype of Benavidez facing either mentioned on air come fight time? Honestly don't know, gotta check. Turki flat shut it all down and David was getting jerked around while Beterbiev grows more frustrated. And hits 41 this January :-X.
yeah i agree turki is a big part of the problem. he's given us some big fights but there's also been a number of turds. artur v david b would have been a natural for the main event for the recent card with dmitry out injured. it's been a problem with boxing for awhile where there seems to be no long term plans in place. it's not that hard, just give us more division tournaments
