Alright ladies & gents...it's Friday night & we'll be kicking of the DRBR one night early as once again...we sit in on Evander Holyfield's further exploits of this grand sport that we have all come to say that we love.
Bouts like this kind of bring a lump in Wacko's throat as soon as I hear that they are official.
Evander, once one of the most beloved figures in our sport...well...you know...I suppose that he still is beloved. Let me restart.
Back in the day...Evander was considered an asset to the sport. One of the greatest figures to grace boxing in years. He was idolized & respected. Now he's become something of a worry...& dare I say...maybe even a black eye of sorts. Figures such as Evander & Joe Mesi seem to be a fast rising problem in our sport. How many times have we all argued over them being banned for life...saving them from themselves? As cliche as that is...it's a legit worry...honestly...something needs to be done, but here we are. Again. Waiting in anticipation to see if the Old Dog can do it one more time.
Why is that?
Why do we always just stand by & watch the figures we love so much as they hurt & demean themselves?
Tuff question...two easy answers.
#1: This is boxing...& we are all just human. We will watch no matter what...basically just out of curiousity. Just to see what happens. If you love your sport...then your'e torn watching fights like this come off might disgust you or give you cause to gripe...but in the end...you will watch. Double edged sword.
#2: Your'e a fan & no matter what...you'll support your guy through thick & then...again...no matter what.
Be that as it may...for me the answer is easy...it's boxing...& generally...I will watch it...unless it's women's boxing...I'd rather watch to gotdam kanga's fighting in Aussie land than I would female boxing...but the sad thing is...I'd rather watch that any day over Holy taking another beat down.

Anywho...Holyfield vs Bates on Best Damned Sports Show tonight...in about another hour & a half.

Long Island Iced Tea (By a Long Islander)
Ingredients:
1 part Vodka
1 part Tequila
1 part Rum
1 part Gin
1 part Triple sec
1 1/2 part Sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola
Mixing instructions:
Mix ingredients together over ice in a glass. Pour into shaker and give ONE brisk shake. Pour back into glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top. Garnish with lemon.

Perhaps the Holyfield fight is the undercard, and the main event is the ambulance race to the hospital where they try and revive him :P

He says that he's gonna be better than he's been over the last 10 years.
Damn. Doubtful...but we shall see. He's been out for 2 years...I just wonder what that means. The commentators are a bit speculative about it.

He should be alright though, if this guy is as bad as his record suggests I reckon you could pick a saddo forum member at random to fight him and they would have at least a 50/50 chance of getting the win.
