Re: A little history/geography quiz
Dec 29, 1890 is the day of the Wounded Knee Massacre, which saw the deaths of over 200 people of the Sioux(Lakota) Nation at the hands of the US Army, at Wounded Knee Creek in South Dakota. This event marks the symbolic end of an era for many.
Who can name the tribal chief of this group, who died with his people that day.

Yeah mon, Sitting Bull was killed a week earlier. Although he wasn't killed directly by the US military, I do believe they were trying to arrest him, and Sitting Bull tool a bullet in the ensuing chaos. Yeah Custer bit off more than he could chew when he attacked at Little Big Horn. Crazy Horse was another leader who was killed while in custody of the US Army. :(
What blows me a way is how fast it all happened. If you've read the book Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, the loss of a way of life for all the tribes west of the Mississippi happened over the space of about 40 years.
Back to the question. The Indian Chief I have quizzed about was in fact a half brother of Sitting Bull. That question is still unanswered.

Re: A little history/geography quiz
It was Bigfoot, yeah. After Sitting Bull was killed, Bigfoot was leading his people to the reservation at Pine Ridge for safety, when the Wounded Knee incident took place.

Nope.

Re: A little history/geography quiz
How many Prime Ministers has Canada had?
Re: A little history/geography quiz
Bermuda is correct. Bahamas is much further south.
Hmm No idea on how many Prime Ministers we have had. Youngblood can you tell me who was Prime Minister after Brian Mulroney?
Re: A little history/geography quiz
I should have known Bermuda with my interest in cyclones and tracking hurricanes.
Umm, gonna say Paul Martin? v Prob. wrong tho...I honestly know more about US presidents from tv.
Re: A little history/geography quiz
Sorry no, not Paul Martin.
Re: A little history/geography quiz
Is this sorta a trick question. Wasn't there a female interim PM or something?
Re: A little history/geography quiz
You are correct. Mulroney retired from politics before the end of his term, and the Conservative Party nominated Kim Campbell to fill in, she lasted only a short while before being thrashed by Jean Cretien in the next election. Cretien, the lying sonofabitch that he was, served three terms, over 10 years, before being succeeded by Paul Martin.
