Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
Sal, brinkley said he was never hit low so leave it at that ;)
But I wasn't really impressed with Spina, he is open for left hooks and his body is open he is out there to get beat right now. Its good that he came back and won the fight but in reality it shouldn't have taken him 11 rounds to figure it out, especially since his trainer had been telling him to do that from jump start. He tried to do it his way and after 11 rounds it didn't work so he did what his trainer said finally in the 11th and won. Shows me he isn't a good listener and cares more about looking spectacular then following the right ga,e plan if it seems to bore him.
Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
maybee he wasnt hit low, i heard someone say low blow while the ref was counting, reguardless it was a premature HORRIBLE stoppage
Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
Brinkley did not want to continue. It was a little premature, but it wouldnt have gone 3 more seconds imo

Brinkley turned his back to Spina and started walking away, he didn't want to fight anymore he had given up, which is why he walked to his corner and just stopped because he knew he didn't want to fight anymore.
Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE

the only guy from that show i got any respect for is ishe smith, and spina was gettin his ass handed to him by brinkleys bum ass >:mad

Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
An angry butcher is never a good thing. Are you gonna hulk up now ;D Or at least find a clip of your hero doing that ;) Seriously I would love to see a boxer hulk up ;D
Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
i used to love when tatanka would do that shit, he did the indian rain dance to hulk up while people dropped forearms on his back
Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
I wish a boxer would do that though! Like someone like Delahoya, could you imagine if he'd hulked up against Mayorga ;D or Trinidad, or Hopkins ;D
Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
there must be someone whos done something like that, i guess mayorga is the closest, i remember tapia doin some shit along those lines, but VERRY subtle, he would just like drop his hands and scream at people then try to KTFO them
Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
Yes but he really couldn't capitalize on it when Barerra did it did he ;D and didn't do the famous point ;D

Yes, Godfrey has a lot of potential. He can box and he can hit. That's good combo for big man.

Joe calzage? why...why would you want to see someone who is still learning from one of the best trainers in the world fight someone with so much experience? what would that prove?
its like asking a recent highschool grad who wants to be a scientist.. "HEY SPLIT THE ATOM" and he tries and doesnt succeed the way a biochemist(or whatever they are) would, and you say HAH!!!! your gonna fail... why not ask him after he has his doctoral degree to do it...
Point is, how bout you give this guy a chance...he has training to do, he hasnt had mustaffa for long, and im sure mustaffa has things he wants to practice with joey. Thats what training is for...
When I said I wished he was fighting Calzaghe I didn't mean that he should be fighting him.
I was merely relating the fact that I thought he was a cocky twat and that I would have loved to see him having the shit beaten out of him by Calzaghe.
In no way was it meant to be construed as a serious potential fight for Spina. Trust me he will never get near the top 10 let alone a world title shot. The guy is a bum period.
Anyone who makes Jesse Brinkley look good has to be terrible, it's the equivelent of being schooled by John Ruiz.
Re: JOEY "THE KO KID" SPINA... GAME FIGHTER? OR JUST HYPE
I dont know that Brinkly quit or didn't want to fight. I think that is just the way he is. He saw the ref stop the fight and responded with disipointment. These guys have been around boxing long enough to realize that no matter what they say,do, orhow they react, isn't going to get the ref to restart the fight. That is the reason I dont like not having the standing eight count. It favors knock outs that arent ko's. It gives the wrong impression on fighters records. Brinkly was hurt not ko'ed. It makes me wonder how many of spinas other fights went the same way.

he took the full count and when the fight resumed he turned away. He has been stopped to the body before, so i dont think that takes a body shot well physically or mentally. In the back of his head he did not want to continue, he just didnt want people to see him quit so he let the ref end it. Thats what he wanted
