do you think it is steroids that made him insane?
I liked Golota early in his career, & wanted him to do well.
Didn't he 'play police-man' & pull a pretty girl over with a fake badge or something in Poland?
:bobby::gorgeous: :nono:
When he quit VS Tyson on his stool, I lost all respect for him...
just like I lost ALL future respect for Tyson when he quit on his stool versus the McBride. :shakehead:
if he could get his head on straight he could be really good......if not ..HAS BEEN!!Quote:

Last thing I heard about him was several months ago when he was reportedly arrested for kidnapping and sexually molesting two girls. Never heard any follow up to that.
Golota was mixed up with the Polish mafiya and a lot of his fights were weird and he may very well have thrown some of been forced to throw some or been doped up so that he would lose. The thing with Grant, for instance. He was beating up on grant and then he just walked away. The boss of the Polish mafiya had set up permanent encampment at Golota's training camp in Colorado for that one. After the fight, when he returned to Poland, he was murdered.
Golota was doped up for that incredibly weird fight vs. Lewis. I've dealt with a loy of junkies and the moment Golota walked in the ring glassy eyed, after having disappeared before the fight, I took one look at him and said he's been drugged.
On the other hand, he fought perfectly professional fights vs. Ruiz and Byrd and clearly beat the both of them, both championship fights, and he was robbed in both by the crooked (pardon the redundancy!) judges.
The guy's one of a kind. I'd like to know the whole story about what's been going on with him. I'd like to read his truthful memoirs, if he ever writes it.

Well , before the fight with lewis Golota got a shot in the leg to relieve pain . Aparantely some substance stiffened all his muscles. Same thing happened to Holyfield when he fought Moorer. And as for Golota and his latest sexual assualt charges , he was put for 6 months of probation around two weeks ago
"...before the fight with lewis Golota got a shot in the leg to relieve pain . Aparantely some substance stiffened all his muscles. "
That was so bizarre. Golota had disappeared before the Lewis fight. Nobody knew where he was, including his corner. Then, right before the fight, he shows up in a police car. Seems that, entirely on his own, he had gone to a quack doctor who injected some pain killer into his vein instead of his artery and almost killed him. All of this doesn't make a lot of sense. Then he walks into the ring stone cold and glassy eyed and imediately proceeds to get himself knocked out (similar to Brewster) - and this was right after his two stunning fights with Bowe, who had been considered the best heavyweight in the world before facing what was supposed to be a virtually unknown Polish fighter for an easy warmup fight - two stunning fights that he deliberately lost.
That Polish mafiya boss who was at Golota's training camp for the Lewis fight and then got bumped off when he returned to Poland, I keep forgetting his name - he used the name of a famous American general.
There's a lot going on with Golota that people don't know about.

Jayzus!
So, Mikeboxing, you said you know him and his manager, so how much of all this bizarre Golota stuff would you attribute to the guy being spacey, and how much to something more sinister?
I've heard that he is not stupid at all, speaking a number of languages, and having a good sense of humor.
ww
wow He is even more fascinating than I thought. In a way he is so unbelievable that if the reviewers at The New Yorker read his memoirs they would believe it was fiction.
Sure this guy claims that he thought for the hw belt How many times? disqulifies himself w 0ne round to go against a guy who can hardly stand up? gets robbed twice in a row? bites ears? walks out? kidnapps?
In any case th paradox is that a guy who got KO in first round last time, may still be a tough match against any of the current belt holders. Love to see Klit and him establish the Jab. Golota is actually almost as tall as Klit and more sturdy. Or Golota Toney wow. BODY vs MIND. no telling who would win.
I always thought Golota vs Moorer, Holyfield, Morrison, Rudduck, Mercer, McCall, Rahman would have been good but alas no such luck
I was looking forward to the Golota-Tyson fight for years. I thought it could turn out to be the wildest fight of the century. Boy, was I wrong.
The Polish Mafia boss I mentioned, he called himself Pershing.
ww
Pershing's real name was Andrzej Kolikowski. He was assassinated on 5 Dec 1999. The Golota-Grant fight took place on 20 Nov 1999.

The point being of all these posts, is that we ALL would tune in to watch Golota fight. Just as none of us could turn away from a train wreck in progress, we can't resist to see which fighter shows up: The animal that sodimized Bowe or the nut job that quit against Grant and Tyson. Why is it that NOBODY wants to fight this guy? Sure, Brewster embarrassed him, but anyone in the business knows that a totally different fighter could show up for the next bout and end your fighter's career. Golota is a tragic enigma. While Bbessed with an abundance of physical apptitude he was short-changed in the departments of drive, focus and maturity.
His performance, I believe, comes down to what he watches on TV the hour before the fight. He'll go down as one of the all time most interesting, and tragic, characters in the sport.
Forget Ruslan Chagaev, Andrew Golota was "The White Tyson"
