This fight would be for the Ring world welterweight title, who cares about unification. Surely the winner would go on to face Mosley or DLH. Those guys don't have belts but they're fights I wanna see.
USA
Date: Saturday, 04th November, 2006
Welterweight Floyd Mayweather Jr v Carlos Manuel Baldomir 12
~ WBC Welterweight Title ~
~ IBO Welterweight Title ~
IBA Welterweight Title
Unification!!!!!!!!!!!
i thought mayweather had the IBF belt or am i being very slow here ??? i dont pay any attention to floyd as i dislike him alot he is just genrally a dickhead and i want carlos to beat him
He does have the IBF belt, thats why it will be a unification bout ;)
is it just me or does that say WBC,IBO, IBA ??? no sign of IBF anywhere ???
Baldy has the IBA, WBC, IBO belts and Pretty Boy Has The IBF Strap
floyd has the IBO if you look haha!
Re: Boxrec shows Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting Carlos Baldomir on November 4th.
Baldomir should go to Manchester and fight Hatton. Now that would be some good s#it if Baldi could win there.
Re: Boxrec shows Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting Carlos Baldomir on November 4th.
I expect this to be an easy fight for Mayweather but the more I think about it,the more I think that although Mayweather will win...maybe it won't be as easy as I originally thought...
It's be PBF's first fight against a fully blown WW
Baldo is coming off another good win,his confidence must be sky high
Baldo has always maintained that he can give Floyd a tough fight,he genuinely believes it.
I hope it's a close and exciting fight,I want to see Baldo try to bully Floyd, and work the dam body,no one does that with the Pretty One! Floyd UD 116-111

i agree.
this may be floyds toughest test for a long while.
baldomir is a big boy, and hes stood up to some quality fighters and made them look bad
i see this being a good fight (if it happens) and mayweather wins a lopsided decision in a fight that will be much closer than the scorecards indicate
Re: Boxrec shows Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting Carlos Baldomir on November 4th.
Floyd wins easily. He needs to be careful, but he will, and he'll do what he does.
I was hoping Baldomir's star would keep rising a little longer than this before he took the final step up ( = first step down). He was an unexpected injection into the boxing scene and mixed things up for us.
We mighta been in for some more surprises had he boxed, for example, Collazo ...

yeh i agree he was pretty good for the division pulling off an upset against judah, and the gatti win has pretty much made him and most stil dont know what hes capable of, another thing is hes a big lad for a welter too! but one its does say on boxrec but it doesnt on hbo or espn so i whouldnt believe it yet for one, and u never know baldo likes his upsets dont bury him b4 hes dead eh?.

theoretically, totally, you're right.
in practical terms ... this is PBF he's fighting, who you kidding?
Re: Boxrec shows Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting Carlos Baldomir on November 4th.
i duno if anything is really correct practically i mean theres always chance for upsets man, i mean louis-rahman, jones finally getting knocked out? i mean i know alot of people had him loosin the first fight but i certainly had him winnin it there was no way i would have dream he's be knocked out, or that tito would lose the hopkins, well it could go on forever but point is u really cant bury anyone before theyr dead cos it could happen and im not sure it would be a total whitewash atall, and also we duno if it'll happen yet , be honest i was hoping it would be hatton! it nov 4th isnt it? because if its not ricky then he wont fight ricky till maybe summer '07 cos likelyhood is pbf has some business to settle with Dlh! peace.

how is it unifying anything? it would be a fight for the three alphabet straps baldomir currently holds--plus the more important linear/Ring title. it's the same as if anyone else fought baldomir. it would make pbf the legit champ only because baldomir currently is--not because anything would get "unified".
You got it, at least you know the real champions when you see them
Re: Boxrec shows Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting Carlos Baldomir on November 4th.
Maybe Floyed is not all that concerned about the fans and the money and just wants an easy shot at partial unification because:
Baldomir/Floyed has not stirred any amount of fan fare until now and only after the contract has been made mainly because Baldomir struggled to win against two lackluster apponants and even got his butte stomped by Clottey but of course spoiled boy always gets his way.
I am curious what Floyed's share of the pot will be. I bet it is only half as much as he was offered to fight Maragarito. If this is the case it is further proof that PBF is ducking the most exiting and lucrative apponants.
Re: Boxrec shows Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting Carlos Baldomir on November 4th.
Everyone's gonna laugh at Wacko on this one...but I think this ends up being a TEST of TESTS for Lil Floyd.
Gatti came up short & so did Judah.
Baldo's a big man for Welter & he's got a lot of will.
Floyd's hands could be a factor.
Gatti was supposed to be all heart & power...he faltered.
Judah was supposed to be all power & speed...he faltered.
What will happen once Floyd pits speed against...whatever it is that Baldo does.

totally agree...  Baldi was a nonfactor who has BECOME one....  Friggin pissed me off in the Gatti fight but, man...  You can't knock this guy out of his game...  Jaw of steel...  Dont know much bout his body but.......  Surprised me.  PBF by UD/or KO Baldi.... one sided one way or another(laugh if u want) but it will be a war

Again, are you hanging "partial unification" on the fact that Floyd apparently now holds the "IBO" belt? I don't really care about any of the alphabet straps, but if you're going to talk "unification" I think you really need to stick to the big three.

Are you calling Judah a "lackluster opponent" in general or just saying that he wasn't at his best against Baldomir? I mean, Judah is WAY more skilled than your boyfriend Margarito, and was in fact the real, undisputed, linear welterweight world champion when Baldomir beat him. Yeah, he should have taken Baldomir more seriously. But that doesn't really make your point. Just having Judah on his resume means that Baldomir has faced better competition than, say, Antonio Margarito.

I admit that I'd get up a little more for Floyd/Margarito. But Baldomir has done more to earn the shot. He's the champion of the division. He's at this point better known to casual fans than Margarito is. As to "the most exciting and lucrative opponents," those would be ODH and Shane Mosely--both of whom have publicly ducked Floyd, at least for now. If they're still not up to fight after Floyd takes care of Baldomir, then maybe we'll get an actual WW "unification" fight--with Margarito or Hatton.
And I'll say this again--I've still yet to hear that this fight is actually happening from anywhere other than the totally unreliable boxrec. No mention anywhere else. I won't believe it til I see it.

Oh, there is always room for the upset ... and for that matter, many things happen that really by right and logic shouldn't. lewis-rahman is a case in point. Lewis went in pudgy and unprepared. He was outpointing Rahman but not in very exciting style, and he left himself open and got KO'd.
It shouldn't have happened; Lewis shouldn't have taken Rahman for granted.
Looking ahead to the fight, no one should have expected Rahman to dominate Lewis, or to win the fight. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen. He didn't dominate Lewis, obviously, but he won the fight.
Lewis came back and showed what should have happened the first time.
Hopkins-Tito ... well, that wasn't nearly the same. That was a matter of Hopkins being kept under a bushel and being under-recognized and under-respected. He was the 3-1 underdog because of the ignorance of the boxing public and media and because of the lavish love of Tito that blinded all to the fact that he was, though impressive, not a very well-dimensioned boxer. So Hopkins-Tito was only an upset on paper, not in fact; there is no way that Tito should have beat Hopkins, and he didn't.
I hope Baldomir will be the test of Floyd that folks are saying he will be. Castillo was, and now we got a bigger stronger fighter with confidence and who can take a punch. So - in practical terms, PBF may have his work cut out for him.
But I think he will know what he's in for, and he'll stay outside and box for points, looking to UD 12. I think he'll manage to do that.

I couldn't have said any better, only the ww unification bit at the bottom... you didn't need to add something that doesn't matter. The winner of Floyd/ Baldomir will be the world welter champion as Baldomir is the current holder, a fight with Hatton or Margarito would be champion Vs contender!!!
